  1. Wow! Predictive text! Money entomology = momentum!
  2. Any actual news of someone coming in before the game at Watford? I understand players like Walcott are likely to sign at the end of the window, if at all, but surely we need some fresh money entomology for this weekend?
  3. And he's only 28. Some on here seem to think he's a geriatric!
  4. Well he may be pit of favour at Arsenal, but he is an England international and ,in spite of some on here speaking as if he is a has-been, he is only 28. So,given the ridiculous transfer fee inflation of recent years, a fee of £30 million isn't so silly. But as ive said before. I think his wages are more of a problem for us than the transfer fee. If he plays well, he'll soon be worth more than £30million at today's prices, so we'd recover his fee if/when we sell, but we'd never get back his wages AND paying him a lot would unsettle the rest of the team.
  5. that would be good news if correct, because I'd have thought wages were the bigger problem, rather than the transfer fee. He's on over 100k a week at Arsenal I believe .
  6. same thing occurred to me.

    Prowsey

Sunday Times report calls him 'excellent', and rated him a 9. Maybe it's about time our fans appreciated that he is actually quite a good player?
  8. Well I'm inclined to give Pelegrino more time, I'm the same way as I was with puel. As to last night, several usually reliable players, eg Davis and Lemina, had awful games, and we looked really poor defensively. Leicester played really well. I was particularly struck by Schmeichel'sdistribution. Time after time they had a strong attack following a kick or throw from the keeper. Isn't that their 7th win in 8 games or something? They're really on a roll. We just need to put this game behind us and pretend it never happened!
  9. Yes that who it was. Fair enough. It looked a clear deliberate stop to me at the time , but maybe I was just a tiny bit biased! Thanks .
  10. Anybody seen a replay of the handball (?) by one of their defenders, as the last man so he would have been sent off if the ref had given it? Looked clear from where I was.
  11. Quite. Wise words from your 14 year old. And compared to what we went through a few years back, this isn't even very rough. I've not particularly enjoyed the past couple of years, but some here need to get a sense of proportion. Being a slightly boring mid table Premier league team would have been beyond our wildest dreams only a few years ago.

There are several free smartphone apps that read sound levels. (And I thought I was the old git!)

I think the differences of view may relate to how close you are to a speaker. We have one pointing right at us. Elsewhere in the same stand isn't quite so bad. I suspect the club just test the volume of the music, not with the announcer shouting over it.

Far too loud reached 86 decibels briefly last game when the announcer shouted over the music . Don't care about the choice of music - I'm an old git - but you're supposed to wear ear defenders if you work in 85db. Please do email the club if you find it toi loud. Just one or two people complaining is just ignored. It needs more. And they should stop it when the teams come out. As it is, the pa drowns out any crowd noise.
  15. Thanks all. So I short it was either a clear penalty, or it clear wasn't! At the time, from the Kingsland it looked definite. Couldn't believe ref didn't give it.
  16. How did the penalty shout look? Match of the day didn't even discuss it, yet the Sunday Times report said everyone except the ref thought it was a penalty
  17. Is the weather really all that bad in Southampton this morning ? I live about 30 miles north of the city and whilst it is windy here, with occasional bursts of heavy rain, it's not much more than you'd expect on a normal Autumn windy day. From here you certainly wouldn't have cancelled the great south run. Our enclosed stadium tends to deflect the worst of high winds during a game too ...... Unless someone boots it too high!
  18. Blimey! So thats what keepers are supposed to do.
  19. That quite a strong team. Interstiting that McQueen is being used as a forward again, when it's not so long ago we converted him to a full back. and yes, let's hope Hesketh can get back to form now he's back, and press for first team consideration .
  20. And stop drowning out the fans before the game with ridiculously loud music and pa even when the players are on the pitch. No atmosphere builds up before kick off.

Bloke who writes it used to teach in Winchester, which presumably explains the local knowledge.
  22. This. And if he plays well he'll eventually go for more than we would have got this summer. Win -win . If the club holds its nerve.
  23. If van Dijk goes now to Chelsea or better still, somewhere abroad, I could just about live with that if we get a big price and spend most of it on improving the squad. If he goes to Liverpool I'm not sure that I could stomach it. Have already bought my season ticket so of course will continue to go , but maybe this would be my last season. I don't know ..... I've been watching football for about 45 years so it's a big part of my life. But the cynicism, greed and straightforward lying that now seems to be prevalent in football at this level makes me sick. Greedy players and agents and bloody tv will eventually kill the golden goose as more and more fans become disenchanted.
  24. Only some people! Some of us were gutted when we couldn't sign him after his loan. A really good player IMO.
