We’ve got, at most, 11 players who can genuinely compete in the Premier League. Yesterday, we were missing three of the best of them, which meant the usual ineffective replacements, like Armstrong, were forced onto the manager. Juric is far more accomplished than Martin at the top level (granted in Italy), and let’s not forget that Martin’s style led to game after game where we had all the possession but no shots. I reckon Juric will easily surpass the six points Martin managed and, honestly, I’d be happy with him in the Championship—provided he’s backed with the kind of signings his intense style demands.

A manager that plays Smallbone and Armstrong after their showings on Thursday clearly has no clue
-
Manager responsible for our great play for 60 minutes, followed by the worst substitutes imaginable. Partly due to our terrible squad but Smallbone, Armstrong and Wood were all atrocious decisions.
-
My point is that we are in a stronger place now than we are in 6 months time. Officially being a championship club in 6 months, plus the stronger competition from other relegated/promoted sides means that this could be the best time to strengthen.
-
I'm not on the Juric out train after such a short period of time, with a substandard group of players. Lets judge him at the end of Feb once he's had time to instil his style of play into the team. Personally I think it would be more sensible to try and buy some top quality players for next season now. We are really the only premier league team that can prepare for the championship now and there will be increased competition in May (including from the newly promoted teams), we are still a premier league team so anyone that comes to us can still showcase themselves for 6 months in the top flight, and it gives us time to bed the players into the team, so they can hit the ground running next season.

At what point do we hope for a spanking so they can finally move on our Russ
-
Four more loses and then do we sack Martin? This is entirely on sports republic and Martin isn't good enough. Choosing his mates, playing 5 at the back against weaker teams, and putting possession above cut through are just some of the reasons he will never improve.
-
Martin should have gone weeks ago. As with Ralph they've waited too long leaving us in a more dire position, which makes it even harder to attract a high calibre manager. Dragan needs to take the bull by the horns and start making some real decisions.
-
Unless Martin wins today, he should go. Our first half performance last week was disappointing, and yet he's sticking with the same lineup. Manning was poor, Stephens was ineffective, and Dibbling’s been dropped to the bench in favor of Armstrong—hardly an inspired decision. If things don’t improve, the board needs to take action and prevent us from continuing to stumble through the season.

Its great that we've won. I just don't know whether this is like the Nathan Jones moment against Manchester City, which gives Martin a stay of execution and by the time he does go, it will be too late to stay up. I could somewhat accept Martin's blunt style of play, if he didn't continually pick his ineffectual best mates like Stephens. He wasn't deemed good enough by Ralph which is why we brought in ABK, and he's not even getting a game. Do we even know what's happened to Taylor, arguably our best natural left back?

Didn't know Corbyn was a saints fan

Martin claims this style of football is the most attractive. Not the way he implements it. Sideways and backwards at every opportunity, and possession for possessions sake until we give the ball away. The sooner he's sacked the better
-
Russell Martin is the one who consistently makes bad decisions and ultimately will be held to account by the club. The perfect time would be after the Arsenal game so the new manager has a couple of weeks to start to implement their style against Leicester. Has RM shown that we can play a style that will beat Leicester if still in charge? Possibly, especially in the game against Ipswich. But the mental frailty will still exist, we don't look like scoring more than one goal again, and our style concedes at least 1 goal per game (being generous) so I'd suggest not. In which case we could be cut adrift in October, after an easy run of fixtures, and a mountain to climb to survive.
-
Should he be sacked if he loses tonight? Yes. Will he be sacked? Probably not.
-
Russell Martin is usually OK at setting the team up from the beginning. What he is typically not great at is adapting in game. When we're only 1-0 up you don't bring on Armstrong and Aribo, neither contributing anything and made us noticeably weaker. Personally think Russ has until the international break to get a win otherwise he's gone. And rightfully so
-
Would fuck things up for a team with zero wins and zero points, and countless defensive mistakes. Seems a stretch
-
ABK is arguably our best centre back, and if he does well for us this season, it could help us stay up, and increase his value when we inevitably sell next summer.
-
In reality RM has 2-3 games left to show that he can adapt the premier league and get the team consistently performing for 90 minutes. We were fantastic in the first 30 against united, but were pretty dire against Brentford and Forest. He made mistakes with formations and selections that have contributed to that, but there have been enough green shoots to show that he's learning and can turn things around. Fingers crossed it happens
-
Great goal. Not even sure why armstrong is on the pitch. Bring on the loch ness monster!
-
ABK is clearly our best CB in terms of raw ability. If we keep conceding goals at the back we'll be forced to bring him in to the fold, likely once Martin is given the sack
-
We should play 2 at the back. Either THB or ABK would be better.
-
Poor selection. Prepare to be bored until 70th minute, when we're 1-0 behind and he reacts with the inevitable subs. Lets hope Sugawara isn't sacrificed to keep an out of position Stephens on this week.
-
Team I'd like to see: Ramsdale Sugawara THB Bednarak KWP Downes Big Les Fernandes Dibling BBD Archer Team we will see: Ramsdale Sugawara THB Stephens KWP Downes, Smallbone, Aribo Armstrong, Archer, BBD
-
100% agree. If we can't sell and get a good fee, we should keep and send Wood out on loan. He's clearly nowhere near first team quality
-
Agree if it's a choice between the two. My point is that we should be aiming for better
