The worst one in my opinion was Shearer (plus others) to Blackburn. Yes we got a big price even if Askham forgot a selling on fee. We slid down the table and Blackburn won the league. I am not suggesting that we would have won the league as we were always short of three or four quality players but it marked our position in the League for years to come. I therefore cannot see SRL being sold.

Having done business in Italy over the years (and you only do this if you have to - no bias only experience) it appears that cash strapped Bologna agreed a deal and are now reneging on it as they 'need' more money. All the stuff from the Italian newspapers (would you believe anything they write?) and Twitter is being fed to try and improve their position. Our chairman will be aware of this far more than me. It is possible that Bologna had forgotten the Penarol sell on 30% (surely not but it is not unknown our previous chairmen forgot to ask for them!) and promised their bank the entire proceeds. All in all I think they will sell as they appear to have to but will we walk away in the meantime as the days slip by to next Friday.

There is no question that Lowe was instrumental in putting the structure in place for the Academy development and for that he deserves credit. Also he handled the Walcott transfer well. Everything else he screwed up as he was clueless. For those who claimed Lowe was Strachan's biggest supporter read in Stachan's biography about the SFC director in the bushes at Staplewood spying on training with a pair of binos - until he fell out of the bush. You could not make it up.

Does anyone pay attention to Holloway? He may want to keep Phillips but Blackpool were largely relegated as the owners, the Oystons kept the bulk of the Prem money (apart from the new stand) for themselves. Does he think that the Oystons will turn down £6m - ask anyone on the Fylde?

We were given a lesson in finishing by Di Natale who clearly had not been told it was a friendly. Udinese showed pace power and control which we did not. Well worth £20 if only to watch Di Natale.
