Also surprised no one has mentioned Chambers. Wolud not put him in front of Ward.Prwose, Reeves, Sincliar, Stephens or Shaw but has impressed me in the games I have seen him play
-
and surprise surprise - looks who it is that's raising the profile on twitter!! Will these people NEVER learn when to keep a low profile?

Pulis has now played four games for the shots and is undefeated. Ok he has not scored yet but that's not what he is there for. No yellow. No reds. I just wish that people would realise that this is partly due to our amazing backroom staff and modern training facilities that has helped to give 'our Tony' the confidence and inspiration to reach a new level. Left but no forgotten -good on yer mate.

Sounds like Wittingham and Miller had great games. Lets get behind the lads for a return to winnnig ways (hopefull) on saturday. Sounds to me like teams have started to suss us out (plan A and plan B) so we need a new system to overcome that. I'm sure NA will have that in mind. i do like the way that he sticking to the basics though - keep possession and be patient. Trouble is we are now being too patient and finding ourselves running out of time when we are on the ascendency.

A bit like Adel Taarabt without the temper tantrums
Mowgli replied to Dynamo Naive's topic in The Saints
I've finally seen the highlights from Saturday and have to say that a draw was a decent result for us given the chances both sides had. I think Lallana was going for just inside the post so the miss is nowhere near as bad as people make out. Had he hit it centrally it would have been an easy save. Just look at his other goals and see how he puts them well out of the reach of the keeper. Of course Burnley winning 5-1 last night puts our result more in perspective and over the length of the season we will probably see this asa point gained rather than 2 lost. Lallana for me is well capable of playing in a Man U or a Chelsea. In reality though I think he is enjoying his football here and sees no desire to risk that. -
In my experience butcher's dogs are overweight and lazy. Something to do with scraps being readily available. If he had to work for the scraps he would be stuffed. It obviously makes sense for a guy to be much fitter now he is not training every day! Shouldn't we be actually assessing his ability to play football and score goals??? Otherwsie I can think of several 'nice' ex-players we could sign!

By the way we talk about Cortese trying to obliterate the clubs history and I personally think that is wrong. I love reading about the history of the club and feel it is an important part of our lives. But to my knowledge, McMenemy kicked Terry Paine out and had a lot of old pictures removed from the Dell because he wanted the club to look forward. LOwe did the same and infamously replaced the cup final picture in the boardroom with a picture of a train. Crouch removed all memories of Lowe (a task that probably had the support of the vast amount of supporters) and Cortese - surprise, surprise - is doing something similar. Why? Because complacency comes from reflecting on the good times gone by. Passion comes from a vision of the future. Part of me wishes it was otherwise but that is the way of the world. Many of the Ex-Saints will always be remembered fondly by Saints supporters all over the world but it won't be long before your son or daughter says 'who was Matt Le Tiss Daddy?' What I'm trying to say is that it is the supporters who have the luxury of being nostalgic - the people charged with moving this club forward must focus on the future not the past.

It does appear that some people have an agenda to undermine the Chairman which seems strange given the success we have had under his watch. I think the point has been well made that Saints (or indeed any organisation) are unlikely to throw their weight behind a charity they have no control over - particularly when they operate one themselves! For the record the Ex Saints are just that so I don't personally believe anyone can prevent that name being used - it's used on the hospitality box after all and the charity commissioners accepted it as a name. Some comments have been made in the past (including me) about costs associated with ex-saints events. But they are a registered charity so I think we have to rely on the proper organisation (Charity Commissioners) to oversee that side of thing. Frankly, anything they can raise for charity - particularly if it a worthy charity such as 'help for heroes' - is to be commended. FWIW both ex saints and saints foundation are registered charities. In y. ending 31/3/09 ex saints declared an income of £20,411 and an expenditure of £8,842. The following year they declared an income of £3,625 and expenditure of £6,777. They are now below the threshold for accounts to be submitted. In y ending 30/6/10 Saints foundation declared an income of £724,815 and expenditure of £664,059 of which £649,499 went on charitable activities.

lol at you lot havin' a go at each other. MLT is a legend. Does not really deserve too much criticism. Cortese is runnig the club well and does not deserve criticism. A cheap tabloid tries to wind things up by putting two quotes close together in an article that were probably totally unconnected in the actual interview. You lot all ought to be ashamed of yourselves. The one decent article about Saints in years and you fight like yobs in a school playground (due respect to those who have tried to add sanity).
-
MLT sat just behind me at the Birmingham game. Happy to buy his own tickets but upset, I suspect that he keeps getting aggro for an unfortunate comment in the press a year or so back. Both MLT and LM have kept quiet recently so Cortese should do the same. Unfortunately it is not always possible when someone asks you a direct question in an interview. Free tickets to anyone is not a good thing because where do you draw the line? There will always be someone just the other side of the line who feels aggreived. The best way is for ANY SFC employee or fan to buy a tciket and give it to MLT or LM if they feel that strongly. Cortse I am sure will buy tickets for friends but why should he do it for people who openly criticise him. In summary they are both as bad as one another. I neither blame nor defend eithers actions. For Stelling to chip in is just plain unprofessional.

Is he the right sort of character to fit in here though? A bit of a fancy Dan. Maybe thinks he is better than he is (he is good but maybe not as good as he thinks he is...)
-
I'm a bit of a Bart fan and still think he will be our #1 in due course but watched him Wednesday and realised why KD is keeping him out. We are so lucky to have Kelvin Davis - we just take it for granted after a while and start to wonder if we can do better.
-
I can't be bothered to dig it out but it strikes me as an exact replication of what Wayne Bridge said when he left - especially the bit about " I hope to be able to play there again one day and show my appreciation" like its some sort of honour to have him back. Fair play to the lad - he did well for us and deserves a chance at Arsenal and I wish him well. But we've moved on and he is a miniscule part of our history soon to be forgotten.
-
If that is really how you felt, as opposed to be swayed by the general feedback, why not change the thread title to a less provocative one? I sense not many (any?) have any sympathy.
-
Damn. You just beat me to it. I was just about to make exactly the same point. I'm sure I read somewhere that the only club he would go to is Liverpool. And Kenny will be there for a long time yet.
-
I thought the stadium WAS a toilet? Probably the only reason "that will not happen with us.." is they are already preparing their exit strategy!
-
A lot of the empty seats were corporate and away fans. I seem to recall someone saying they would not cut price corporate seats as this can create a long term expectation of cut price deals. There is decent support from grass root fans.
-
Not a problem - he's only looking after that slot whilst Martin develops and he's not far off. Jaidi is also just a couple of weeks away and Seaborne will be back eventually.
-
Spot on. To be fair, I think NC did extend the olive branch to the Echo when he first arrived but they abused that trust and are paying the price for it. Sadly good news stories do not sell newspapers - negativity does. That aside, true journalism has been well and truly lost on the south coast. I don't believe the journos ever leave their desks now - they compile their articles from other web sites. As a result, I suspect the Echo will not exist in 2/3 years time. Their low work rate is far too transparent. As for the club, I think keeping quiet is the best strategy. However, I do hope in time they will bury the hatchet with MLT and Lawrie (who I have openly criticised in the past) as they are both legends and part of the fabric of this club.
-
I share your optimism Bart backing up Davis Dickson, Butterfield, Jaidi, Fox and Martin backing up the first choice four of Richardson, Fonte, Seaborne/Hooiveld and Harding Dickson, Fox, Chaplow, Schneiderlin Holmes De Ridder and Forte all adequate stand ins for the first choice Guly, Lallana, Cork and Hammond Guly, Forte, Barnard, De Ridder and maybe Lallana backing up Connolly and Lambert ...and that's without looking at the youngster banging on the door of the first team!
-
Each home win brings additional pressure to keep the record going. Who would you want to lose that record to? A biggish ex EPL team like Birmingham or a Doncaster type side. Personally I think we can keep going for now. The confidence is there, as is the fitness, as is the skill. Just not quite sure who it is that will shine from week to week. Last week it was Guly and Lambert. Other days it could be any from Lallana, Davis, Scheiderlin, Cork, Hammond, Fonte, Connolly. We really do have a good team. Assuming the back four are over their injuries, I will go for 3-1.

It was a friendly organised to give a few players a decent run out. That was why there were so many fringe players in - would not take too much notice of the U21 tag on this occassion. Good to see Murty becoming so attached to the club. He is definately a good influence around the place. don't think he is paid in any way though - he's just grateful to the club for helping him out as he tried to recovery from injury whilst out of contract. We did the same with Killer I recall.

Oh sh*t.....

No. I noticed it too. We were all over them and won a corner that the keeper petulently through away. There was some argy bargy that caused the ref to stop play and eventually book Connolly and the keeper. This was all gamesmanship from the keeper but it worked perfectly. The momentum was lost, the players eased off and the crowd went so quiet you could have heard a pin drop in the Northam. We let them back in the game and I was just about to comment on it when BAM - they scored!!
