Its all about getting the balance right - a team can keep clean sheets at the expense of scoring at the other end and vive verca, its only when you have good quality all over the team, good organisation and confidence that you can get it right at both ends. It takes time, money, a good manager / board and a bit of luck. We're only just starting in reality. I dont think anyone minded us letting in the odd goal when were scoring more the other end - but if we're not scoring so many for any reason it highlights the defensive shortcomings. I'm sure AP is well aware of where the strengthening needs to happen. I expect to see us revert to 4-5-1 for a while, but lets rejoice in how far we've come in the last 10 games or so, and hope that the run starts again on Saturday!

We also had Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain coming on as sub with Jordance Holder Spooner - thats almost another team

Yes, good entertainment. Its not often you come away from St Mary's having seen Saints win 6-0! Good everywhere, we had more height, pace and technical ability as a team. Some good individual performances - Daryl McLean looked to me like a clone of Antonio, and the centre back pair were way too solid for the opposition. Sam Hoskins stole the show with 4 goals with a bit of a Pahars performance - pacy with good close control and positional nous. The one that really caught the eye though for me was Jordance Holder Spooner, even though he only came on as sub - great skills and bags of confidence.

Including his middle name its OMG ....FFS

I hear that throw-ins are his speciality?

Of course you do, everyone likes to say I told you so (whether right or not)

Thought he looked a little (understandably) rusty tbh. But he has that great strikers instinct to be in the right place at the right time. Once he's completely match fit and up to speed he'll be awesome with Lambert.

When I got my tickets this afternoon (Wednesday) they reckoned we were up to about 17k for Saturday

Saints v Pompey in the CCC next year!?!
-
It is for Pompey
-
we don't do four wins in a row

Nice substitution Mr Pardew......off the bottom of league 1?

3-0 I've been a Saints fan for too long to be carried away by one weeks good luck. We'll be over confident, go 2-0 down and then concede another trying to pile forwards and chase the game. ....or I might be wrong

I thought our old lack of self belief was there again. The first 10 mins looked like a practice session and it was just a question of whether we would get to double figures or not. As soon as Torquay scored all the old self doubts and lack of composure seemed to return. Its another win though! lets be happy with that (5 cracking pens as well)

Excellent, the name that sprang to my mind also. Old Kev Keegan could do a mean 360 in his day also :smt119

Way too positive Legod, how did that get through the filters?

I dont think this forum does long term though - we should be in the automatic promotion places by now!

I think that rule only counts for people leaving Saints

Must be a wind up, we shouldn'nt bite

The first one was embarrassing, would have made Eduardo blush, and I'm still not sure what the second was all about - I thought the ref had given something the other way....happy to take them both though thank you, and these things perhaps even out

Not the most convincing of performances but I'd settle for a lot more of those along with 3 points each time. Defence looked good generally, as did the central spine - Hammond and Lambert. Felt sorry for Lambert - winning everything but not much support, no-one really chasing thorough on all those flick ons. Still seemed to be a bit of hesitation and nerves - we desperately need some confidence, but its getting there. Compare this with 3 months ago and were probably doing OK

I bet we all wish we were only good enough to play international football
