  1. Yes, I like Badger’s range, although not all of their pubs keep their beers as well as they should to get the full flavour profile. Master Stoat I’d love to try on draft but only ever seen it in the bottle. It’s also available in Aldi under the label ‘Coffee Stout’. Coming into the time of year when the plum and blackberry notes of their stronger Cranborne Poacher really hit the mark.
  2. Yes, as it can help place people to times and events, as well as hint at any motive. It’s not just law enforcement at the more extreme end of things, and the content posted by Lucy Connolly was vile, inflammatory and unacceptable at any time, on an everyday level it’s also used by employers when recruiting and selecting. I was told many years ago that nothing on SM is ever truly deleted.
  3. It’s appalling. Not sure what part of the country you are in but I’m guessing it’s not an urban farm in say Peckham. Knife crime was still higher before the pandemic, but escalating back towards that 2019 peak. https://aoav.org.uk/2024/knife-crime-on-the-rise-in-the-uk-analysing-the-data-and-exploring-solutions/#:~:text=According to the latest figures, increase in robberies involving knives.
  4. Not the first time by Leicester either, got promoted in 2002/3 I think it was when still in administration. Remember it caused a stink with the other sides contending at that level.
  5. Looked like mistaken identity to me. Could get overturned unless there’s a further section not visible.
  6. The point is that the messenger isn’t particularly honest either. If it’d come from someone like Tim Montgomerie, a Conservative pundit I respect, I’d take it more seriously. Addressing Neil’s opinion, there is much truth that Miliband is claiming credit for others’ work in the previous government, and I don’t like that. David could tell you all about his brother’s ethics. However, I don’t agree with the last bit that it’s a zero sum game that we shouldn’t be getting the renewables market going again and the fact it has been that must mean that the winter fuel allowance shouldn’t be means tested given the very challenging economic picture. Summary - Ed M is a grifting pillock, Neill is a climate dinosaur with a questionable past. Braverman and Hunt hiding over £6bn of spending on asylum and Rwanda (today’s tragedy is another reason that’s a boiling hot priority) has not helped with the winter fuel decision. That said, the extra military aid Sunak committed to Ukraine is worth every single penny because stopping Putin and pushing him back as it’s turned out, is imperative to social and economic stability. People will point to the rail and health deals but the productivity cost, especially hospitality, was killing us and the NHS is in an awful position on waiting lists, further hindering economic activity. https://www.theguardian.com/business/nils-pratley-on-finance/article/2024/sep/03/nice-auction-but-ed-miliband-is-still-a-long-way-from-his-2030-targets-for-offshore-wind
  7. Spot on. There is definite potential with Martin - good communicator and seemingly people manager, and has a habit of improving players individually. Where it’s falling down at times is this whole ‘philosophy’ fake stuff. Just select your team, recruit and take your approach according to the opposition, your league position, strengths/weaknesses and budget. Reminds of when Fergie asked ‘can anyone tell me what the West Ham way actually means?’
  8. Whilst I’m not a fan of Ed Miliband’s at all, I’m even less of a fan of Andrew Neill. Neill is voluable on some issues and quiet as a church mouse on others. Especially when it involves colleagues/friends. Personally, I’d be keeping better company as that wiki link is horrific. https://www.private-eye.co.uk/street-of-shame https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taki_Theodoracopulos
  9. Amazing that he’s hasn’t learned from the French election, it was only a few weeks ago.
  10. Someone who is getting banged up for a couple of years https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles If her Tory councillor husband ditches her, you might have a lot in common with her politically if you wait around.
  11. I know, let’s tether ourselves to someone intelligent, knowledgeable and factual instead. And coherent. Definitely coherent. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-66928305 https://www.rechargenews.com/wind/so-crazy-donald-trump-warns-wind-power-could-take-tv-off-air-in-new-anti-green-rant/2-1-1557566?zephr_sso_ott=5HlzLD
  12. Nor people, or how to communicate with them. But that’s partly what happens when a lonely old man immerses himself in a bubble of Daily Telegraph and Heritage Foundation clickbait.
  13. Saw them at Earls Court indoor 1995 and Finsbury Park early 00s, replete with Man City fans trying to snort cocaine on a windy day so it went everywhere, and a woman giving a bloke in the crowd (he confirmed they’d never met) a blow job. Oh, and what looked like a 11 year old kid smoking and drinking
  14. All of those things are true, and the Dutch league may help him stand out as the Danish did and I was surprised Celtic weren’t interested. He did OK last season but 25 appearances (with the serious hamstring injury), three assists and no goals, he’d have been looking for more. A £22m player at Champ level should be like a cheat code. He’d do OK in the PL but Fraser is a more reliable option with greater experience and a fit Cornet is significantly superior. He’s a £10-15m player in the current market, someone with more football experience with Rasmus (not difficult admittedly as that’s practically everyone on here) wouldn’t have paid £22m.
  15. Shoulder again wasn’t it?
  16. Interesting research paper about the links between Right Wing Authoritarianism and Trump’s core base. In particular, it found that ‘High RWA Trump voters are also more likely to entertain unsupported conspiracy theories’ https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/reports/monmouthpoll_authpanel_011921/
  17. No wonder the husband turned up to the hearings with a face mask on. I don’t think it was just the Covid concern….
  18. Quite, the only traitor on here is supporting Trump when my grandfathers - and his going by the D Day threads - fought facism and totalitarianism and he wants it to make a return. Imagine shitting on your grandparents sacrifices. That’s truly a traitor.
  19. Quite. Just a cheap pop at a working class woman who had children young and has made a success of herself.
  20. Agree with that word for word, including the last sentence
  21. Also https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/oct/09/trump-syria-kurds-normandy and https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/oct/25/trump-kurds-syria-adam-kinzinger-book and https://edition.cnn.com/2019/10/07/middleeast/trump-kurdish-syria-turkey-intl/index.html
  22. This is the thing. I don’t think many posters are calling for Martin’s head right now but they are seeing points squandered - we should be sitting on 2 or 3 so far - by insane slow passing around the three centre backs for the sake of it. If that changes, the play is varied, full backs spread a bit, strikers go more centrally and points are still impossible to come by then player recruitment comes under more scrutiny, but if the pattern of play doesn’t change and the new signings in midfield aren’t prioritised alongside Downes, he will be gone very soon. Relegation wouldn’t and shouldn’t come as a surprise but the very least we can expect is for them to have a go eg Luton, Blackpool when they came up.
  23. I’m fairly certain Bertrand played at times in that role for Ronald in his second season and earlier in Ralph’s against some of the top sides.
  24. It was very poor but you weren’t old enough from the sounds of it to remember the Branfoot years.
  25. If he can, great. Not sure how many games he will be able to start not training everyday but agree he looked a cut above in the Cardiff and Brentford games.
