  1. Whats your source for that ?
  2. I had much the same thought... With Yoshida as an alternative CB, at least until Chambers really grows into the role. Btw, I think Chambers played at CB before he got into to the first team at RB?
  3. We actually have no idea how that process went . It seems that Nc has decided to sack Adkins well before he did so. Presumably he started his search for a replacement as soon as he made his private decision , but since he hadn't yet publicly sacked Adkins , there wasn't the intense scrutiny of every visitor to the UK, or trip to Spain ,or detailed analysis of earlobes that we are getting now. For all we know Cortese might have secretly interviewed several candidates over a period of weeks before Adkins left.
  4. This. But I also reckon Chambers will end up as a top class centre back.
  5. Yes and no. If he misses out financially by requesting a transfer officially, then chances are he'll expect liverpool to pay him more to compensate him.
  6. Er no, Bournemouth didn't allow him to speak to us. Their **** of a chairman made huge fuss about it, and supposedly Howe didn't want to come to us anyway. Were you a saints fan then? I very much doubt Magath will end up talking to us ... Though admittedly absolutely anything can happen in the mad world of football. To have been linked with us is a good thing for him.
  7. you really do live in a strange world.
  8. Just because the mirror is reporting now that we aren't being allowed to talk to Marath ,does not mean a) it's necessarily true, b) that if it was true , it was only very recent. It might have been before we spoke to Koeman. And IMO it is much more likely that Marath has leaked the story, rather than Saints, to strengthen his position at Fulham .... Look I must be a good manager, even PL teams are interested in me. Don't sack me. It definitely does not necessarily mean we were particularly keen on him. But also, yes, you're right, it is good tactics for saints to have Koeman, or any other candidate, realise that they are not our only option. We don't want him to have too strong a negotiating position.
  9. I'd have thought that to be approached by a PL club when you've only been at a club for a few months, and that club had been relegated, would *strengthen* the manager's position, not ruin it. Which is probably why it's been leaked to the press, I imagine by him or his agent.
  10. Harsh. Just because he might have been on our list of possibles, according to one newspaper, it is a pretty huge step to your 'world is ending' scenario. Personally if I were stupid enough to ever bet, I'd still be betting on Koeman anyway.
  11. Not necessarily. Am not ITK, but my interpretation is that we are genuinely looking at a range of candidates, have interviewed Koeman, wanted to interview and may have interviewed a few others , and asked to speak to the Fulham manager as part of that .... But were apparently refused permission. I don't think that means that we actually wanted Magath, just that he was on our list of possibles, and neither does it mean that we don't want or have been turned down by Koeman. Just that we are looking at all options before we decide for certain. After all , this is potentially a long term appointment; it could be as much as 6 months or so before Spurs try to nick this one.
  12. "Fierce rivals" ! Lol. It's like having a little brother who in spite of it being hopeless, keeps trying to beat you at chess/beat you up/nick your girlfriend (delete as applicable to your family and class background)
  13. Yes but if Liverpool say to them, "agree to say £3 million as a once and for all payment to write off the contract, or get nothing , because we aren't going to budge over £25 million, and even that has conditions" ... So it's £3 million now or nothing.... Then I can see Bournemouth taking that over a vague hope of 25% of some unknown fee in a few years time when Adam's contract runs down. If Blackmore is right and we've said to Liverpool we want to clear £20 million, then the deal could go ahead on that sort of basis.
  14. According to what was posted a day or two ago, presumably we're waiting for the 'heels of the week'
  15. Presumably by the way, we would also happily release Adam, like we did Rickie, to return to his boyhood club, his first and only true love ...Bournemouth?
  16. This. It's about time bloody footballers learnt that a contract is a contract.
  17. No he hasn't GS. He has a record as a WUM
  18. Some humour at last!
  19. Much easier or fly to/from Southampton/Amsterdam though ...why london? Unless you can get a posh seat there, and he's not prepared toix with the hoi poloi on Flybe?
  20. I'd be happy with koeman, but let's hope that whoever they appoint will arrive soon, and put his foot down over selling players
  21. Panic on the main board and boredom here. How things have changed Where's a good old-fashioned East European crook ( sorry - obviously I mean saviour) when you need one?
  22. When you come down to it, what manager is there who has a completely successful record, apart from those who have little or no record? They've all got flaws, as did Pochettino. Koeman's career win ratio is well over 50% btw, including his only poor spell, when he was at Valencia . Pochettino's record with is was what 35%? Different leagues, different circumstances yes, but Koeman's record includes CL, and Benfica, Ajax, Valencia, Feyenord etc are not Mickey Mouse clubs by anyone's standards.
  23. That's the spirit!
  24. Maybe they don't send their evenings looking at internet rumours like us sad gits on here?
  25. Yeah ...saw that. So if we really are turning down anything less than £30 million for AL, will the hysteria over the Board having a fire sale stop?
