Did we really chant 'Red Army' when he was introduced....????

You do set yourself up to be fair
-
You won't. It all ended when policemen changed their helmets
-
Neither do ours to be fair

He formed a formidable parternship whilst here with Fonte and there is nothing to suggest that would not have continued for quite a while. He got greedy. The rest is schadenfreude.

Nothing wrong at all. Same as there's nothing wrong having a different perspective

It's worth remembering that these guys were first recruited 10 years or so ago when we were at our lowest point in the league so a less attractive academy than before or since. It's a bit early to say these guys wont make it because they have already been sifted once or twice. They deserve to be where they are for the work they have put in to date. But I hear that in five years, we have a very strong batch coming through. Let's keep ou feet on the ground though. The benchmark is one academy player per year breaking through to the first team. With so many fans demnding big money signings it's not surprisingthat it's harder and harder for academy stars to break through.

After 4 games of the seaaon, we are hardly in a position to say we are slipping to relegation any more than we are pushing for a European place. I suspect it was proving quite difficult to get players to sign long contracts when the manager was refusing. He's not a bad manager but he had flaws (Academy, favourites) We have 5 more points than after our first 4 games back in the PL We would have done had we been able to keep Poch. But he felt loyalty to Cortese and there's not much we could do about it. Continuity is the key though so throwing the baby out with the bath water after just 4 games is probably not the wisest move Lets hope so (no offence intended)

Is this serious thread? Genuine question. I smiled at the first few contributions thinking it was a joke but it just went on a bit too long. Apologies if I'm missing some sort of inside joke.

Is it just me or does that look remarkably like Rupert....?

Jeez. Another bounced thread for a 'told you so' argument. Are schools back soon? Wanyama was a huge player for us (when he could be bothered) but a liability with constant yellow cards. Would have him back tomorrow. Interesting read back on the early views on Clasie who many wanted so badly to succeed and be even better than Big Vic but his style of play has not been great for us. Undoubtedly a considerable talent though.

Fair point. I thought we were unlikely to ever see a team as bad as Swansea when they came here but then they go and beat Palace away (also in transition). West Ham admittedly should have been easier than it was but Huddersfield are playing really well at the moment under a top rate manager and yet to concede a goal against anyone! Still carrying that swaggering confidence that comes with promotion.

I'm not sure whether people actually believe what they are writing or just expressing frustration at another goalless draw. However, I think its a bit early to compare MoPe with Claude just yet. He's clearly trying to change the way the team plays SLOWLY (his words) and the players are very positive about his approach. There are signs that we are moving in the right direction and a little patience from everyone won't do any harm. As a team in transition, an unbeaten start is not to be sniffed at. And keeping all out players is also not a bad thing.

Get Pelle back...
-
You will see him office based in the 'behind the scenes vid of Wesley Hoedt

There'a a really fit bird that gets the atmosphere going at Palace before games...

It was well used in the Northam - the majority seemed to like it. No problem from me at all (though I used it on the ground to cover a sticky patch of soda from last week). Did anyone see Kat talking to Ralph about it on MOTD. She seemed a bit confused as to how they work.... ;-)

Perhaps they are going to get Fonte to announce his own replacement as a curtain raiser to the game today. Just a thought.

Southampton owner tells Mauricio Pellegrino he has no extra funds (The Times)
Mowgli replied to GGalpin's topic in The Saints
I would have been more worried if they had told MoPe that there was lots of money available for him to spend. -
15/16 season his scoring record was fine and with assists he was very good. We then had a manager that believed in him and gave him a run in the team which is what he needs. What most strikers need.

Odd thing to say. Why would she be?

Getting used to it to be honest. Seems a lot more like it than not. Ironically a lot of those moaning will quite happily sing inane pompey songs... ...each to their own as they say

What about Paul Bennett? Never fear, triggers here...!!

Just before we see a record suspension.

Virgil van Dijk signs new six-year deal with Saints
Mowgli replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Not sure anyone really thought differently at the time. You just hope that one day you come across a world class player that stays with Saints a la Le Tiss. Sadly he is a one off. Though JWP is international class and shows loyalty and class in many ways on and off the pitch.
