  1. Maybe you already know, but I notice ITV re-runs of 'The Big Match' are featuring the 1979 League Cup Final vs Notts Forest this week. Been enjoying the weekly retro flashbacks and now an opportunity to see Saints albeit a 3-2 defeat. THURSDAY, MIDDAY ON ITV4
  2. 7 of us coming down from Fife on Saturday and heading back Sunday. Hoping for a bit of a sunshine, but would happily take a soaking for 3 points. C'mon
  3. Decided early on in the season to take two of my Scottish colleagues along to a Saints game and we chose the Blackpool fixture. Having recieved pelters since October about us being relegated by the time we went in March, I am now feeling slightly more optimistic. GREAT RESULT TONIGHT - WELL DONE LADS!
  4. A-Team GK - Tim Flowers DF - Kevin Moore MF - Jimmy Case ST - David Puckett UP - Andy Townsend B-Team GK - John Burridge DF - Micky Adams MF - Graeme Baker ST - Paul Rideout UP - James Beattie
  5. I think we all know of someone who we know and love who has suffered from the big 'C'. I have sent my wishes via the Sky Sports website e-mail above, every good wish will give him strength I am sure.
  6. As a young lad I always remember Danny Wallace's overhead kick v Liverpool in 1983 or 1984 I think. We had just acquired a Betamax video recorder and I taped the game which was shown Friday night on the BBC (or so my memory serves me as I was only 7/8 at the time). Re-played the goal hundreds of times, can still picture it now in fact, which is just as well as the tape only lasted about as long as Betamax - not that long.
  7. This post sums up my feeling entirely. I dont get to many games as I live in Scotland, but this was very sad day for me and I was embarrassed by the scenes. I took my friend along who was happy to follow Saints albiet for the game only as he is a Brighton fan. I don't think he was that impressed either. Left a sour taste this morning. Oh and I can also equate these feelings to the football match also.
  8. Quality, i commend you for that comment. Love it!
  9. Fantastic Fantastic Fantastic, over the moon. Well done chaps for the updates, great for us in outer hebrides of Scotland. BBC Videprinter ok, but quicker updates via the forum.
  10. I enjoyed the item description on this e-bay link below. It refers to the Rank Xerox shirt being worn in the era of Beattie and Le Tissier. I would say they are at least 15 years out. I think the shirt was from the 82/83 season!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SOUTHAMPTON-AWAY-FOOTBALL-SHIRT-RANK-XEROX-SPONSOR_W0QQitemZ110327685530QQ
  11. Please moderator Glenn's surname
  12. 80's onwards is my era. Steve Williams and Grasshopper Glenn Co ckerill get my votes.
  13. I feel for the fans who were at the game. I am utterly devastated but it must be even worse for those who were put through that. Not much of a consoloation but at least Donny and Charlton did not win
  14. MP Robert - at last a politician who speaks some sense. You have my vote on this one.
  15. A fine summary fella
  16. Beginning of the season, I hope we would survive and that was my only ambition given the lack of funds and the promise of youth. There have been times when I have thought if it all comes together we could push on. Last night was a timely reminder for me - so still survival is no.1 for me. I have always thought if we stay up this year we could push on next season. C'mon ye Saints
  17. Nice to see Rupert the Bear. Nice kit, may ask Santa for that one. As for the game, star performers on the night were the Saints fans who turned up, fair play to you.
  18. There was an invetability of going behind then further behind, its as if I expected us to be ****e on the box tonight. I shall keep believing tho and hope the players put in a blinder 2nd half c'mon ye saints
  19. At the start of the season I had no ambition other than survival this season, its now December and thats still my ambition. So when the dust settles I will take the point. Hoping we can now end our poor live on TV run of results on Monday night. C'mon ye Saints!
  20. I must admist I thought we could win this game, but after the first half I am ok with the point and the clean sheet. Desperate that we beat the Owls next week.
  21. Killer would be the first name on my team sheet. 2nd Centre back I would give to Kevin Moore.
  22. Sunderland. A battle of the red/white stripes. Kelvin to return to his old club and play a blinder
