Gallagher on the bench against the North London Yobbos, please
Mowgli replied to alpine_saint's topic in The Saints
Better to comment on what you see rather than a knee jerk based on press report. Gallagher had a very quiet first half and apart from the clinical strike had an average game. McQueen stood out as the one closer to the first team but in reality neither are quite ready for moving up yet. -
The movement (lack of) I can put up with but why when we find him with a ball does it have to bounce off him by about 2 feet. It's a similar role to the one Rickie played last season but Rickie would hold the ball well at his feet until someone came up to lay it off too. Pelle expects others to pick up sooner. Also, pelle's flick one rarely seem to find a Saints player. But that is how we are set up to play and little point in blaming Pelle. We should also be seeing a better support from midfield.

Good grief. I'm so glad the players have more belief in themselves than supporters! 4th remains a possibility right up to the time it's a mathematical impossibility.

I know where you are coming from but whatever personal feelings people have the facts override them. Lowe Wilde and cortese all had a hand. Back on topic. This is a really strange thread. If kelvin had a mare of a game yesterday I can understand the concerns over th keeper but for me he showed he still has great shot stopping ability and the confidence of the defence. With a very strong back line, he will see us out the season with no trouble at all

Adkins on SSN this morning talking Saints and UCL/PL title
Mowgli replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Sammy lee and Erwin Koeman have both managed big clubs before taking on assisting roles at Southampton. Sammy lee managed Bolton before returning as academy coach. It's not in conceivable. That said, I would expect Nigel's next appointment to be Sheffield Wednesday manager where he can once again target premier league glory. -

I have to say, it's a shame we can't find a role for him at the club. Such a great guy. Would do wonders with some of the youngsters. -
The target for Ron as I recall was to finish as high as possible and to play entertaining football. Getting Ron was more about someone signing up to the philosophy of the club. We are targeting Europe. Maybe this year, maybe next. The key is that with players such as Reed, McCarthy, Slatterly et al coming through we are no longer afraid of losing players. Ron is expecting to lose two or three this summer.

A Not to mention the fact that his argument is based on us spending £60m on players without mentioning the £90m of players we lost.

I assume this is a joke as the glasses are clearly on Forsters head - just lifted for the camera which is not unusual. Otherwise, it must have given JWP a good laugh.....

Doesn't stop it being true though. I still think Poch has made a mistake and the relationship with Levy will ultimately be his downfall. Only difference now is no one really cares what happens to Poch as we are already better off.

Koeman says Mané was dropped due to discipline
Mowgli replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
If that's the benchmark then he is redeemed. He stayed till the end of the game. -
A Not just football fans. There's a fair number of players and staff who were unhappy with how we handled his exit. Fans may be pathetic. Lallana has also shown himself to be pretty pathetic hasn't he. He may deny he refused to play for the club but it wasn't the first time that was hinted at. Did he not threaten to strike when we were relegated from the Championship in an attempt to secure a move to a bigger club? Whatever we say in here. Some will boo. Others will appreciate his contribution over the years. In my mind he's a bit of a knob but an undoubted talent. All I want is for him (and Liverpool) to have a bad day on Sunday.

We really need a song for Brandon to rub this in.
-
Leave it to the mods to sort out. No need to get all worked up over one post.
-
It really wasn't. Excellent ball. Had to be quick and spotted his target well.

A So if I understand you correctly you are criticising others for having a point of view different to your own and challenging them to have a go at you for having a different point of view to them. But it doesn't matter because you won't come back and read them. Just as a matter of interest - why did you bother posting that, or even reading the thread in order to make your point. The whole idea of a forum is to have different views. It would be pretty boring if everyone agreed with first post submitted. By the way, lallana behaved like a world class ****** when he left. Notwithstanding, he is a very talented player who is unlikely to be affected by any abuse he gets. But if it makes people feel better, what the hell..... .....go for it.

If you really don't realise that current board have plans in place for Europe you have seriously underestimated them.

Www Classy....

Pellé getting some stick from our fans.....fair or not?
Mowgli replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Not really fair. Koemans has set up the team with Pelle as the target man to knock back for others to score. He's doing that pretty well I think. While team misfired up front tonight -
I've heard a whisper that Bet Fred are using some poster similar to this to be placed strategically around Southampton next weekend
-
Reading this thread it is a bit frightening how little we know about football really.
-
Not really. We wanted to keep him as a quality fringe player and offered good terms but he shows class by opting for regular football over a big pay day. Once he made that decision the money was largely irrelevant with six months left on the contract. Top man who will do well at swansea
-
Probably in a very small minority with that view
-
If they are the two I'm thinking of, it's a brave steward who would take em on.

We need Cork and Clyne. Clyne is probably one of the best right backs in the league and Cork will always be in the 17 squad giving us options in midfield. That said, both can be replaced if need be. Just can't understand why they would even think about leaving right now. Oh yes I cam £££££££
