  1. Good that we will be active in the summer but I’m gonna suggest that almost all business (for most clubs) won’t be concluded until the last few days of the transfer window.
  2. FFS, even if he wasn’t aware of PL standards (which would be really unbelievable) he also had a number of players in his squad that had already played at that level that should have enlightened him. And he still hadn’t come to terms with it by December.
  3. I wonder when was the last time he ever had to pay for a ticket to watch this football club.
  4. I can certainly understand that if they feel there's a good chance they may yet comeback from these injuries. They're making no difference to our season now but if they go injury free until the end of this season (and recapture previous form) then they'll be real assets in the Championship next year* *I'm trying to be really optimistic here in the unlikely event they don't break down again
  5. If you want to see the current Wed fans’ take on all this click the links. Two separate threads about it on that forum, a few quotes like this for some questioning their recent form “I agree the recent results have been poor but I would say we are playing our best football and creating more chances than we have all season . I think maybe people are confusing a lack of quality with lack of motivation” https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/337415-danny-röhl-walked/ https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/336967-röhl-to-southampton-dont-hate-me-lol/page/23/#comments
  6. I'm OK with the prospect of Rohl coming in, I've read of a few reservations amongst fans concerned that Wednesday's recent form is sketchy but for a club of their size player quality is limited. And could any drop in form have coincided with the constant rumours about him coming here? Things like this must affect morale, but despite the links he still appears to be liked and respected up there. It's happened before.
  7. Built on an old farmer’s field, the original Cabbage Patch Dolls. That not a bad nickname for ‘em tbh……
  8. I agree, Dragan Solak is not the problem here, far from it. I think it was said that he wasn’t a big football man when he came in, he put his trust in others that he was convinced by. And to be fair, last season, despite flaws, was a successful one, so he had to give them the opportunity in the PL. But once he seen what’s happening he’s acted. In the relatively short time Solak’s been more hands on he’s moved people out, brought in Spors and a new manager. Juric hasn’t worked out but he has started addressing the issues. Who knows what will happen back in the Championship, we’ll likely have a new, unrecognisable team, and probably manager, but I’m happy DS is the right man at the helm.
  9. When we do play them they'll still be shit but they will have Jamie...fookin...Vardy and we all know what happens then.
  10. I honestly don't know of any fan that really believed we'd stay up this season, none of my mates anyway. Plenty of us on here were saying if RM stuck to his possession malarkey we'd probably be down with the Christmas decorations.
  11. Player of the Season can go ahead but limit votes to just the two players - Mateus Fernandes and Aaron Ramsdale.
  12. It’s understandable that fitness levels are being questioned, the requirements of the PL are certainly on another level. Other sides just look, sharper, stronger and a yard quicker. It’s also evident that when you’re on a winning streak everyone wants the ball, when you’re losing every week players go missing. Ridiculous for ‘professional’ footballers but how it is.
  13. Coming to a town near you soon…
  14. He's pretty scathing of Ipswich too - although, of course, even they ain't quite as abject as our sorry shower of shit. https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/ipswich-town-quietly-getting-away-appalling-season-3551123 I see the first date we can get relegated if all the stars align is, very appropriately, April the first...
  15. Ah, when I heard he was linked I thought it was probably likely, just seems a good fit (and ex-Rangers). Yep, as good a job as he could expect to get if it eventually happens.
  16. Great job for him if it's confirmed. I think he'll do well as long as he does something that he's not really done so far in his managerial career, and that's not concede 60+ goals each season (even in a successful one). Wonder if he's still insistent on not deviating from his possession-obsession.
  17. Gardening leave for Juric, Rusk for the rest of the season. He at least ground a semblance of heart from this bunch of lightweights in his one game. I'm reluctant to say 'it couldn't get any worse...'
  18. FFS, we're this fookin shit because we never got rid sooner, we were already cooked long before Juric rolled up.
  19. A classic Saints fan thing there, cramming a word with too many syllables into a chant. Quick look on their forum, understandably most predicting an away win, the popular predictions have them scoring between 3 and 5. Probably not a lot different to what ours are expecting but I'm going for an unlikely point apiece. Crazy, I know.
  20. So do I. Just couldn’t see us getting anything against Bournemouth who are a very decent side, but this seems more doable. Probably a point each.
  21. Impossible with the players we can put out on a PL pitch. More confident it could make a difference next season tho.
  22. Seems a bit odd lumping in athose clubs anyway, just because they’re a long way down the same coastline (we’re closer to Birmingham than we are Plymouth). I wouldn’t think the Geordies, Mackems or Smoggies bring Norwich or Ipswich into arguments just because they’re on the east coast.
  23. It's always been the same. When we rolled up at Southampton Central in 2005 and saw the mob that was waiting outside, a lot of the old Warrens fellas were out in force, we said there's no way this train is leaving on time. True enough, we kept getting told there was this problem at that why the the decrepit old rattler was delayed, you knew it was bullshit. The game wasn't far from kicking off when we finally pulled out and when we got there we were greeted by what looked like an army of Robocops who did a slow stop-start march down to the ground with a few toothless skates giving it the big one from windows along the way.. By the time we got in we were already 3-0 down. A day best forgotten - done most of them since the 70s, missed the league cup win in 2019, but was there in 1984.
  24. The Daily Echo certainly missed out on a catchy headline there… “FLYNN DOWNES TOOLS” …amateurs
  25. Probably won't happen again but this time I agree with the condescending club stooge - that was a shit reaction to Smallbone being substituted. Like most of this team, he ain't good enough for this level but doesn't deserve to be scapegoated. I like to think it was more a convenient conduit at the time to channel the fans frustrations on the day and for this wretched season. It's about as angsty as our crowd get these days.
