  1. As long as Fonte and VVD are sandwiched between Forster and Romeu we'll be fine.
  2. He was my MOTM too. I thought he was great. But that was because of his runs, his through balls and his crossing. It's long been a discussion about whether he or Cedric is the better right back and I think possibly the answer depends on the opposition. The comment was in response to the suggestion that he could eliminate the threat of Antonio. Two people sensibly expressing different views.
  3. What?
  4. Quite a surprising quote since many people have indicated he was defensively very poor on Wednesday. He is undoubtedly better than Cedric going forward but in a match up with Antonio I would personally pick Cedric every time.

In your opinion.... JWP was in charge of the midfield yesterday. Now he has grown a set of balls he can tackle and hold off the players with the best of them (IMO of course...)

Back to Hesketh, he grew in confidence as the game went on. Was always looking for the ball and had a great eye for the defence breaking pass.

Yes I was impressed too. 95% of the time. There were just one or two occasions when he seemed to fade and the game started to pass him by. I put it down to the fact that he and Clasie were in similar roles and were learning to play as a unit.
  8. Time will tell. It's looking good so far since he has had a very positive effect on an Everton side without radically changing the line up. However, my point would be that it is the club rather the manager that brings players in. The coach has the job of getting the best out of them. Our recruitment is so good that most decent coaches will be able take them to a top 10 finish. It's pushing on from there that will show just how good the coach is. My point is that whilst Koeman deserves some credit, it is the players that got us where we were last season.
  9. Fair points. Would equally be happy to Fonte for VVD and JRod (if fit) for Austin or Long (Austin did not play the whole game Saturday). Overall I think we have enough depth to rotate and treat all competitions seriously. Otherwise, why bother entering?
  10. And have the same people bemoaning about blowing a real chance at silverware. Spot on!
  11. MOTD2 were waxing lyrical about the transformation of Redmond to a striker. They commented that playing on the wing for Norwich he struggled to stay in the side and never really had the chance to express himself. They actually highlighted his decision making as one of his strengths. His shooting, they said, will get better but despite the miss he was their man of the match by a country mile. I'de cancel my licence fee if i was you.

Thought they had always been in the squad. It's another step to see if they make the final 18.

Might be waiting for the right one... ...Terence Kongola?
  14. Actually that makes the scoring more impressive...

    Swansea Game

Think you were right first time. He's got a knock. Will be assessed tomorrow but should be OK for Sunday.
  16. To compensate for the under-hit pass he bailed Martina out in the first half. Coco was busy contesting the throw in while the ball was played down the left hand side. Could have been disastrous had Yosh not come across to cover.
  17. I think he must have missed out the winky thing - or didn't go. Most of the MOTM nominations are bang on the money but I thought Yosh and JWP deserve a bit of a mention too. Overall a good team performance that made a decent Sparta side look poor. We just never let them settle - you can see what Claude is trying to do now. It's starting to come together and this win is maybe a good turning point.
  18. Worth a try but I don't think she will come back without him.
  19. Mane was the same. But wouldn't you rather get two years of Boufal and a handsome profit after two years than not see him at all? I would.
  20. Doesn't that put you off forums rather than football? It's only rumour.
  21. I've supported Saints for over 40 years and I can honestly say that this is the best era in the clubs history. Good cup runs give good memories but there's never been an era before where seven years of continuous improvement has resulted in a top six finish and a European adventure. The trouble with all this is we become complacent. We suddenly feel invincible and can't understand why the four or five clubs above us don't just roll over and concede we are the best club ever. So four games without a win is definitely enough to turn the average fan off a game where obscene amounts of money are changing hands with all the other clubs apart from our own.
  22. Until you get found out...
  23. A sort of 'welcome to the top six' strategy...
  24. No - but may be changed for this game
