I like it how the highlights barely mentioned anything about how strong our second half was, or showed either of the penalty appeals, which I really wanted to see again. Ref was an absolute disgrace yesterday, I really think we were conned out of another great comeback. We played some cracking stuff and got nothing out of it. But the poor ref was just winding our players up, understandably, and so we ended up 2-1 losers but by far the better team.

As far as this goes, the confidence of having a new manager may be the simple explanation for this. I can't remember the exact figures (or be bothered to find stats) but when Souness took over at Newcastle a similar pattern emerged, I think they may have even won their first 7 games under him.

I can understand the frustration but really, who can be angry about signing an 18 year old for 6 months? It's not as if we're signing him instead of a full back. OK I agree, our priority should be with signing at least one full back. Pretty sure we were refused a work permit for Adebayor, something stupid like he had only played in 70% of international games rather than 75%. Either way it doesn't really matter.
