If the rumours of the appointment are true I actually feel very underwhelmed but my temporary avatar may give my real preferences away. I will of course support the decision but I have doubts whether he is the man to take us forward to the promised land and cannot see his credentials are as high as some of the other alleged applicants.

BBC seem to be convinced that Adkins will be appointed very soon but then last week there were intimating it was Martin O'Neill. We will all have to wait but this is a depressing situation. I suppose if we had these results under Pardew he would be sacked shortly anyway.

I could not go today and only listened on the radio but once again a lot of possession and chances but cannot hit a barn door and conceded a soft goal after a needless free kick given away. Depressing but not the end of the world.

I heard what Mr 'motormouth' Mitchell said in SSN and it was categorically that Howe was interviewed and offered the job but turned it down. This is probably only partly true and seems to vary with the Adkins interview on BBC Humberside which I listened to as well. True or not none of this makes SFC look very good and this may have been Mitchell's intention.

A pretty good press conference - he said all the things he should say without committing himself to anything before things are agreed. Vey complimentary about us. Very repetitive and avoided any direct answers to straightforward questions.

I think however - if appointed - he represents a big risk for us.

I suggest you get on Wiki and review what he achieved for example at Leicester as a reasonable comparative to where SFc currently are. It defies logic that you pontificate that O'Neill could not achieve promotion but that others with a fraction of his record can. Oh and please spare me the hackneyed witticisms of byegone years as a feeble attempt to justify your view.

There are a lot of posters who have been busy telling us who it is not going to be but without telling us who it actually is. When they are found out i.e when the manager is appointed from the huge list of those who it is not going to be can they those posters be banned from posting for ever for wasting my time . A positive statement - it WILL be Martin O'Neill but I could be wrong!
