I'd call that a typical Saints game. Alton Towers has got no bigger rollercoaster than being a Saints fan. At two all I really thought there was only one team going to win it and it wasn't Saints but they found something. Imo just when you think referees couldn't get any worse they do, I thought he was shite today. And perhaps someone can clear up what was the discussion about after the penalty?
-
Could you rephrase this please so it is understandable to a person of average intelligence.
-
I think maybe top two has gone now , so maybe that is a bit of pressure off. What would be good now is to relax, play with freedom and expression, and consolidate the play-off place but hone our game so we smash it in those play-offs.

As others have said, a Hail Mary win, but a very welcome and essential win nevertheless. One thing I found slightly bemusing was a line from the manager’s post match comments (set against the background of the number of goals we are conceding lately): "To play the, way we play you have to be a bit vulnerable sometimes with the ball. It's a bit scary. But I've loved watching it. And that spirit will help us for sure in the last quarter of the season." To admit that your brand of football leaves you vulnerable and scares even the manager seems a bit odd to me. I would hope that when we concede because of the way we play he doesn’t love it quite as much. Surely most managers would have a plan B? I hope I’m not moaning just because I can, I just found his comment rather odd. We can’t always be scoring four when we have conceded three.

The two are inextricably linked.

Yep, playing in strikers who can actually score goals….and by that I mean not playing in opposition strikers by fannying around at the back or in midfield. You’re welcome…

Why is it nonsense? The point he made is equally as valid as yours. Don't forget you are submitting opinions not facts, so others are allowed to have conflicting but equally valid opinions to yours.

Nah, all he'll do is contribute even more hot air to global warming, same as all these exponentially increasing number of prunedits do. -

Interesting that Leicester have signalled where their priorities are this season. Nine changes for the cup game -

Let's get it out of the way, lose, and then move onto the real business of the season. It can't be a coincidence that form has dropped so badly since this game was on the horizon, they have to have had half an eye on it. Lose, move on, start winning again. -
This.

We're not playing lovely stuff now. Today as with Tuesday was clueless.

What really annoyed me was that Millwall weren't good, they weren't clever, basically they were just there. And we still couldn't beat them.

I felt last night that part of the difference was that when Hull were passing their way out of trouble they were going forward, ie their players were able to run on to the ball which made their transition a fast one. I felt that too many times our players seemed to receive the ball facing their own goal thus having to turn away from markers etc. slowing the whole thing down.

Hull give every team a blueprint to beat us?
Oldandtired replied to Daft Kerplunk's topic in The Saints
I think it’s been coming tbh…the unbeaten run did paper over a few cracks, draws when we should have won easily etc. However I thought Hull were one of the best teams I’ve seen at SMS this season, some very skilful players, well drilled and a willingness to commit to everything. Sometimes you have to say the better team on the night won. Being I old I can remember exactly what we needed last night (others have mentioned it)…the long ball over the top to a forward like we used to have, a Channon or a Lambert. I wonder if the reason people like Mara doesn’t do well with these is that that style of football isn’t part of the manager’s thinking, therefore it doesn’t get worked on enough…who knows? -
Other teams should be begging for a video of this game tonight. It was the exact template of how to play against us.

He must have been watching Che..

Having had such a success with this Sunderland reject, the gossip column on the Beeb is suggesting that we are interested in another one, Jack Clarke for the princely sum of £20mill… ….mind you, everyone gets linked with everyone on there,

Any decent streams?

If we really are that dependent on a single player then quite honestly we don't deserve to do well.
-
I’m enjoying it too because we have a team that makes it enjoyable. We have that team because atm we have the money to keep the team together. Whether that team would still be here if we don’t go up is open to debate. Whether you would enjoy watching what’s left after all the players with any talent or ambition have left is the point I was trying to make and, whether you like it or not, any club needs money….a lot of money.
-
Just seen the goals, nothing complicated or inventive about them, just goals that we shouldn’t be letting happen. Also just reinforces my opinion of Manning, sh 1 te.

If we don’t go up I think next year’s team will look a lot different to this year, I think it’s generally accepted that this year’s set up is unsustainable for another season in the Championship….so next year instead of watching high flying Saints you’ll be watching a version of Stoke or some such. Here’s another reason…to win the FA cup the prize this season is £2,000,000. According to Deloittes promotion from the Championship to the Premier league is worth between £135,000,000 to £210,000,000 to the club. You do the maths…
