Have a look at this video and for arguments sake lets assume what they are saying is true, would you still disagree with a Tobin Tax? -

How would it increase public spending from todays levels? The jobs program would be paid for from the tobin tax, you cannot create growth when you cut to the bone, look at Eire -

Oh yeah, really glad the bankers ****ed up millions of lives just so you could be proved right about Labour's so called profligacy. I only have 3 posts so i will put forward my solution to the current crisis, 1. Nationalise all banks without compensation ( The ones in the Private sector can be returned there when the crisis is over ) The banking system cannot be trusted at this moment to run it’s affairs properly, and when it returns to it’s normal state it will be highly regulated. 2. Implement a Tobin tax of 0.5% of every banking transaction to raise money for a public works program to bring unemployment down and thus facilitate growth in the economy 3. Bond holders to wait for their money until after said crisis to stop the spread of panic in countries such as Portugal, Spain and Belgium, because after these countries they will search for more taxpayers money with which to enrich themselves 4. Cut by at least half the income including expenses of MEP’s.They get too much, simples Just a few ideas, not sure Dune will agree though :-/ -
Is that programme on the ultra left BBC? Oh yeah so it is
-
Look the only reason these derechistas think the BBC is biased is because it is not biased towards the right wing, eg. The Sun, Sky News, Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, Daily Express etc, they are so used to reading or watching this ****e that when something like the BBC comes along they can't compute that it's not spewing out a vile and phobic right wing bias.

Don't take this gimp seriously, it only gives him the platform to spout more ****e. He doesn't believe half of what he says, he just says it to get a rise. -
I use the iplayer over here in Spain using a certain type of software which is free,it's a godsend because Spanish tv is terrible. If you privatise it, it will be a crock of ****e, i do agree with streamlining it and cutting out all the dross like come dancing etc

He was part of the New Labour government and therefore not a socialist. HTH

So what do we do about it then? As i said before Capitalism in this country doesn't work because the employers cannot afford to pay enough for people to live on,The big bad State has to pay from taxation, benefits like income support to people just so they can live. I agree with tax incentives for investment in businesses but don't you think that some employers use the excuse that they can't afford to pay more knowing the government will pick up the pieces? Whether the employer gets the money in his hand or not it is still a subsidy, can you not see that? If the government didn't have to shell out on so much income support because of low wages the money could be spent elsewhere
-
So what you are telling me is that Capitalism in Britain doesn't work if the state has to stump up the rest of a persons income, Lets see if we can come up with an alternative system, lets have everyones ideas be they right wing, left wing or whatever, because its obvious the system is broke.

Correct me if i'm wrong but you are in Chichester aren't you? It's not really on a par with Gateshead or Liverpool when it comes to unemployment is it? That said why are the job centre not sending people to you? It sounds perfect, training given, no previous experience necessary, What is the wage out of interest? If its that good i might come back to work during the week as well ;-)

Thats because of measures put in place by the previous government, are you a bit simple? None of Gideon's measures have had a chance to take effect yet, just wait and see when they do :-0 -

All that tells you is that they are maximising their leverage, nothing else, If you are in dispute with someone you use whatever is at your disposal to to win said dispute. -

Well said, The only difference between the major parties is the manner in which they manage the Right wing Neoliberal agenda. -
