  1. Long interview with Martin in the Sunday Times sports section today. Mostly about his background and (not very happy) childhood though, rather than football. He comes across well.
  2. Yes what did happen? The tv only showed after it had started. Hope there's no danger of the league or FA investigating ...... a fine for "not controlling our players", or worse, a suspension for someone for "bringing game into disrepute"
  3. Is Martin trying to lose this game?
  4. Have I missed something going on with che Adams? Surely the obvious player to bring on
  5. One of my favourite saints memories is playing Leeds at home , I think soon after we'd been promoted to championship from L1. We went 3 nil up and the Leeds fans started chanting "what the f uck is going on?" You never know ....... 😉
  6. Just stop the suicidal reoeatedly playing it short in defence until someone makes a mistake and gives the opposition a scoring chance. It seems that we do this because it's fashionable.... Man City do it etc... but we haven't got the players City have.
  7. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. It's desperation isn't it really? We all want everything to be better once X , or Y, is back. Downes is worth his place though, preferably alongside Charles.
  8. There's also a huge hole at captain..... another aspect of JWP's game that some on here criticised. It was really noticeable in the last 2 home games how no one was really pulling the team together, to rally and fight back. I've nothing against AA but he doesn't seem a captain to me. In fact the most vocal player seemed to be young Harwood-Bellis. It's also noticeable how JWP is quite vocal in the bits of West Ham games that I've seen on TV.
  9. Can't he just wait for one of the opposing players to pass it straight to him near the penalty area, like our players do with the opposition ?
  10. You need to come and sit with us old codgers in the Kingsland. We've seen it all before. Besides, shouting abuse at our own players might risk spilling my thermos flask. 😉
  11. Sorry if this has been pointed out before, but for those who come to the game from outside the city, be warned that the M3 is closed this evening between jns 11 and 9 northbound.
  12. Kwp seems to be in the left? Who's playing RB?
  13. Got to feel sorry for Charles, but iit's good to actually have serious competition for places. Nowadays of course it's a 11-16 man game not just 11. Expect we'll see quite a few subs.
  14. A.B-K Seems weird to be trying to get rid of a young player who's recently become a full German international. I know he was injured quite a lot but surely he's had the op on his shoulder over the summer? Unless he really is crocked, he will be a top player IMO
  15. I know absolutely nothing about Tom Cannon, but it's hard to believe that Everton have a striker who's any good - or they'd want to be playing him themselves surely? PS Is he a big shot? Should we roll out the barrel for him? Etc....
  16. Has he signed in time to be eligible for tomorrow?
  17. Particularly their complaints about chelsea tapping up --- something they never do! Ask van dijk, lallana, etc.
  18. Agree. Now they get to the quicker bit sooner, it gets even us old fogeys in the Kingsland clapping. And OWTS is our song. It's important to keep tradition and anything that's particular to one club going, or every crowd becomes interchangeable. Similarly good on the Norwich fans for still singing "on the ball city" - their song for many many years - and Stoke for delilah (if it's still allowed!) .... etc.
  19. Well that scuppers that idea! 😄 Wonder why Chelsea seem to be going above the 50 then. Seems to be too good to not have a catch.
  20. I wonder if the 'contract' mentioned here is for the transfer, rather than for the player himself. Ie are they trying to spread the fee over 7 years of installments to get around FFP ? That might explain why they'd go above our quoted price of £50mill....to persuade us to take the fee more slowly.
  21. I remember Strachan saying something like he was surprised referees didn't simply book Lundekvam for time-wasting every time he went up for a corner.😂
  22. Well I'm really upset to see him go. Don't blame him going back into thr premier league, but had hoped he'd be a one-club player, having watched him develop from a youngster. He's a cracking player ---- box to box runner, amazing fitness and of course one of the very best set piece experts, and crosser. Fee seems a little low too given his line contract. Should have been 40 million.
  23. Doesn't sound good. He has the potential to be another Mane IMO. Wouldn't want to lose him now. But if it's a one year loan so he can prove himself in the Premier league, then come back tovus after we're promoted........
  24. That's really poor supporter service. Hope you find somewhere else to park for this season.
