Your ability to judge goalkeepers is on par with your ability to take photographs

Ref is a prick. Stonewall. Utter bell end
-
He wouldn’t have saved both and you know it.
-
Wishing everyone well, no matter the result. Hope everyone’s enjoying the sunshine. Up the fucking saints.
-
If he’s out, it’s a huge issue. We are nowhere near as good without his presence up front.
-
And where is JWP now? On the bench again, as West Ham slowly fall away from Europe... The gap between Prowsey and Downes is nowhere near as big as you’re making out. (To be clear - I love prowsey. I’m not trying to slate him at all. But you’re overrating him massively here. Downes could easily prove to be better if given a run at the PL. ) I’d happily take both of them back if we go up.
-
You’re overlooking 2 facts: 1) That David Moyes is a football terrorist who hates good footballers. 2) The level that West Ham are aiming for (Europe) is way above the level we and a few other solid PL clubs are aiming. A sane PL manager would have kept Downes at the club imo. Most WHU fans felt the same.
-
it shouldn’t amaze you. There are plenty of managers with more experience that we could have got. Martin was (and is) a huge gamble based on his record.
-
l do agree with this, but I don’t think its that mental of an opinion. I actually do think Downes has the potential to be better than JWP if given a chance at PL. He is a “proper DM” that does his job well and understands his role deeply. Loves a tackle, fantastic touch. He really reminds me of Morgan Schneiderlin. Aside from his free kicks, JWP was a bit of a nothing player when he didn’t have Romeu next to him. I can barely think of any games that JWP directly dragged us through (without his free kicks). Obviously Downes hasn’t proven himself at the highest level whatsoever, whereas JWP has many, many times. But in open play it feel like Downes has a bigger overall impact on the team than JWP.

I think he’s more than done enough to warrant another season. I also hope that he will have learned a lot this year. There has been so much change at the club it makes sense to keep the same manager if we don’t go up imo.
-
Excited. Playoffs are a win/win for me as I’m really not fussed about going back up. I hate the PL, VAR, fake fans, media circus. Championship is much more my cup of tea. Which means if we win, I will be happy for the clubs finances and winning at Wembley. If we lose, we get more seasons of proper football. Happy days

Why wasn’t he in the squad if he was fit?!
-
Quality, watching that pitch invasion reminds me of when we went up. Hope they make the most of today, it’s the best it will ever get.

Has to be between him, Carrillo, Mara and Ali dia for worst ever saints player. But based on his price tag it’s hard to look far past him. Absolute dross
-
That sounds like a standard Saturday at St Mary’s tbf
-
Some people like to moan. Decent price imo. About the standard for the season, which is good considering it’s a massive game.

I agree Our form can’t get any worse. May as well save people’s legs and get the team as fresh as possible. FWIW the playoffs team should be: macca kwp THB Bednarek Stephens (LB) smallbone Downes Aribo AA Adams Edozie (Fraser off the bench). This is the team that seemed to work well this season. Possibly swap manning in for Stephens. But he’s a defensive liability tbh.
-
You know what. I’m actually buzzing that Ipswich are gonna do it. Probably worse for saints, because I think they would be the easier team to play in the playoff final if we get there. But I’m glad they’re getting autos. They deserve it and what a journey for them. Just wish our players would show as much fight as them.
-
I want to be positive about our players but I also don’t see anything in Mara that makes me think he will be a success here. Part of it is his attitude (he pulls out of tackles etc) but also the club is to blame. Throwing him on in different positions for 5 minutes here and there.. how can any player thrive under those conditions? He needed to go out on loan to league 1 or 2 this season and learn how to be a striker (or a winger. What even is he at this point?).
-
It does make me laugh. Southampton fans are in a better position than most other teams fans to judge which league players should be in. As saints fans we have been down to league one and up to the heights of Europe. One thing is for sure, we have seen many different levels of players. For that reason alone I feel quite comfortable in judging what level a player is these days. Yet they’re trying to convince us he’s the best keeper in the division. Loooooool. Maybe at the next “tactics night” the club should be the one listening to the fans
-
Warnock would have this squad in the autos this season.
-
It’s mad 😂 I am 100% confident that I could do a better job than our scouting team if I was paid to find good footballers. Who the fuck was watching Carrillo, Tall paul, Sulemana, Mara, Djenepo etc, etc, etc and thinking “yeah they’ve got enough quality to make a difference in the premier league”. Truly awful players. Would Mara even get into our league one side from a few years ago? I’d argue no chance
-
He should have spent the season on loan at a league 1 or 2 team. I understand why we recruited him. Sort of player that you can gamble on and hope he develops. But the way his career has been handled here is mental. The the fact we are throwing him in here and there and expecting him to do something is just awful management tbh.

Replying to this post in order as it’s annoyed me. - Coaching the whole team to a style which then means you lose every big game isn’t good coaching. - His style is not a big part of us scoring more goals this season. That’s because we have gone down a league and have better players in every position than 90% of our competitors. - He is the one that has stuck with bazunu and those players that don’t perform. - Club record unbeaten record doesnt matter in the slightest when you shit the bed in the games that actually matter - He is doing a bad job.
