It's peak Russell Martin. 0 strikers on the pitch and 5 on the bench. We have a fair squad, who if played to their strengths would have a shot at survival in this league. He is failing them and us.

So he should be. It’s a results business not philosophy. I am sure his new contract will cushion the blow should he get the axe. His (our) only hope is that Ross, BBD or Archer prove themself as a goal scorer pre transfer window.

We’ve had a lot more positives than points in the league this season. Many a Saints team would have crumbled on penalties in years gone by but the boys took their shots until one of the opposition hit McCarthy. Was great to see Lallana justify his year contract in 45 minutes and the confidence of our pen takers. We need to be more clinical in open play, but I think we could be ok based on tonight..

I think our top earner is currently Aribo on £70k p/w - Not sure we'd be covering JWP's wages at £100k.

Possibly the lowest moment for me supporting Southampton against this lot two years ago. Sure I've seen a couple of 9-0's but this hurt more. A true bellweather of how we will do.
