Their Ukraine behaviour makes the international headlines but it’s DOGE that it is doing the domestic damage https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/senate-republicans-concerns-doge-meeting-white-house-rcna193914 Congressman Thomas Massie has some backbone and can see it is not going to be beneficial, but more of the GOP jellyfish need to turn at the Seante level, Congress was too weak https://www.yahoo.com/news/nkys-thomas-massie-stands-alone-165513220.html Especially as their national deficit will sharply increase https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/doge/doge-trumps-agenda-calls-adding-trillions-dollars-us-debt-rcna191665

Adam Boulton calls it right

Planted by Vance which gave him the chance to follow on with his attack. Vance is a such a weak little maggot. He’s ridden on Trump’s coattails, having previously called him America’s Hitler, no chance he would ever be elected for the main role. Hides behind Trump and Project 2025, but thinks he is the architect. Bannon might have something to say about that and it’s why it’s far from automatic that he gets nominated in 2028.

Or it was for Russian state TV to soften Putin up before the next talks, and then break the Russian position down further without Putin losing loads of face, because he is holding on at home. He wants to keep Putin in place to keep China guessing but not too strongly that it causes Vlad to eye up Europe. I hate Putin and would rather he didn’t exist but what followed what might more lethal still. Vance nearly blew that I reckon, Trump’s voice and facial expression towards JD were two different things at times.

The one thing about this regime is that it is unpredictable but I think they are also trying to reel Putin and Russia in a bit as well. I don’t excuse it at all, America would have wagged it’s finger if the UK had behaved like that to a Global South leader like that in the past, but this is a President who rebuilt his career from bankruptcy through Mark Burnett’s TV programme. He knows how to work the cameras and that just felt staged. He also takes Nixon’s Mad Man theory to an extreme.

Don’t get me wrong, the optics were horrific, but I’ve a gut feeling it was a bit confected. Trump knows Putin doesn’t like losing face, so he wouldn’t do it in public to him, but behind the scenes there might be less filter.

Element of Punch & Judy there but it didn’t reflect well on America as a spectacle on the face of it. I’m very cynical though and I wonder if some of that was deliberate to soften up Putin so Trump catches him with a sidewinder at the next talks? Engineer a public argument, Putin gets more comfortable, whack. Maybe even tipped off Starmer about what they had planned? Trump already breached Putin’s red line about European troops on the ground being saying it was alright by them the other day.

He should never have joined Leicester with the rivalry, was never going to get any time/patience and they’ve been a lot worse under RVN.
-
The only brace he’ll get at Anfield is on his teeth.

I’d re-set his sat nav for the East Midlands and get Steve Cooper. We need tried and tested. I like Rohl if SR will pay up, but Cooper won’t be fazed by the scale of the task by what he did at Forest.

I’m somewhere inbetween yours and Pampelmousse’s posts. Dragan has made some serious changes at SR board level, I didn’t realise Kraft had been jettisoned not only from SFC but SR as well, Spors has come in, new SR board members aligned to Dragan. Hopefully Rasmus has been told to focus on Goztepe operationally. Where they need to go further still is bringing in a good, proven UK football CEO who can run things day to day and provide close counsel to the new manager. And that’s not Mark Bitcon. Even if SR make a rare sensible decision and hire Steve Cooper, they still need that. A firm hand might have steered/dragged Russell Martin away from the rocks with a first warning after the Brentford game so that the later debacles didn’t happen eg adapt your style again or the board will act very swiftly in the interests of the club. Not sure where Darren Mowbray will fit into the equation. Also, the club ought to be more able to recruit right across the spine of the team with strong, quick athletes before having to make multiple large sales first than it was in 2023 after the January spunk up the wall.

The only non-top flight Saints RB who comes close for defensive shittiness is Jon Otsemobor. Both good going forward, but defensively shocking. The only hope is that the next manager, if he doesn’t sell him, actually uses him as a winger. He can put in a peach of a cross and can shoot as well.

Turkish had it right I reckon, Nutty Nic = Dune. Wouldn’t be surprised if him and GM are drinking Vodka in the same bus shelter in Bursledon. Not sure what time Tesco opens to serve but I’m sure GM has a ready supply.
-
Sugawara is going to replace Steve Baker in my worst ever SFC’s top flight XI I think. Smallbone has CM sorted as well, Downes on the bench.
-
Or score an OG. Astonishing that Leicester ran rings around Vest in the 0-9, then decided to refund Saints the £17m Mr Senile paid for him from Bremen. The same Leicester manager.

One of his posts immediately after the Grenfell Tower fire was horrific as well. Genuinely vile as well as wholly inaccurate (that hardly needing adding). Other people have posted out of order stuff on the main board after Saints have lost badly and then apologised, but this was fully intentional. And the reason we know that is that actually he tried to defend the original post last year as well, bumping the thread himself IIRC. The reason he doesn’t feel that he fits in at SMS (as per his flouncing off post) any longer is probably becuase he bores people about politics all game around him, when it’s one of the things you go to the football to escape.
-
Quite, and now they are America’s problem. Their cost and headache, let them stay there. All of the women that voted for Trump, you won’t be gaining any of the extra dollars in the household budget that you thought you were getting but you’ve gained a couple of violent ex-British sex offenders instead. Tough luck.
-
The Livramento deal was the worst thing the club ever did. How one single transfer becomes both a strategy and metaphor for a well-established club’s existence makes the mind boggle about the sheer football inexperience and ignorance of Semmens, Rasmus, Kraft et al.
-
Clearly did fall out with Dragan. Makes things potentially easier for Spors (look MLG) without a potential Kraft/Ankerson roadblock to key decisions.
-
Or grow, like spores of mould.
-
All the UK papers said it, but they do frequently get things wrong.
-
Spors, it’s an incorrect spelling, it’s not as if I called him Harry Redknapp by mistake is it? I spelt it wrong but that’s his name.. Believe or not, I have bigger priorities than the exact spelling of an SR employee…

Rasmus had a face like a smacked arse when he was sat next to Spores at SMS. It felt like he’d been told he has to do some of the ‘boring’ everyday work at Goztepe. No more swotty Phil Giles to do it all like at Brentford.
