    IMbula ?

I get lazy sometimes and forget to put IMO at the end which I always thought what a forum was all about. Yes, younger and bags of potential. Capable of breaking up play and finding that killer cross-field pass but has a stronger physical presence than Morgan. More importantly his tackles are more effective. For me Morgan goes in far too rashly on occasions with both feet and showing studs. It's why he picks up so many yellows. If we have to lose Morgan - and I hope we don't - then his occasionally reckless tackling and lack of goals from midfield are the two areas to improve on. All IMO of course

Would be a significant upgrade on Morgan but sadly it's not going to happen.
  3. And in other news 24 year old Oscar Gobern released by Huddersfield Town. There's one some of us thought was destined for big things!

It's not a difficult concept but assumes that is how it works. Which some people disagree. The other view is that we get 1.5-2m to cancel the buy option and then we bid on an open market against other clubs. Little point in arguing about it since no one on this forum can be sure of the precise nature of the original deal.
  5. Bigger or better? Club or team? Better club is easy to answer - Saints (why would a biased saints fan say otherwise). Better team is a close call between Swansea and Saints who have both proved that teamwork developed over a period of time is better than blowing millions on so called superstars. Bigger club and bigger team will obviously lean toward Liverpool and Spurs but they are massively underperforming because of Rogers and Levy respectively. But as I've said before that is just my opinion and I respect other views without feeling the need to suggest they are wrong
  6. Staged payments toward £15m does not sound unreasonable - based on top 6 finish and maybe CL qualification.

I love the way the usual suspects always descend into a debate about which is the bigger club. The is no definition so it's a purely subjective view. Spurs, Liverpool and saints are all big clubs but no one is ever going to prove (other than in their own mind) which of those is bigger.
  8. Agreed but Cedric will be genuine competition as a starter. I suspect that like me, Dellman is hoping we've bought a Clyne 'upgrade'
  9. The majority of our academy is British. We try to hold on to them but if they want to take short cuts, we will inevitably replace some of them with foreigners to plug the gaps. That said, we have signed J Rod, Forster, Bertrand and Long to balance the foreign imports so I don't think there is too much to be concerned about.
  10. Not to mention the blue lighting on the Itchen Bridge....
  11. Surprised that it hasn't happened before now (if true of course). Then again it he would not have been on our radar had we not secured Koemans services. Feyernord probably equally unhappy with us.

    Jim Steele

We had lost the first leg 0-2 and when Anderlecht came back to the Dell we were all over them. Jim had a brilliant game and we were virtually camped in their half. Brought it back to 2-2 agg. And pressing for a winner. An innocuous ball broke to the half way line and Jim went to put his foot on the ball and play it back in. For some stranger reason the ball squirmed away under his foot and an Anderlecht player took it away. One on one with the keeper he scored to knock us out. Great player. Honestly did not realise that was his last game for us. His partnership with Blythe was one of the best I can remember.
  13. I came from a family of Wednesday fans so whilst I never supported them myself, it does feel a bit like he's gone over to the dark side. Equivalent of joining Portsmouth (who some would argue are also a big club...)
  14. Very sad. **** club. He is worth so much more than that.

    Loanees

Strangely I have assumed from RK interviews that both will be permanent signings next season.
  16. You carry on living in the past mate. The rest of us can look forward to some exciting years as Saints fans. Meanwhile, in a place close to Merseyside, football fans are still trying to convince themselves that Brenda Rogers is a tactically genius and knows how to invest £117m wisely to secure 6th place in the league. Returning to Clyne, he is undoubtedly replaceable but would sooner keep as much of the squad together as possible. He has been a key player for us and can still improve. Like Morgan, makes no sense moving unless to a CL club.
  17. Harsh. I heard he had already declared his desire to move on and play regularly somewhere to cement his USA standing. Hardly the attitude of someone who was content treading water.
  18. I think the jury is still out on Elia and Djuricic but both have shown some quality. Can't help feeling RK should work with Gaston for a season to see if he can get more out of him. But if Gaston wants to start afresh somewhere else, I would wish him best of luck for the future.
  19. It was very telling to see the embrace with Kat afterwards. Ralph is clearly a guy she trusts and respects so his importance at the club should not be underestimated
  20. I'm hoping that Ralph comes across better if you're there. You tube mutes a lot of the audience reaction which makes it sound lamer than it probably really is. Does seem to be popular but still needs to learn the British 'less is more' philosophy. I won't knock him too much as his speech when we opened the ML pavilion was truly outstanding.
  21. It's stripes. Fine by me.
  22. This. Wouldn't want it any other way! It has always been a roller coaster ride with saints.
  23. To be fair, you just made that up.
  24. Koeman has already said Gazza will start on Saturday. JWP and Morgan both back. Think we are messing about with attacking midfielders so I'd go for minimal change Gazza Clyne Toby Fonte Bertrand Morgan Wanyama Elia Davis Mane Pelle Long to replace Mane as he tires second half. Likewise Djuricic for Elia
  25. Don't worry, you're not alone. There are quite a few who have made themselves look ridiculous on this thread
