The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Gloucester Saint replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
The mood music 🎵 seems to be that Simon Case is the aggrieved party re Sue Gray salary and leaking - put up or shut up I suspect. Boris appointment so could be the most politically expedient to depart if it comes to it. -

He could have been empathetic on Bates’s correspondence, will say that, and challenged Vennells more, but Swinson and Paul Scully should have done more as there was more evidence coming to light from PO and Fujitsu failings by the mid-10s. At lot of the reveals were also down to good determined journalism by the likes of Nick Wallis. -

If Trump wins in November, bully boy will be back. Only poster on ignore so hopefully next time he starts a Tommy Robinson appreciation thread or makes threats against another poster, people won’t quote him in their responses. I don’t know if blocking mentions covers that off? -

If they get the NHS waiting lists down, GP access better, trains running consistently, and economy visibly stable/debt under control then this is chicken feed. I think Starmer has to get rid of the leakers and whiners on Gray though, they’re running straight to Chris Mason et al and the public don’t reward parties who are constantly fighting having had a decade of it. -

Only really the Lib Dem’s are relatively clean at the moment - Labour not helping their cause with the freebies, Tory candidates saying weird things about working in McDs equating to being working class and English identity whilst the lead runner is mired in huge corruption, and Farage doesn’t turn up to half of the Parliamentary votes and incredibly still doesn’t have a constituency office set up. I’m sure the Lib Dem’s are capable of self-destructing too. And people wonder why there’s apathy. Starmer needs the sack the staff whining and leaking about the Sue Graham salary. The country had years of that with what came before them, so far they’ve not been too bad with getting on with governing but critical early tests coming up now. -
Good manager but WBA have a good chance of going up this year and he could win automatic promotion with his own squad.
-
Inclined to agree. That country (USA) has gone so far down the rabbit hole though that it’s hard to see it getting back some equilibrium for the foreseeable.

Sad news, a key part of the matchday experience early 1980s onwards for me and our family. Remember Bob’s articles well.

No more responses to GM wind posts, and GM wind up threads. On ignore and carry on enjoying the forum. -

It did me too. There’s over-60s boxing circuits in parts of the country, a colleague is in one. Maybe GM should take his aggression out there? -

You’re right, that’s what I will do. Mirrors what society and forums are like now since Brexit and Covid, and not just football. The Devon Next Door app we used to be on my family won’t use now as it’s full of polarised trolling. Sad, as it started off about missing pets, helping families in need and local SMEs and trades offering services like it should be. The one here hasn’t gone that way yet but starting to…. -

Wouldn’t say I was a Davey fanboy but does partly explain why I vote Lib Dem. -

From GM’s perspective it seems. From mine, as never lived in Burseldon, I’m fed up with the constant trolling in the Lounge, playing the poster not the post and given him a bit back. I’m far from the first to mention Burseldon but it shows him for what it is. Plenty get fed up with some of Soggy’s posting but this is miles beyond him, with the exception of the dreadful Edwards post. But it still wasn’t offering other posters out basically. Risible from a grandad. Seems to think he’s ex-657 Crew or something. Just came across as sad and lonely, but why not ask for people’s company in a pleasant way? Probably gets a better response. -

You’re pathetic - crying like a baby because I called you out for your behaviour in Lowford and the same temper tantrums there when you couldn’t get your own way. Plenty of other people who wouldn’t want a ‘chat’ with you as well and would switch pubs to avoid you https://www.change.org/p/bursledon-district-community-association-the-residence-of-bursledon-parish-request-that-the-chairman-of-the-bdca-stand-down/c And the auditor found you didn’t need CRB checks in the end either https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/en/charity-search?p_p_id=uk_gov_ccew_onereg_charitydetails_web_portlet_CharityDetailsPortlet&p_p_lifecycle=2&p_p_state=maximized&p_p_mode=view&p_p_resource_id=%2Faccounts-resource&p_p_cacheability=cacheLevelPage&_uk_gov_ccew_onereg_charitydetails_web_portlet_CharityDetailsPortlet_objectiveId=A8878101&_uk_gov_ccew_onereg_charitydetails_web_portlet_CharityDetailsPortlet_priv_r_p_mvcRenderCommandName=%2Ffull-print&_uk_gov_ccew_onereg_charitydetails_web_portlet_CharityDetailsPortlet_priv_r_p_organisationNumber=5032178 You’ve started abusive thread after abusive thread 🧵 to wind people on this forum up. Said that anti-Brexit people should be hung up with piano wire (delicious irony with yesterday😄), blamed the Grenfell disaster totally erroneously and in dreadful taste. If I am there in the Cotswolds, you’ll find I’m three decades younger, faster, stronger, fitter. I won’t hear a peep from you. On your pop about Saints, supporter for four decades, first game under Lawrie, STH through 00s, bulk of away games, and still attended from Devon regularly 2010s until about 2017. Takes a bit more planning and dedication to get to games these days regularly than hopping on a bus from Bursledon but then what would you know about being an exile. -
Which game did you go to? Never had Tennants Light and probably not had the brand overall since the 90s (shirt sponsor for Rangers IIRC at the time). Better for the waistline by the looks https://untappd.com/b/tennent-s-caledonian-brewery-tennent-s-light/3667240

The manager got the selection and tactics right today. Small detail around protecting the D for their goal but what’s been costly, as it was for Ralph onwards, is the dreadful striker recruitment. With Cornet able to play up front, we didn’t need BBD and Archer, especially when we don’t play the former through the middle. More effective to get a £25-30m striker who has a bit of the power, hold up and composure required.
-
Hop Shed Redcap today. Lives up to it’s name, very malty nose, burnt toffee and mellow red apples on palate, sweetness but moderate and lingering bitterness on the finish.
-
Which again comes down to recruitment. Especially strikers - two relegations it will be now caused by that to a large extent.
-
Corrected for you
-
That’s on the strikers, so many chances squandered.

Two of them with George Hirst, son of David, ex-Saint. Strong smell of ammonia all of a sudden.
