    Luke Shaw

Yes and what is more we targeted him in that game ...putting long balls in to Rickie on his wing. On that basis I had severe reservatrions about Clyne when we bought him. So far he has proved me very wrong. Fox however I've watched for much longer of course and to me he has never looked any better than Harding. He's fine going forward but has poor positional sense and is far too prone to give the ball away carelessly. in fact he'd probably be better as a left-side midfield player, where he'd be less exposed defensively... but we have far better options than him there already.
  2. i've stoped even trying to read the official web site. I suspect others look at it far less often too.
  3. Can some explain the logic of the tandem cycling to me? Blind cyclist on the back, 'piloted' by a sighted cyclist on the front, the blind athlete gets most or all of the glory -- it's even officially called the individual sprint. But the 'pilot' also pedals. What's to stop Team GB putting Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, etc, in as pilots?

    Pistorius

They looked longer yes, and he did overtake strongly down the straight (as Pistorius usually does to others btw) BUT, if you look at a replay he was striding very quickly ..more paces per minute than pistorius .. so the issue was not simply the length of his stride, which is presumably all that the length of the blades affects. The trouble is, once the paralympics stopped just being therapy for the disabled competitors and started being treated as high level competitive sport, all the boundaries, classifications, rules, etc, came under strain. The whole thing went badly wrong a few years back when the spanish put in a team of 'learning disabled' players ..who weren't. How could those gits live with themselves?

    Pistorius

I wonder if Oscar Pestorius has really thought through his bad loser rant? He is effectively saying that a runner can gain an unfair advantage from his/her 'blades', making them a better runner than they should be. By saying this he has surely just undermined all his arguments over recent years insisting on being allowed to run in able-bodied events? Because the logical follow-on from this is surely that it might give them an unfair advantage over able-bodied athletes, and might even make them a better runner than they would have been with normal legs. And if it is possible to gain an advantage from some sorts of prosthetics, given the corruption, drug-taking etc, that is rife in top sporting events ,how long before someone has completely medically unnecessary surgical enhancements to make them more competitive? There are already suggestions that the Chinese are pretty much genetically engineering swimmers for the able-bodied Olympics.
  6. Quite. I worry that we have signed a promising young centre forward, yet seem detemined to undermine his confidence by playing him out of position. The really weird thing was Nigel taking off Lambert yesterday but putting Mayuka in the middle and still JRod on the wing. I noticed that Kelvin's long kicks were all aimed to the left from then on, at JRod --because he is a target man. Surely it would have made more sense to put Guly and Mayuka on the wings with JRod in the middle? It's a bit like buying a Ferrari , using it as a tractor, then complaining it isn't very good.
  7. Beginning to look like my post of the 23rd was pretty accurate! [h=2][/h] My prediction: Chainrai takes over, then offers the trust a deal for them to buy the football club as such, but with him retaining Fratton Park and charging them rent at a silly rate, say even £1 million a year, effectively getting a return on his money without losing his equity. If the trust won't (or more likely can't) do the deal, he either builds up big debts all over again, extracting whatever he can from the parachute payments and reneging on football creditors deals then makes a run for it ---- or he just liquidates immediately, leaving FP to rot for a bit till the council give up on their probably uneforceable restrictions and let him build there. 8. Not me ,but the Knott lads in the GB team are from around here..... go to school /college in winchester/eastleigh area .....so they are bound to have local supporters, and therefore likely to have saints fans watching them
  9. Well a loan would certainly surprise me. How many times do we have to keep saying there are no loans in the premier league until the window opens again in January.
  10. What we still need is a left back. Really worried about Fox against the likes of Nani!
  11. And any footballer out drinking at 4.30 am during the season when they are supposed to be 'in training', ought to be fined a signficant chunk of the ridiculous wages they're paid.
  12. You do realise that the pen must be of 70% Italian and 30% Uruguyan manufacture, and can only be used after a training fee has been paid ?
  13. Well, fasting would be lightening .......
  14. So no chance of Yoshida playing against Man U, but presumably Mayuka might be on the bench?
  15. Do bearin mind that Sky also said he'd signed about 2 days ago. I'm believing nothing till the official saints news comes
  16. Or, as a property developer, expect not to get paid so he can evict PFC in a few months and then develop the ground for housing or retail, once the council have given up on their unenforceable restrictions.
  17. Obviously he should play only on the extreme right wing, and never ever in Europe. Ok Dune?
  18. You will find that the baby sh!ts more than a little bit. Having a baby teaches you much about bodily functions. As someone implies in the thread, there is no one right way. Ignore anyone who says 'it must be done like this'. Just try to stay calm, and do what seems natural to you. We've got 3 ,now grown up, kids, and I reckon we did everything right -- with one of them!
  19. Given alll the fuss about our move to 4-3-3, it's interesting to note that united usually play 4-4-2, though they occasionally switch to 4-5-1 depending on the opposition.
  20. I'm sorry but the song contest was won days ago with the far better last line someone suggested of "he's not the racist guy"
  21. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1531553/The-family-qualifications.html See above for a list of royals' qualis and although Harry's qulaifications meet the minimum requirements for the army officer entry, most officer recruits will have more than him. I know more about Navy officer entry. He'd be considered by the RN with just 2 iffy A levels, but I wouldn't rate his chances of actually getting in for officer training...it's quite competitive
  22. The way I see it Harry can't have it both ways. Either he's a normal lad with a career in the army, in which he is entitled to privacy ,BUT would not be able to afford the lifestyle he has, -- Or he's a royal with all the money, security and special treatment that brings , at taxpayers expense, and who expects ordinary citizens to stand in respect for him etc, in which case he should behave like a public figure.
  23. That was a reference to pap's "Know that Russia is not part of the EU, but they seem to be at the other end of the scale when it comes to foreign imports" ....since you ask
