..so they all had a big falling out before the West Ham game... and MS chooses that game to come out and do what was a pretty positive interview...yes he didn't commit his future wholesale to the club... but why not just keep his head down.. if there had been a big fall out...
-
..would be top signing... but he's more of a right sided CB?... he'd provide proper competition for Captain Fonte???
-
you can guarantee they wouldn't have given him a WP if he had signed for us....but I'm sure they'll do whatever Man U ask...

Just watching the women's football show on telly... Game is definitely improving and becoming more popular... Also good to see England women in both rugby and cricket getting professional contracts... Must be about time Saints started supporting the Southampton ladies team that it abandoned...? Dear me... I gave an opinion on a forum....
-
..there seem to be a lot of emotional reactions based upon 1 or 2 results. Yes Spurs played well against an awful QPR side, and yes MoPo is a ver good manager, but let's get it in context. He plays with one dimension that frustrated us all last year. He has taken over a Spurs side, full of expensive players, that performed way below how they should have performed last year.. and in my opinion they had awful managers last year. They will be much better this year, MoPo will get them playing a certain way, longer term there will probably be cliques and falling out, but overall he'll get them playing well.. he's a very good manager, but has weaknesses as well.... but Saints need to move on... I don't think right now, anyone can judge RoKo, other than to say, he's better at engaging with the fans/more open... the players broadly seem happy with his style behind the scenes and based upon 2 games, 1) the team has done well.. and 2) very similar to last year we struggled beyond a one dimensional style..for me it's a slight upgrade in that RoKo came out and pretty much said as much. In my view, the team is currently not as good as last year, partly because they haven't had time to gel... but let's be honest we've lost some of our better players... BUT a lot of what we've lost is 'potential'... i.e. Bertrand for Shaw... Shaw wasn't exceptional in every game last year... he made a ton of mistakes... but he was 'very good'... but at his age he had/has the potential to be world class...whereas Bertrand is a pretty good replacement, but will most likely on marginally improve... and I think that optimisim for the future is what we've lost most with Chambers going, which what hit most hard. What's most disappointing about the Long transfer is that I don't think anyone thinks he'll get better... or we'll do anything but lose money on him... ..so overall (in my opinion) GK - Forster is an upgrade, probably about the same now but more potential than Boruc RB - The same, but we've lost 'potential' in Chambers RCB - the same LCB - Currently downgrade, but here's hoping Gardos adjusts quickly and coudl easily reach same levels as Lovren LB - Slight downgrade, but mostly in future potential... although might allow more hope for Targett CMF - Added Taider, who has 'potential' but need to sort out the Morgan situation before we know if this has been strengthened or not RMF - Same.. LMF/LW - Tadic currently below Lallana.. but to me...looks like he has more potential.... but that's very much opinion at this stage Strikers... - Currently Pelle...looks like he needs confidence and to adjust to the premiership...so a downgrade on Ricky...but I'm hopeful by end of the season it will be an upgrade...but we'll see...personally... I think Long is a downgrade, mostly because of that word potential... he's a journeyman who looks like he won't get better... and personally I'd have Lloyd Isgrove over Townsend... partly because of the HOPE is breeds in the club and fans and that's hard to buy...

Ronald Koeman on Artur Boruc's future at Saints
Saint Jude replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Surely our one pulling point here is Watson.... we need an up and coming young keeper who's happy being second fiddle... and knows he'll be learning from great young goal keeping coach with England connections... i.e. a Gazza who's actually any good.. -
have we finished yet? or is there more to look forward to?
Saint Jude replied to cobbysouth's topic in The Saints
can't see us getting another 1st choice centre back like Vlaar... gardos been given #5 and Jose been made captain... maybe we'll get someone to replace MOrgan if he goes... or still get back up for RB.... unless he can finsd someone who can play RB and RCB as cover... -
Morgan's head gone- Update: It has been re-attached
Saint Jude replied to Chez's topic in The Saints
some jour no on twitter saying Morgan's had a change of heart... -
I shouldn't be surprised... but there's a lot of hypocrisy on here... all these players who after one season of success want to turn into prima donnas and buy success at the first sign of trouble.. we slag them off... then all the fans on here act the same way.. planned.. thought through and leaves space for Matt...
-
ok .. so he's not a marquee signing... but.. a few years ago he was tipped to replace Ashley Cole for both Chelski and England.. probably mostly 'cos he's sat on the bench and not got real experience.... the lad is come to the conclusion that he needs to play games and is willing to come to us, at a time when many wouldn't... with RoKo's help he could turn out to be a really astute signing.....as long as spend some decent money elsewhere.. I'm pretty comfortable

Seems to me like FPP is a classic attempt at regulation to manipulate the market... and its completely backfired... pretty much like something like RDR has done for financial advice in this country,....
-
why do we want another central midfielder?...
-
if the "love of money is the root of all evil'... no wonder so many footballers seem to have to pray after they've scored... they are asking for forgiveness.. for all the loving of money they've been doing... 'love of football is the root of all success'...
-
Sunseeker are... but suspect the rumour was about Rob Braithwaite who founded it and sold to Dalian.... but he hasn't got the kind of money to buy the club... last I heard he was hoping to use his money for good causes.. and let's face it.. Saints ain't that...
-
...was thinking Ron's tweets.. were hints at player(s) coming in..

I took my kids to the Sociedad game last year, for their first game... it was a really good starter for them in terms of not intimidating (both in terms of in the ground and outside)... only downside was that as there was no family area.. I ended up with 5 blokes in front sharing a 'flask' of some sort.. and increasingly effing and blinding as the game went on... but still they need to get used to it, if they're going to come to a game anyway... Subsequently got my daughter to a number of proper games last season.. and will be taking a younger one to the BL game, if I can get back from holiday in time...
-
of course that should read.. 'unless and until'... schoolboy error...
-
If we're debating his use of English grammar.. I think in this case the use of both... 'unless or until' would be correct...
-
have to say I'm starting to like RK in his interviews... simple straight answers... minor injuries to Lovren and Davis... no bids for Lovren... although he didn't answer the question about Boruc...
-
I was just about to say... was the biggest success of the last week... that we've kept ourselves out of the press in terms of rumours... seemed to have stemmed the flow of negative rumours at least...
-
good start for Pelle
-
we had our best season for years last year...and quite a few games were either not a complete sell-out, or it was easy to get tickets just a few days before... until we have a large committed fan base, both here and elsewhere, we'll always struggle get deals that those with larger fan bases do.... the club needs to focus on increasing it's dedicated and committed fan base (i.e. getting more customers).. rathe rather than trying to get more out of its existing ones...

Sky Sources: New 5 Year Contract offered to Jay Rodriguez
Saint Jude replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
very surprised by the negativity to this... 1) I suspect the leak is for two reasons.. firstly to put some public pressure on JRod and 2 to demonstrate to fans/other clubs that we genuinely are a now holding the line about selling players 2) suspect the club's hand has been forced by an offer.. hence why they've rushed this.. rather than the wait and assess, with Cork 3) I wouldn't be worried about the injury...his game is not all about pace...surgery technology gets better all the time... and Shearer had some of his best years after snapping a cruciate almost 20 years ago. let's hope he signs.. and we also make a statement of intent to build from here... P.S. Hope Cork get a contract soon as well.. -
it's the hypocrisy whch gets me... England are cr*p because managers take the easy option of buying in cheaper foreign stars rather than developing their own.... but when a club develops their own... the media swarm like vultures as they can't understand why those players wouldn't want to leave to go to bigger clubs...which is hy England will always be rubbish...
