    Ivan Juric

Official - Ivan Jurić appointed as Saints boss: https://www.southamptonfc.com/en/news/article/saints-appoint-ivan-juric-as-mens-first-team-manager
  2. Danny Rohl's just done a press conf for the first time since all the rumours surfaced... "I think the most important key point is that I’m here, that I’l take the game tomorrow," Röhl told the media. "It’s always an honour when you’re linked with Premier league clubs, and people know my history (at Southampton), it was a part of my life. But the most important key point is the game tomorrow. "My decision is clear, I will stay here at Sheffield Wednesday. "The club knows my ambitions, I think we have agreed that we want to improve and attack higher positions in the table and we know what that means in January… "I’m here, I love this club, I love the supporters and I love my team. We’ve achieved a lot, but our journey is not over. We’ll try to keep improving as a team."
  3. And of course they started doing great as soon as they were cut loose of Juric - ah wait, no, they're bottom half still...
  4. To be fair, I didn't actually think you were crazy until I got to this bit
  5. Because if you want Corberan/Rohl in the event of relegation to the Championship, you don't want them to have lost 15/16 of 20 PL games beforehand, presumably. Juric has top level experience and will give it a crack, if not we will go down, sell some players for big £ and have the compo to buy out Rohl/Corberan if we so wish
  6. Sounds like it's a bit of a fiddly contract. Could conceivably be structued as: - 18 month contract as basic - 6 months in, if we're a Championship club there's a get-out clause for one/both parties - 6 months in, if we're a Premier League club we utilise the two-year extension and he's a PL manager on a 4yr deal
  7. Pretty standard, I imagine. He will want a pay off if he has to take the hit of having the relegation on his CV
  8. From David Ornstein, The Athletic: Juric has agreed a deal until the summer of 2026 with the a two-year option to extend. The contracts are being drafted and Juric is expected to arrive in the UK today (Friday). The Croatian will have a visa appointment and, if all goes to plan, he will be in place for Southampton’s trip to Fulham on Sunday. Juric is viewed by Southampton as a strong character who is good at making teams hard to beat through physical intensity and a solid defensive structure, though does have good ideas in possession too. After winning only once in their opening 16 league games, the club felt the main job now is for the team to be more intense and solid at the back.
  9. You will be shocked to learn that Gabby Agbonlahor didn't really add much when talkSPORT discussed this
  10. It is amusing seeing people talk Juric down by saying he didn't last in his one big job (Roma) but also suggest/be excited for the idea of Graham Potter
  11. He kind of has signed an 18 month contract. It's 6 months with a further 12 optional on survival. So a get-out clause for both parties upon relegation. SR have made a lot of braindead decisions on the football front but I really don't believe this is one. This is sensible

    Ivan Juric

You live in cuckoo land, mate
  13. He went into Roma after the unpopular American ownership had sacked club icon Daniele De Rossi, for context... the fans were bang against it all from day one Knowledge of English football is nonsense. What about the Premier League's identity is particularly English? It's a global league, the teams are just based here. Jones and Martin had spent almost their entire careers over here and it helped neither of them when push came to shove Nobody with PL experience, and good PL experience, is coming anywhere near this job. You're just deluding yourself to think otherwise
  14. He did a pretty decent job at Torino tbf. And clearly Roma thought he was impressive enough to appoint. I think getting someone to agree to come in on a six-month arrangement was probably the ideal outcome, to be honest. Puts us in a position to make a new decision in the summer once all the factors are known without having to pay somebody off again
  15. Carlos Corberan: Southampton considering approach for West Brom head coach to replace Russell Martin https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13275613/carlos-corberan-southampton-considering-approach-for-west-brom-head-coach-to-replace-russell-martin
  16. Ivan Juric being linked again in Italy. Would make sense, as I'm sure he was supposedly on our wish-list in the Ralph/Jones/Selles season I think talkSPORT initially said our shortlist was three managers, all foreign and two out of work In which case would make sense if it is: Rohl, Hjumland, Juric
  17. Yep, almost guaranteed it was negotiated at the start. Shows he has a decent agent, more than anything. 'The target is promotion and we'll give you a three-year contract' 'What's the reward?' 'We'll change your Championship salary to a PL salary and replace the elapsed year' - (and presumably he got a tidy bonus sum too) Doesn't really seem unreasonable. Always find it odd that people have much of an issue with him getting a one-year extension after promotion. Even though he got sacked, it's preferable to him being a success and us being sat here now with the manager only having one full season left on his contract (we've been burnt by that before)
  18. David Ornstein on the sacking of Russell Martin and what comes next
  19. Was thinking the same when I was scrolling through the betting odds
