The link between midfield and attacking players is non-existent. Sulemana not contributing enough. Wonder if we should change to 4321.

Nice comments. My only concern would be what will happen now if they give the permanent job to someone else and he is asked to be an assistant again? Given his strong comments about wanting to be a number one.

"You train how you play, how can you train how you play if you have 14 snoods on, 15 hats and leggings, no shin pads, white socks, it’s not relevant. I told the players, ‘these myths I’m going to bust them for you right now’." https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/sean-dyche-everton-snoods-training-26145542 Different approach from different managers.

Amazing how people get so angry about football. If you're getting that angry about a decision a referee makes, especially as a spectator rather than a player I think it shows you have some problems that need addressing. I get that you can be passionate about wanting your team to win, but when it involves wishing and wanting to inflict physical pain on another person it just over the top IMO. If you feel that aggressive take up a marital arts or something and learn about controlled aggression. 😅 It can be a bit more understandable when you're playing to get worked-up about a decision. Would love football to follow the example of rugby but changing a culture that is son entrenched for so many years is a real challenge. I think we should be more grateful for refs, even if they are a poor standard at Sunday-league level, we need them to run the games.

If I had to choose between Marsch and some of the former pros (Gerrard, Lampard and Rooney) I think I would rather go with the former. Has much more experience, might fit in with the club model and it would mean we could avoid the nauseating media love-in with the other three. I also think the reputations and expectation around those ex-players will bring unnecessary attention and added pressure. Would happily have someone who is just capable and understated but can do a decent job. Wait, maybe now I am thinking about Prime Ministers instead of a football manager...

Clearly it was the right decision to get rid of him. Had one good week with three wins. Can't blame a guy for testing himself at a higher level, even if he isn't cut out to do it.

Adkins - was great when he was here but his time has passed. Done nothing since to suggest he deserves another shot here. Poch - will not be coming here unless we offered him outrageous money until the end of the season. Even then, why we he risk diminishing his reputation? Madrid or Spurs might be an option for him come the end of the season. Gerrard - honestly cannot see the point of him coming in. Bielsa - probably wouldn't come until the end of the season? No idea how tall Paul would fit his style of football Nuno - would be a great option but might be on mega money in the Middle-East. Would he want to manage in the Championship again next season? Same applies to pretty much anyone unless we go for an 'until the end of the season' appointment. If we try and appoint a long-term manager now there will have to be some serious convincing about having a big budget to try and get us promoted again next season. They would also have to align with our method of buying and playing youngsters to then develop and sell. Not sure if Benítez could fit in with that.

If we had one this I would have had some genuine belief but I really think that is it for us now. The half-time team-talk would have been easy for the Wolves manager - "they cannot win a game and they will lose confidence". What happened in that second-half? The midfield were so tired, we needed to make the change. So many players just cannot do the 90 mins.

The midfield is knackered. The sub needed to come about 10 minutes ago!

Got to keep calm. Don't give opportunity to make it 10v10. AMN working at the back as can pick a pass and carry out from back a bit. New winger - so exciting to watch, what we've been missing for ages.

Just watched some the pre-match press conference and really didn't think he came across that badly. I like that he answers honestly even if it isn't always polished. Although some of the answers did have a touch of David Brent... Yes he loves banging on about Wales but can't understand the anti-Welsh comments that appear from time-to-time, just moronic. While results are rubbish he deserves criticism but I think the micro-analysis of everything he says and does is a bit over the top. Most of his answers regarding player selection (B-team game last week, use of Armstrong etc) seemed perfectly reasonable. But bloody hell we need a result on Saturday. Very difficult for the board to keep him beyond that without a win.

I think is clear the majority of us do not want Jones to be here. Having said that, I do feel that there would be some validity in Ankersen's answer at the fans' forum that Jones maybe does deserve a chance with the new signings brought it, if we weren't at such an advanced stage of the season. In any other scenario I think that would be an acceptable situation. However, as has been rightly pointed out, Jones has had time to improve the performance of the current squad and has failed to do so. The Manchester City game, although can be seen as a bit of a freak-result, proves that the players could be capable of a lot more, even if not on a very consistent basis, but certainly better than what they are showing now. I also think the players have gotten off quite lightly, and the board to an extent (even though they have got players now) and don't think everything can be leveled at Jones. This week seemed a perfect time to make a change for many but we have Jones for now and can't help but think we should use Saturday to try and create a positive environment for the players (even if you just ignore the manager) but equally can understand the frustration of those who pay and go every week. I am probably in the minority that feels a bit sorry for Jones and would like to see him sacked, not just because of the poor performances, but also to save him from potential further abuse and the potential effect it could have on this mental health, given that he seems a bit volatile at times. If we are to have any chance of staying up we clearly need to galvanize the group as one, which it seems is just not the case at the moment.

Nuno could be a great option if we can align a short-term and long-term goals together. If only looking for a short-term option e.g., until the rest of the season, someone with experience like Benítez could be a good option. Although his recent spell at Everton does make one a bit cautious. Would like to someone with experience in the Premier League and of fighting relegation. Ralph had his time here and don't think he should/would come back.

I think Edozie would actually benefit from a season of Championship football to toughen up a bit and get used to the physical side of the game a bit more. He clearly has talent but is just getting bullied on the pitch at the moment.

The home game against Brighton was my first home game in three years, and was shocked at just how bad we were, and consequently convinced we were going down. Since then the week when we won three in a row shows that even if the squad is not good, there is the capacity there to actually go and win games. Which at times makes it more frustrating. With the greatest respect to Jones, he has not done himself any favours (interviews, team selection etc) but I do think the negativity around him has been a bit much and built upon a narrative around him from the get-go. I do think we look a bit better defensively (when we have four at the back). Hopefully the new signings can breath some positivity into the squad, and maybe the competition for places up front and out-wide will improve performances of existing players. Haven't been especially impressed with the manager like others but maybe it is time to put the focus on getting behind the team and trying to create a positive atmosphere instead. If you don't like his interviews and they bother you that much just ignore them and don't watch them? Can't see the board making a managerial change anytime before the end of the season but if things don't improve in the coming weeks then it is going to be a difficult situation. Think we are going down but regardless of opinion on Jones hope we can get some good results in upcoming games just to give us a chance of staying up.

Poll: how do you think our League season will end?

Quite sure we will get relegated but am hoping the new signings give us a couple of decent results before it is confirmed. -
Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg

Came over from Scandinavia for both Villa and Newcastle game - was gutted by the results and two disallowed goals although at least was able to initially celebrate two Saints goals before being chalked off...😶 One improvement under Jones is we do look a lot more solid as a unit. Yes, we are conceding the odd goal but it is not like we are getting hammered week in week out. Clearly, we need a striker, one might argue that just by getting a new striker it won't change much but actually a better striker might make better runs and help create more etc. To echo what others have said, just poor management not getting it sorted earlier... I though Diallo had his best game in terms of breaking up the play and getting around the pitch. Alcarez winning the ball and looking for forward passes was also a big plus. Thought we actually played reasonably well but when the opposition can bring on a £30+ million-pound striker and Saint-Maximin it is very difficult to compete with that. KWP - what an engine. With regards to Newcastle fans being in the home end, clearly it is a stupid decision and you're asking for trouble. But it seemed from our seats that other people were jumping in or trying to get involved from rows above in the Kingsland North and causing other people below to fall over, or almost get pushed forward is just irresponsible, no matter what you think of Newcastle fans being in the home end. Especially as it may effect other Saints fans sitting nearby or hinder stewards or police from removing away fans more quickly and efficiently 🤷♂️ Still think at 0-1 its it worth resting players v Blackpool and giving it a go away at Newcastle. Tough to turn around but not impossible.
