National : entre Valenciennes et Concarneau, deux relĂ©gations pas la mĂȘme ambition - La Voix du Nord National: Valenciennes and Concarneau, two relegated sides with different ambitions VAFC face their first test on Friday at Le Hainaut (7.30pm) against another Ligue 2 relegation zone side. Both clubs have taken the same lift, but the ambition to climb back up the table immediately is much more pronounced in the north than in Brittany. Having returned to the National Championship twenty years after being relegated, VA have never hidden the fact that they will be doing everything in their power to avoid staying there forever. This was stated as early as April at the time of the relegation and has been repeated by the management and then the sporting staff ever since. âIt's an anomaly that VA are in the National,â Ahmed Kantari told La Voix des Sports at the start of the season. âWe're going to do everything we can to put the club back where it belongs,â added Julien Masson, confirming the club's ambition. After all the talk, it's time for action, and VAFC have set to work, climbing the steps one by one to fulfil the mission they have set themselves. With 10 points from four games, the initial progress has been good, but there is still a long way to go. This clash with another relegated Ligue 2 side will tell us a little more about what VA have in their bellies, even if the Bretons have not made the top flight an obsession. "The club realised that it wasn't quite ready for League 2 and lost more money than it made by always playing away from home." Relegated at the end of their first season in L2, Concarneau paid dearly for not being able to play in their substandard stadium. âThe club realised that it wasn't quite ready for Ligue 2 and lost more money than it made by always playing away,â explains Dylan Le Mee, a journalist at Ouest-France. Forced into exile by Lorient, Guingamp, Brest, Caen and Rennes in order to play at home, the Thoniers have not experienced their descent into the National as a catastrophe. "Avoiding the drop" Back in their historic stadium, with a new coach - StĂ©phane Rossi - used to performing at this level, a squad 80% renewed and many players taken from the N2, Concarneau are giving themselves time: âThe objective is first to stay up, to avoid going down,â says Dylan Le Mee. But if they can go up, they won't deprive themselves. Their good start (4th) has already made the Bretons a first hurdle on the long road to Valenciennes.

The day after the match, we picked up a point at Rouen. It was a complicated game, but we were a little lucky at the end with a deflected goal that put us back on level terms. There were 300 Valenciennes supporters in the stands yesterday. Go VA!
-
I wish us a victory for both our clubs today. Allez les saint, allez valenciennes!

Hello everyone. First of all, getting 9 points out of 9 has been something that hasn't happened to us for years - I can't even remember when! We couldn't have wished for a better start! All the same, we remain lucid and humble, as the championship has only just begun. For several years now, I can assure you that we've lost matches like this, but what strength of character! Friends, we're enjoying this new lease of life, it's crazy, so is this happiness?

Tonight, for those watching the match, you will see above the supporters' stand a large tarpaulin put up this season with the following message: âProud of our land, proud of our club, proud of our historyâ. As the upper part of the stadium is not open to the public this season (for the time being), the club has decided to put up this 128 metre long and 8 metre high tarpaulin with the help of the supporters. How did VA fans dress up the Nungesser stand? va-fc.com

Good morning folks, match day for Valenciennes as they welcome Chateauroux to the Stade du Hainaut. Here's the YouTube link where you can watch the match for free. VAFC / Chateauroux Allez VA!

Of course, we've had a good start to the season, and we're delighted to see a team fighting for its colours, and I think the momentum will only continue in that direction. So let's get on with it this Friday, when we welcome Chateauroux to the Stade du Hainaut!

When SR allows Southampton to move up a division in season 2 of governance, When SR allows Goztepe to move up a division in season 2 of governance, how can we not believe that the scenario will be repeated here at Valenciennes? I'm confident for this season, even if we'll have to fight for every match, but with the team and the collective that's gradually starting to come together, it could be really interesting!
-
Thanks for sharing it with our friends in Southampton. I'll be at the stadium tonight! Allez VA!
-
Of course I'm pleased to see that my friends at Southampton are giving us their help and support with the loan of this player. We'll take good care of him, folks!
-
I'm delighted he's come, and I think the reason Southampton's sporting director chose him is that he'll soon be able to play in the Premier League. He's a good prospect for me and I sincerely hope that he'll make a big contribution to our team and help us have a great season.

It's amazing how negative you can be, dear colleague... Unlike the opinion of many of our French compatriots, I think that our sporting director, Ben Chorley, is very consistent in his recruitment, he understood very well that there were big mistakes last year... As for Ernesto, he may have had a new project that suits him a little better, but the official reason was not given...

Exactly! Match replayed in its entirety with a score of 0-0. The reason the date is so late is that every Friday is taken up by a league match, so it's hard to find an earlier slot. Let's hope this match goes well this time... For your information, here's the state of the refreshment room after the fire:
-
It's incredible what happened last night... In sporting terms, we got off to a very poor start with a penalty conceded in the 3rd minute for an avoidable foul by Julien Masson, then a fairly even match with a slight advantage for Valenciennes who pushed for an equaliser and succeeded thanks to Nick Venema. The aim before half-time was to hold on for a draw or score a second goal, but in the end that was not to be. And then there was the incident in the refreshment room at half-time, which led to the match being stopped for good.

Orléans - VAFC: the refreshment room ravaged by fire, the match definitively stopped A surreal scene unfolded on Friday evening at the Stade de la Source in Orléans, where the refreshment bar caught fire just before the start of the second half of the match between USO and Valenciennes. The stadium had to be evacuated and the match stopped. And it will not be resumed. Flames began to emerge from the roof of the refreshment room behind one of the goals at the Source stadium in Orléans. Then thick smoke began to fill the stadium, which was eventually evacuated. Orléans and Valenciennes were about to resume the match, which was to be the start of the second half. At the end of the first forty-five minutes, the two teams were level at 1-1, Nick Venema (25th) having replied to Fahid El Khoumisti's early opener from the penalty spot (3rd). All the stands were evacuated and the match had to be abandoned. It will not resume and there will be no replay this weekend. The French federation must now decide on a new date.
-
Match definitively called off for today following a fire in the stadium refreshment room. No further information, but I'll keep you informed.
-
In the 25th minute, a Valenciennes supporter unfortunately fell as he passed on the left-hand side of the stands... Jean Louchet, our goalkeeper, asked the emergency services to intervene, which meant that the match had to be stopped for almost 10 minutes. The Valenciennes supporter was taken to Orléans hospital for further tests, but the news is that he is fine.
-
It's completely crazy what's happening tonight, 40 minutes after Valenciennes' equaliser, a supporter falls on the side of the stand, as in the photo below. At half-time, in the refreshment room, a chip fire breaks out behind the goals... It's just incredible what's happening tonight...

From what I hear, SR centralises the performances of all the players from the three clubs, and the data is analysed and compared internally. I know that they work hard and do their best to get the three teams into the best possible shape.
