Crazy, tough league. But we can do it. We have the quality through the spine now. Sure, we have given ourselves a lot to do but the belief is back alongside the quality. Start of the season I thought we had no chance of autos, but Martin has done fantastically well. All we can do is keep playing well and see what happens. I see no reason to be negative anymore whilst we are playing this well.

I’d make a lot of changes personally, cup isn’t a priority at all this season. We need to aim for autos.

Sure - it may not work, but if you don’t try, you won’t know. Is the answer to just accept a crap atmosphere where the oppo gets an advantage? While we are winning consistently is the time to try something new. Going away to spurs and seeing their home end made me jealous. Ours obviously won’t be as big but if we could recreate something remotely similar it would be great fun. Our away support is always loud and proud. There has to be a way to bring that atmosphere back to st Mary’s

Don’t disagree that they are potentially good enough. I do disagree that players from the championship should be selected. Unless they were absolutely world class. To play for England you have to be playing week in, week out at premier league standard or higher imo. I would be annoyed at an England manager selecting players from the championship unless they were very obviously the best Messi/Ronaldo. Hopefully THB can earn his way to the top level with us.

Standing is usually cheaper than seating, at least in countries and grounds where it’s possible. Few fucking negative Nancy’s on here, Jesus Christ. The club is trying to do something to help the atmosphere and the team and people are whining on about what the council would think. Fuck me

If you introduce a standing section, you introduce cheaper prices. If you introduce cheaper prices, you attract more, young fans. It’s not rocket science mate. I’m not sure why you and a few others are being so negative. It’s worth a try to improve the home atmosphere.

One of very few players that I genuinely will wish well if he goes, even if he goes to fucking Chelsea. Been outstanding for us this season, top attitude, top player. I really hope he stays but he is very obviously much too good for this league, so if someone wants to splash the cash then there’s not much we can do.

I like this. Anything the club can do to try and make the atmosphere better is a win in my eyes.

I think there is a big case to be made that none of the defenders from the last couple of seasons can be judged too harshly* because they had an absolute shit show going on in front of them. Everyone at the club forgot how to play football for a couple of years. *Except Lyanco, he’s toilet.

Fantastic, fantastic work. Today’s performance epitomises everything he said about needing time etc. He has made even our worst performers better, he has us competent and solid. He has us mixing it up in attack. Absolutely amazing work. Completely turned the club around. Happiest I’ve been leaving st Mary’s in absolutely ages.

Just want to say a very big public sorry to Russell Martin. I was one that was questioning the appointment at the start. Today was fantastic. Previous saints teams would have been bullied by such a big physical team. But martins team had the confidence to play them off the park. It was genuinely fantastic, just like the last couple of months. Russell Martin, fucking outstanding work sir.

This season has made me appreciate Sir Rickie even more (if that’s even possible). His strength, touch, creativity and vision on top of his deadly finishing made the championship seem easy. What a player he was.

The good thing for me is we continued to mix things up and look threatening the whole game. Sometimes, especially in this league, you just can’t break down a low block and the oppo gets lucky. Norwich we’re so deep that it was pretty embarrassing to be honest - they didn’t even try and play. Concludes a fantastic second half to the year and everyone at the club deserves credit. We are now in touching distance of the autos which is all we can ask for. Haply new year all
