Just back from the game. Tame first half - apart from the first five minutes - and somehow getting wet in a new stadium!!!! Improved second half performance and whilst there was a stroke of good fortune for the first, Lambert showed his class with a well taken penalty and a lovely lob to top it off nicely. Davies made a couple of good stops and a couple of dodgy kicks aside did well. Defence did reasonably well and dealt with most things. Fonte is class. Thought Hammond was a bit anonymous today but impressed with Puncheon - though he ran out of steam towards the end of the game. Strikeforce are top drawer. Barnard ran his socks off and Lambert is just Lambert. Excellent. We MUST not let him go this summer if a bigger club comes sniffing. He is key to next season promotion push. Papa Waigo (offside every time again) was ok and Conoly showed his class as always. Overall a happy journey home though a mention must be made of the terrible refereeing today. I have no idea what he saw sometimes and how he missed other incidents. Truly shocking performance from him. COYS and get us some silverware now.

It cracks me up how fickle some fans are. We were world beaters after Saturday and now we're ****e. Get a grip people and put some perspective on tonight's result and some of the other poor results we've had this season. Swindon are in the top 6 for a good reason and after the start we had and transition we have been and still are going through, it's no surprise we're going to get odd results like some of those we've had. I fully believe next season will be completely different and we'll hit the ground running with AP still in charge and should comfortably finish in the top 2 or 6. Look where sacking manager after manager has got us over the past ten years!
-
Feel sick at the scoreline which does NOT reflect a game that we dominated and should have had sewn up before their first goal. But never mind. In a season or two we'll be playing a very different Skates side in the CCC and the scoreline home and away will be very different as well. At least we're going to Wembley. They've got a few games to get there.....if they're still in business. He he he.

The thing that makes me laugh the most is where were the extra 10-15k fans were over the last few seasons when I was watching us play crap football along with the other 16k die hard fans! No doubt if we return to the Prem it will be the same and the glory hunters will be back. I'm not a ST holder nor a member now yet I've been to enough games this and recent seasons to justify me a ticket but I doubt I'll get one now.......
-
Bring it on. Thank you God. I was at SMS the last time we played the Skates there in that hugely enjoyable victory with Pahars scoring a beauty. They've yet to beat us at SMS and the FA Cup being what it is, expect an upset. Tickets may be like gold dust but I imagine it will be on telly anyway. Can't wait..........

Just about sums up my view of the match. Didn't see much wrong with our 'offside' goal and overall the ref was an absolute ****. First half dire second much better and we deserved a point at the minimum. Antonio was shocking I'm afraid. We looked so much more of a threat when Waigo & Connolly were on the pitch. Looking forward to the U's coming to SMS where I think we'll see a very different outcome.

I started supporting Saints in the early 80's having moved down with my parents from Tottenham and remember this season well. Without a doubt our best season in my living memory (I was too young and lived in London in 1976) but this season could match it....albeit in very different league! Funnily enough I have a laminated team photo from the 83/84 season on my desk and refer to it as the best Saints team ever. Happy memories........
-
Over the moon with yet another 3-1 win (you just knew when it went 3-0 they'd pull one back). I have to keep pinching myself. We've not had such a good run since the good old days of the 80's. Looking forward to the Colchester away game now - that's the next fixture I can get to!
-
Should be three points tonight against one of the poorest (though improving slowly) sides in the league and a great chance to get out of the bottom 4 and even higher if other results go our way...... So Saints being the team we love and adore and know so well, prepare for another shock defeat ala BHA and another week or two in the drop zone!
-
I'll be going with my sons as it's only an hour or so from me. Antbody know what the parking situation is like there? I have previously been to Layer Rd but never the new ground.
-
Very frustrating indeed. More points dropped and still well and truly trapped in the bottom 4! However Norwich are up there with Leeds & Charlton in terms of ability etc and so it's not as bad as it seems. Had we not lost to Brighton (normal service resumed for them today!) it would be viewed as a reasonable result. GOT to tighten up at the back though. It's ridiculous to be conceding the number of goals we currently are.
-
Bloody hell that was a bit too close at the end there but great result all the same. Keeps the momentum going and hopefully make it to a big tie in round 3 (if we get there).
-
Just back form the game. How we let them score two goals is beyond me! On another day we'd have won that 6-0. Great atmosphere and support as always. Lambert & Connoly are a different class and we MUST sign Antonio if at all possible. Great day out. It's so refreshing to come away from games with a smile on my face.....

Sorry to sound smug but got my tickets early. Looking forward to this one very much now.......

FFS Saints, give me something to moan about!...............Oh okay, why did we let one in? Same old same...... Bloody fantastic feeling to have three league wins on the bounce and the last two being away from home. Off the bottom, out of the relegation zone next then who knows...... COYR's
-
What a fantastic feeling this is. How long have we waited for a week like this? Keeps it up Pard's and the boys. Just bought my tickets for the O's away game on the strength of this result. Faith restored..........

From what I witnessed last night after the last game I went to (Brentford at SMS) we have come on in leaps and bounds. Give it another half a dozen games and we'll be putting teams to the sword on a regular basis. Bristol Rovers are a good side who are where they are on merit at the moment and we outplayed them for 70 minutes. I'd give Pards until Xmas before even considering whether he's the right man for the job. He needs time. Simple as that. I'm sure he'll come good.
-
Right. Now I've had time to calm down after spending hours in the car to watch the game and Saints ruining my son's 13th birthday...... I was mightily impressed with what I saw for the first 70 minutes (their first goal aside) comparing it with the last game I went to against Brentford. We passed the ball around very nicely and actually showed some real threat - hence the two goals plus many missed opportunities coming from open play for a change. TBH we were all over them until their inspired substitution. I'm not going to panic yet as there are reasons to be optomistic. Rovers are a good side and they're not where they are in the league by chance. It's just so sickening that their winner came so late and beyond the 5 minutes allocated (5.13 according to the BBC). And does anybody else feel like me that there was a conspiracy among the officials last night to have us over? So many poor decisions it beggars belief. Bring on the Gills. I fancy 3 points on Saturday.....
-
Not sure whether to be happy with an away point or cheesed off at our failure to beat a team we really should be beating.......... I'll be there Tuesday where hopefully we can get into positive points and kick onwards and upwards......I won't hold my breath though!
-
I'm more HOPEFUL of a win rather than expecting it this weekend. Sorry to sound pessimistic but the years of supporting Saints have taken their toll on me. However I do feel slightly more optimistic with recent acquisitions and results. COYR's.......please, please let's get our season up and running at last!
-
I've only been to the Brentofrd game so far this season but based on that I thought that we played the ball sideways far too often, lacked width and pace and thus lack of balls into the danger area for Lambert to finish and also failed to capitalise on set-pieces (when will we ever take a decent corner?). But I'm sure Pards is working on that!.....well I hope so anyway.
-
I should be happy with that point but still feel cheesed off that we let a lead slip and are still searching for our first win! Still, being the optimist that I am, I fully expect us to give Yeovil a good spanking next week and then go on a run of four or five straight wins........
-
As per my post on the prediction thread...a Charlton supporting friend of mine says they have been lucky thus far and teams have shown them far too much respect. Let's wait and see........I suspect I could be eating humble pie on Saturday evening, just for a change!
-
They've got Bailey (WHO?) & Racon (WHO?) as doubts and we've got Jaidi & Waigo starting....... make of that what you will and our reasonable form at Charlton and you come up with .....2-0 to Saints!
-
I was having a drink with a Charlton supporting (ST holder) mate of mine today and he says they are in a false position and have been lucky thus far and that the teams they've played have shown them too much respect..... I suspect we will do our usual and against the odds beat them 2-0. I think we're tight at the back and with Waigo up front wreaking havoc, it could just be our day and the start of the rest of the season. But then again how many false dawns have we had over the last couple of years?
