  1. I wouldn't be against it but, understandably, we could never satisfy his salary demands with the PL contract he's on. The only slim chance would be if he wants to play regularly at his age (injuries allowing) and accepts reduced wages but guaranteed generous bonuses with goals scored and additionally with promotion.
  2. 'Roxy Saints Do The Strand' could be seen adorning many a subway around Southampton back in the day.
  3. Did he mention who was in the frame?
  4. I feel pretty relaxed about it all, must be an age thingy, and reckon we're in a pretty good place right now. We weren't getting players in before others were sold, it's no secret we're trying to trim a bloated squad. If some of the sales going out fell through and had already brought in new faces we could have ended up with an even more bloated squad and some big earners still around and in a bit of financial schtuk. If no-one new in a couple of weeks then I might raise an eyebrow.
  5. I'm old, been up for hours...I'm on my third Milk Stout already 🍺
  6. Well let's hope so as there's a good song waiting for him (or anyone else we may sign who's name ends in 'o' ...Aribo need not apply ) There was something in the air that night The red and white, Joël Piroe They were singing there for you and me For victory, Joël Piroe ...and repeat
  7. Tbf, I don’t think they are. Just had a scroll back through out of all the posts I counted 2 saying we’ll win, 2 for a draw and 4 saying lose. Tough one to call tbh.
  8. Noticed this when I went on for QPR tickets, not seen it before, but could be handy to know if you book in larger numbers for group discounts https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/group-tickets On a side note, a question was raised in a 'fans advisory panel' meeting that followed the forum last night and it was mentioned that Block 1 could be used for safe-standing. That would be a fairly small area so I guess that would be bolted onto making the entire Northam rail seating?
  9. Looks like still work-in-progress. Noticed as we walked past the Kingsland on Saturday that most of the steelwork is still dirty, working their way round from the Northam. Some of our fans seem to like cramming too many syllables into chants that require less. There was talks to introduce rail-seating into St Mary's this summer, relegation probably scuppered that but if the Chapel continues to gain popularity maybe that end could see the return of standing.
  10. We chucked in our STs a couple of years back and now pay-as-you-go, usually Kingsland North but went to that corner of the Chapel as £20 seats, surprised to see so many old faces there. I think this is going to prove a popular option at this price and the atmosphere will continue to improve as a consequence.
  11. We were sat in the Itchen Chapel corner Saturday not far from that section and it was a decent effort, as you say, kept it up for most of the game (even if a few had to keep chucking in reference to the skates on most chants 👎). You can see the Itchen North getting animated but can’t really hear them from there and although Norwich only had a third or so of the Northam they came across far louder than the home fans in that stand - I guess as they were directly in front of us at the other end? Decent effort though, mostly just towards the end of the game.
  12. They did give us one lower level section after we sold out the top tier last time we were in this division, quite heavily policed though!
  13. No doubt old enough to be your dad you soppy fuckwit. It was never "belted out" at the Dell, just a very small bunch of 14 year old dinlos trying to act all aggressive and then singing about growing strawberries. What the fuck was that all about
  14. This is why a lot of opposition fans just point and laugh at our 'support'.
  15. And this is why I'm kind of glad our fans don't sing much, anyone uttering weird stuff like this deserve to be held upside down in a vat of warm marmalade and have their testicles removed with a blunt instrument. And die "howwibly, howwibly".
  16. If this is true then you have to tip your hat to Brighton for holding out for what they value the player at. Poch should jump straight in now and pick up an equally top player for half that amount but will be worth £100m within a couple of years. Figures like this and they're quibbling over 2 or 3m £s.
  17. There was only a couple of hundred tickets left earlier but Norwich have now returned Block 43 so a few more up for grabs - looking like a full house. https://tickets.southamptonfc.com/selection/event/seat?perfId=10228529227812&ot=0&gtmStepTracking=true&_ga=2.1807994
  18. I’ve got a sneaky feeling JWP had his winning send off on Friday night, not ITK, at my age I’m more Circle of Rust than C.O.T. Got a feeling (particularly after last night) a compromise will be made with WHU in next few hours. Still looking forward to getting back inside St Mary’s on Saturday, expecting a good contest - hopefully they don’t get any corners or free kicks around our box, too much to ask?
  19. They're luring us into a trap, I tell ya...hopefully more Newport away than Grimsby at home.
  20. I think spurs are just sniffing a potential bargain with West Ham (possibly pretending) to lose interest. They may believe we could panic and let him leave for a lower figure now rather than missing out on a sale. Hopefully the club and JWP are all perfectly happy to stay together if no sale materialises. I've seen reservations mentioned about his age but anyone signing a 28 year old JWP is the equivalent of signing an 25 year old, but with more experience. With his fitness levels and almost injury-free career, he could play at the top level to well into his thirties.
  21. They're not that daft. They got a brand new stadium for free that we all paid for, held out...and held out...until they rinsed Arsenal of over £100m for one of their players (he's very good, mind) and one of their players won us the World Cup once, don't you know. And Prowsey could very well be one of those players that just keeps going and going with his dedication and fitness, certainly to well into his 30s if he wants it.
  22. That's how to see out 9mins of added time
  23. The top tier holds over 4,000 but new safety restrictions mean they're only allowed to sell 2,400 so plenty of empty seats above. Still over 3,000 up there, great turnout. Very good performance, that's a Tella goal for me, hopefully wants to hang around. To wind up Burnley maybe we could get a little Specials chant going "Freeee-eeeeee, free Nathan Tella"
  24. I did wonder the significance of the time showing on the Civic, that explains it! Hopefully it's not trying to get back into the game. From the moment they start playing 'Hi-Ho' over the PA the crowd will be pumped up, new season, newly promoted, chance to turn over the fancy-dans down from the PL. First 10-15 minutes will be crucial, if we concede early could be a long night - I'd like to think we'd get at them quick but can only see us ponderously trying to control the ball around our box early on with the inevitable occurring. Happy to be very wide of the mark!
  25. The long trip back was no fun, as shit as coming back midweek from Derby in the play-offs. Hope so, everyone standing probably helps. By 10pm Friday night we could be top of the league, joint top or.........bottom.
