Fair question. In my view he’s not shown enough to warrant bearing with hiM in the championship in the hope he improves. He doesn’t have great agility, reflexes or positional sense. If he did but made a few howlers then you would persevere but I don’t feel he has shown enough;others may disagree. I wouldn’t want him to be our number 1 next season.

He’s a poor keeper at this level. They both are. We need to look at how to improve a poor team and a decent keeper has to be a priority.
-
Defensively we look awful
-
Keeper should have done better

Yes it’s crazy - one of the main reasons for our demise
-
Can’t really complain at that line up Perhaps sulemana for Walcott
-
Look forward to seeing who has won the who gets to play up front for Southampton this week competition. Am going for a Mara return with adam Armstrong and sulemana for more disjointed rubbish
-
Wasn’t the worst but WH away was so insipid and slow and boring - it was unwatchable at times and just so desperately shit Think I gave up then as I could barely watch it’s scary there have been so many shit games and we are so far off premiership quality it’s unreal.

We have become so uncompetitive in this league; it’s not even close really despite all the 1-0s. The fact that we are still playing Adam Armstrong says it all. I still think we are better than our points total but the constant pissing around and tinkering with the team means there is no cohesiveness, it’s just slow disjointed football. The subs yesterday were a joke and why he didn’t start with Adams is just baffling. Given how uncompetitive we are next season looks a struggle already to me.

Pleased he’s gone without a striker - overrated in the modern game

Not long now to see what the random forward generator spews out this week
-
Maybe we’ve bought a load of crap that are worse than what we had or at least that would seem to be the view of selles. We are a real mess at the moment.
-
Still can’t believe he started with that front four on Thursday night. Has to be one of the weakest attacks we have fielded in living memory. I know we have a very poor squad particularly in the final third but what did he expect playing Adam Armstrong?
-
Not sure what you see to suggest he will be a good keeper. Doesn’t seem to have great reflexes, agility or positional sense. He’s doesn’t make many absolute howlers ( he doesn’t make many notable saves either) but I don’t see loads of potential. Maybe he needs a few years but I wouldnt want him playing next season
-
The forward line tonight said it all. What on earth was he expecting from Adam Armstrong ? I think perhaps somewhere in there is a decent team but successive managers have not managed to find it so perhaps not. But I don’t think the team is set up right with such a gap between the front four and the rest, no width and slow dull possession football. It’s awful. I’ve barely been able to watch since West Ham it’s so turgid (Arsenal aside). You can also factor in the decision to play bazanu all season. I don’t know why he was only dropped last night as again he has not been up to it for some time. The recruitment has been dreadful now for 18 months, Lavia aside. Maybe it was just our time the same way it will be time for Brighton, Wolves etc at some point over the next few years. I have no confidence in the current board to make the right footballing decisions and the next manager makes or breaks us really. God knows who it will be.

At least we are down now - something of a relief really. Last couple of seasons have been terrible and we have ended up with a totally shit team. How can he have played Adam Armstrong again ? What was he expecting to be different ?

Great post - sums it up
-
Has to be one of the worst forward lines we have ever fielded in a first division/premier league game
-
Surman on Solent sounds like he should be in charge spot on
-
No again you have misunderstood. As you say ‘’it is irrelevant’’; present tense. At the point he was taken off we were winning and the three points would have taken us to within a point of safety and therefore the substitution was clearly relevant to whether we would get the three points that would have put us back in the mix. It was a baffling decision.
-
Horse shit and Jesus wept ! We are going down without the win so he should have been kept on anyway and try for the win. Great perspective
-
I don’t think you understand the statistics. They are not saying he’s the worst because he concedes the most goals he’s the worst in terms of shots saved relative to goals conceded. Take a look at Leno at Fulham. He’s faced far more shots but he’s the top of the chart. Ultimately he’s a poor keeper in a poor team but if we are looking at how we can improve then replacing bazanu seems an obvious starting point.
-
Oknhebrh Ok I stand corrected; he’s only statistically the worst keeper in the European top leagues and there might be others outside the European top leagues statistically worse.
-
I accept there might be a keeper somewhere in Europe worse than him at shot stopping (but for the moment at least we play in the Premier League and are comparing him to other keepers in the top European leagues not the Scottish third division or the Albanian conference). That wasn’t really my point. The stats support the general proposition that he doesn’t make enough saves relative to shots faced. He might face more shots than others but if he’s a good keeper that gives him more opportunities to make saves. The stats support what we see week on week. He’s a major reason we are going down and will be a major reason we don’t come back up if we persist next season.

Yes quite a bit. He’s statistically the worst keeper in Europe at shot stopping. The stats were published on here some weeks ago. See below 😉
