dreadful defending

I thought the random selection tombola would give a start to BBD but instead it was Sulemana i know we are weak up top but the constant tinkering removes any chance of a pattern of play and a understanding developing
-
We are 8 goals behind Wolves in the set pieces goals conceded this season so have some work to do there
-
I expect by March at the current rate of accumulation. If we can sign Bamford in January might be even later
-
he’s a poor coach but he was given a pretty terrible hand in terms of our forward recruitment ( assuming that he didn’t target the shed united strike force)
-
I like Souness as a person and pundit - he seems a decent human being. Would he be a better coach than RM ? Probably

Still feel we will win a second game in the PL this season but can’t see that being on Sunday. Spurs will have too much for us, however I’m not ruling out a goal but we do need to have a shot on target. Spurs are not great so it will be one of those games where we look better and there is a lot of bravery and heart, but we will conspire to lose again through a lack of belief. At St Marys football is more about emotions than tactics and ability. Also thinking the tombola selection machine might give a start to BBD for the first time in a couple of months but who knows. whatever happens it will be an eventful matchday 16

I thought the forward third recruitment in the summer spoke volumes really about ambition was ridiculous to think archer, armstrong, BBD and an injury prone stewart would be a credible strike force
-
No one with any kudos is going to come here at the moment, so lets be realistic. We are bound to be relegated, have one of the worst attacks in the PL in recent memory, one proper CM and a bloated squad that has only a few decent players you might consider PL standard. I’d agree we get rid of RM otherwise it’s going to turn toxic pretty soon and he’s run his course, but you’d be concerned who they would bring in. these are the people who thought that nathan jones was a good fit. At least lampard is otherwise engaged.
-
It will be interesting to see when they sack him and it’s when not if. We are so uncompetitive it’s very possible we won’t win again this year and it will start to get very toxic for all concerned over Xmas and I can’t see him making it through that period. That said I have no faith in any new appointment by SR and I think anyone with an ounce of talent would give us a wide beth as we look like a circus so we will be looking to the Championship again I expect
-
Read an article in an Irish paper last weekend and Bazanu sounds some way off a return so I doubt a loan in January is realistic.
-
Maybe an experienced hand like steve mclaren or tony pulis
-
At the current rate of accumulation we will have 13 points by the end of the season so will fall a little short of the worst ever, total but should be close.
-
What’s not to like… The recruitment has been poor and so the players aren’t great but we are so uncompetitive it’s untrue. We have had teams in the past with ordinary players but I cannot recall another season where we have looked so far out of our depth.
-
I don’t know how much say RM had in the summer transfers but the attack we had today was very poor and when you combine that with ponderous build up we aren’t going to be scoring many. I can’t see any half decent manager taking the job as the club is clearly dysfunctional at the moment and relegation nailed on. I can’t think of another season like this in 40 years of supporting the club. Yes we have had difficult seasons but we are so uncompetitive this season it’s untrue.
-
let’s keep the ball from this freekick
-
according to the bbc we have had 4 shots but none were either on or off target…..
-
we really are a joke of a side
-
we are missing ross stewart - not been the same team since his injury
-
will we have another shot ?

I’m all for not winning football matches and with 2 wins in 28 or so in the PL we are adept at that but I would like to know from the club what the plan is for the next few seasons. It’s great to be a part of this footballing experiment but I’d like to win a game or two along the way. I hear a lot about the players liking this style of football and why wouldn’t they ? It’s a style which likely means you will have been part of one of the worst sides in PL history and who wouldn’t want that on their CV. No doubt we will sell all our decent players at the end of the season and buy Patrick Bamford to join Ross on the injury list ( we miss his goals) so that’s something to look forward to and Baz will be back so that’s another positive. However I can’t help feeling that a couple more wins this season would give us some real momentum for the boys to take into next season, so hopefully Russ and the board recognise it’s not all about playing great football, making defensive gaffs and not scoring many goals - us fans do like the odd win.
-
I think we’ll bounce back from the defeat on Wednesday and continue our improvement securing a 3-1 defeat with a first goal of the season for BBD and only one horrendous gaff at the back Russell martins red and white army……
-
I think that’s a lot to do with why we are so uncompetitive. Without those we would still be struggling given player quality but we’d be in the game so to speak. Giving the ball to players in tight areas under pressure means we make lots of mistakes but that’s a hallmark of the RM approach. Its a pretty depressing state of affairs really if we are intending to persevere with this crap

Another defeat and that was dire but I still remain hopeful of at least one more win this season in the league. First half hour thought we went toe to toe albeit the second goal was a disaster and I see we now top the most goals conceded from total fuck ups stat. Thought it could have been more in the end but Lumley did ok apart from the first and second goals…. Stephens as our Captain sums up the amateurish set up. Sent off for pulling hair ! Been supporting Saints for over 40 years and cannot recall a time when we have been less competitive and as a premier league club we are not at the races. RM at the end in the interview seemed quite serene and relaxed despite the defeat and having now won only 1 game in 14. You’d have thought he would be embarrassed but seemed to be enjoying it. Nothing to be done but wait for relegation to be confirmed and people will presumably stop going soon this season. What a dreadful season. Russell Martins red and white army……

I agree it’s not the result that matters anymore as by my reckoning we have won two games out of the last 27 in the PL. We won’t win tomorrow but am hopeful we will see another win before the season is out and we head back down again. I was reading an article in an Irish paper that Bazanu is still some way off a return so that’s something at least. Russell Martin’s red and white army (repeat)…..
