Well said. I do worry that the forum is starting to read like a liverpool forum from last year. Challenging for the title (or at least top 4) with the 3rd best defence in the Europe and we still find something to complain about. Irene put it well too. Boruc's southampton days are behind him so who is the better keeper is largely irrelevant.

Arsenal Re convinced they have a good youth system having developed Walcott, chamberlain and chambers lol.

Morgan Schneiderlin rates him very highly too! We've missed his dead ball deliveries and free kicks on goal these last few weeeks. Will always be on the team sheet of 17 and will only get better over the next couple of years. Will probably be close to legend status by the Euros - just before he breaks our hearts and leaves for Arsenal!

JANUARY - Who will go, Who will stay and Who will arrive?
Mowgli replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
You don't sign anyone in January unless you are desparate because they will be overpriced. That said, I think the fees for Toby and Bertrand have already been agreed in principle so not a problem if we can tie those up. -
Of course. Pretty much every player on the world is on our radar now. But Koeman made a point of saying these were players that he wanted. The club's response was they knew about them and saw little risk in the signings.

Both are only 20 so there's about 4 or 5 years more work for them to develp as centre backs . It's good that Saints still talk about them as future first team players (Hunter, in particular) and they still consider themselves Saints players on loan. I suspect that the reason they have been loaned out together is to develop that understanding that they have with each others play. They've had good reviews at Swindon and I think generally people accept that they will make mistakes whilst they are learning. They are alot more exposed at the County Ground where, I believe, they operate a back 3. I'm hoping they make the grade rather than certain of it but the signs are good so far.

I think you'll find Forren was already a done deal before Poch took over. Paul Mitchell has talent undoubtedly but he had a great club to 'sell'. At the end of the day, Tadic, Mane and Pelle were actually pushed for by Ronald I beleive so not sure Paul had that much of an influence with the help of the black box. The analysis of potential targets by reference to family friends and lifestyle has actually been going on ever since Rupert Lowe's days. It's yet another panic acquisition by Spuds who are slowly drowning in their own effluent.

Given that 99% of readers remember the quote forgive me if I don't rise to the bait. If your memory is really that bad do the research yourself. I'm not going to do it for you. It's really easy o find BTW

Way off the mark. I don't think anyone would not knock his ambition. It was the how he did it. Saying he would be happy to spend the rest of his career here whilst picking up 5 awards and then just DAYS later 'flipping like a burger' when liverpool came knocking.

I think this rumour started from some journo merely suggesting that Isgrove is the sort of player Leeds should be targetting. Funny how these things suddenly become 'done deals'

He is a good manager but sadly believed the hype around him which was little premature. As others have said, he does not have the same players (or owners) at Spurs. Also intersting to note that Spurs fans are highlighting the same issues we did - 1 Lots of possession without making it count 2 Defensive errors 3 No plan B 4 Poor / badly timed substitutions 5 A tendancy to only use one full back as a wing back during a game (but switching depending on the game)

It could be come 16 December! He's served his time so should be allowed to live a normal life (although it would not kill him to show a little remorse!!!). Whether a club risks their own reputation by giving him a contract is another matter altogether and I think the Blades would be nuts to do it. Some of the songs currently being sung by the Piggy fans is disgusting as says as much about them as Ched. There is another angle on this which may come out if there is ever an appeal which could explain why his wife is standing by him so publicly. Then again it might be just her way of coping with the worst nightmare of her life.

I think Bertrand can have no real complaints about playing second fiddle to Shaw at England level but he deserves to be part of the squad. The philosophy of being hard to drop once you are in is a bit extreme but in reality I think he looking for an element of consistency so they underastnad one another more. If you pick players purely on form then you end up with a very different team every time and they wil llook like a team that has not played together very long. poor results will follow. Personally, I think the ide of picking units from teams is not a bad compromise. A defence that plays together week in week out will have significant advantages but how often do you see units of all England players at club level?

Will clyne get a a start/cap in the next couple of England games?
Mowgli replied to Batman's topic in The Saints
I know where you're coming from and in a way I agree but surely this is the sort of attitude that has started to kill international football. To play for your country has to be one of the highest honour in football and I cringe when players think they are too good to be called up and then not used. Besides, there is a real opportunity to have a Southampton influence right across theback with Clyne (RB) Shaw(LB) Chambers (CB) and AN Other in front of Forster! -
As are Shaw, Chambers, Walcott, Ox, Lallana, Sir Rickie
-
Clyne and Forster in.
-
In a recent interview Ron confirmed that he wanted to bring Pelle and Tadic to the club but added that Tadic was already on our scouting list.
-
Would welcome him back but hope it doesn't come to that as it may risk cloudingthe brilliant career he had with us. Left at just the right time to hold a perfect memory. so sad its not worked out at Liverhampton.

Last player to be transferred from Southampton to Man City?
Mowgli replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
Seem to remember being very disappointed in the manner of his departure. Yet another who thought the grass greener but never made it at Citeh -
He's good and hopefully he will get better but you could say the same about Long and dobn't forget we have Rodriguez to come back. So I can see them rotating for the same sport to be honest. Same in midfield rotating Cork JWP and Wanyama depending on the opposition and what we need to break them down. It's nice to be in that position where we can rotate. It means players don't tire so qucikly and you don't get anyone getting disillusioned sitting on the bench week in week out. As others have said the fact that we have a core of 17/18 players that form the squad every week is good for our consistency. We certainly don't need signnig with the likes of Isgrove, Reed and Targett waiting for a chance.
-
Agree with this. Thought it was a bit off the article a few weeks ago that listed him as one of the worst ever Saints managers. That said, his win record for us wasn't good
-
Didn't realise b*tch was a rude word. Sorry.
-
WTF. A man masterminds our recovery. The owners take it on and we sit second in the table. And fans still want to ***** and point score???
-
Was amazed his memories did not include the goals against P*mpey..

Please for Lovren in a way. He knows now that he probably made the wrong choice so Karma served. Goal will do his confidence good. Maybe they should play him up front more often!! Gutted for Lambert - its a personal nightmare for him but it was his choice! Lallana.... ...ineffective game by all accounts but I'm surehe will come good there without ever actually warranting the price tag (bit like Lovren really). But what has really made my week is the fact that Poch has to deal with questions from the press about Kane. 'Do you think Kane will stay because there has been talk of him being linked with Southampton'. At last people are realising a transfer from Spurs to Saints is a step up and Poch is having to fight to allay fears from his own fans.
