  1. Looks like we will be effectively down by Xmas as that was last chance saloon today. No shots on target in a must win game. I still think he will be here by Xmas but I can’t see him being here next season whatever guff SR might talk about ten year plans. Once we are effectively down the morale will drop like a stone and we will be on the end of some serious hidings and it will start to get toxic quickly. I just can’t see SR not capitulating before the end of the season.. They won’t of course act when it’s still possible to do something to change the outcome ( albeit with our attack I think most managers would struggle to keep us up) but I can’t se him getting through this season as it’s going to be pretty grim. We’ve already lost 9 from 11 and can anyone see it getting better ? There absolutely nothing to indicate it will. But as we keep saying who on earth will they appoint next. I have no faith in these guys at all and you get the feeling most decent managers will give us a wide berth.
  2. yes - fantastic save at the foot of the post
  3. We won a game in the PL !! Needed a bit of luck and helps having a keeper who can make saves
  4. looks like a championship side
  5. Will this be the day we finally win a game in the PL ? Have lost count but it must be now 23 or so games since we did so. That really is abysmal stuff
  6. Feels like he will be here for a while regardless of results. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him still here next season following our inevitable relegation. He’s being found out this season.. His game management is really poor and it’s clear he’s not one of those coaches who can make the sum greater than the parts. Quite the opposite really. In his defence however he he was given little to work with offensively this season. I don’t know what input he had on signing the likes of BBD and Cornet and even Archer to a degree but we have the worst attack in the PL and if you were the likes of Moyes you would look at that attack and think theres no chance i’m keeping them up. God knows what the owners think to all this but for the fans it’s been a dire season and it doesn’t feel like we will start wining games regularly again until next season and it’s only November.
  7. been following saints since 1982 and he’s the worst keeper in all that time
  8. peak bravery this board feels quiet a symptom of the fact we all know we we are going down (in october)
  9. It’s pretty depressing that we are no longer taking about staying up but getting a respectable number of points to avoid embarrassment I wonder if the club has the same approach or if they genuinely believe we can stay up. If they don’t then it might explain why RM is still here
  10. makes sense - in order to get back to where we are now we have to pursue a strategy that first gets us relegated it’s almost impossible to see him turning this around as we need to stop conceding goals and at no point in his managerial career has been able to set a team up to to defend equally there is no point sacking him if we don’t have a good replacement lined up and I’m not sure a top manager will be interested
  11. who are you thinking of ? Dave Basset or Jim Smith ? Someone like that ?
  12. We score .75 goals a game and concede 2.25 goals game I wonder if there is any team in the football league where the gap is as wide as this. I think our forward recruitment was poor but he is a terrible defensive coach and on these numbers we are on to concede nearly 100 goals this season.
  13. In our last 6 games in the PL we have conceded 3 goals in 5 of those. We are clearly not good enough to stay up and have not won a game in the PL for 21 matches but I think the club need to acknowledge that if they stick with RM there’s every reason to think we will be setting new records for the worst Pl season. I think it would be a legitimate question to ask RM if he believes we can actually win a game this season in the PL and if so why when we are conceding on average more than two goals a game and scoring less than a goal a game.
  14. the forward recruitment wasn’t good enough and we bought too many middling players rather than a few stars
  15. he could be both dreadful and waiting for a gig with a bigger club, if he was deluded as to his abilities
  16. ‘in all probability’ is admirably optimistic think its more a case of ‘beyond all reasonable doubt’ That was it today - game over it’s just a question now of how embarrassing is this season going to be as at the moment i am finding it difficult to see how we win a game
  17. I think replacing Rasmus has to be the starting point but until that happens we haven’t hit rock bottom
  18. Had to laugh when the third went in - we haven’t won now in the PL for 21 games ( half a season) and we clearly aren’t competitive at this level so there’s not much to say really is there. Seems odd though that the seasons effectively over in October.
  19. must win game and really bad decision not to play TP we have no one to hold the ball up again.. small guy up front and where we won’t play balls in behind. difficult to see where a goal is coming from with that side and we will concede and so need two to win
  20. stating the obvious but we have to win otherwise we will lose to city meaning we go into the everton game with no wins in 9. we have to win if only to create some sense of hope that we might stay up whereas at the moment it all feels pretty bleak. Would be depressing for the season to effectively be over by december how many games is it now since we last won in the PL ? must be twenty plus I think.
  21. that’s a relief On the rare occasions he has played in the last 12 months he’s looked ordinary, slow and a poor touch. Obviously he hasn’t played any football for some time so maybe that’s to be expected but TP showed in twenty minutes he’s a far better prospect than Stewart. Has he had a shot yet ?
  22. If he’s sacked it won’t be because he got us promoted There’s a feeling we were promoted despite Martin and not because of him Thought he did well in the play offs so i’m happy to give him the benefit of the doubt on that but this season has to date been a shit show and if we don’t beat one or both of leicester and everton it could be very grim indeed
  23. Did you watch us last season at Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Hull and Leicester ? There were times when we were tactically naive and overrun. There were also times last season when we were good but against teams who pressed high and attacked at pace we struggled and that’s what we are facing this season and have looked totally out of our depth so far. I don’t think most of us are surprised that playing the way we are with the players we have is producing these results. The reason we did ok last season was we had a bigger wage bill and better players and now this season we don’t and at the moment RM’s approach is not delivering and I cannot see it will. He’s showing himself to be a limited coach who can’t set up a team to defend and if you have an attack as poor as ours then it’s not a good mix
  24. He’s not done anything this season to show me he can keep us up, allowing for the fact it was a tall order anyway. As a coach he’s always had a poor goals against record and now he’s got a below average attack he’s not going to win enough games. The warning signs were there last season - Hull away for example where we were blown away by a high pressing side that attacked with pace and it was key stone cops at the back. Fair enough it’s Arsenal but on Saturday Flynn was overwhelmed in the middle of the park trying to get things moving forward. There was a glimmer when TP came on and see you could see there was a finally a focal point for players to make runs off. God knows if he will play him from the start against Leicester. I find it bizarre that instead of TP he played Stewart from the outset who has looked very ordinary - has he had a shot on target yet for Saints ? Equally there’s no point sacking him unless there is a decent replacement and the record to date has been poor.
