  1. to be fair there’s not been much to shout about since january
  2. ‘despise’ seems a strong reaction manji. christ it’s only a fans forum talking about the football. keep it in perspective
  3. yes I was at the game and you almost certainly weren’t as if you had been you would have seen what a shocker he had and it was a relief when he left field. i don’t see how that is contentious, nor why it warrants the childish comments.
  4. hopefully he won’t start one of the worst debuts i’ve seen
  5. maguire looks lost his slow aimless passing at the back would fit well with our current style
  6. The thing about Bazanu is he doesn’t make many absolute howlers. It’s more that you’re left with the impression that he often should have done better and sometimes a lot better. Goals 3 and 5 on Saturday are what I would say are classic examples. Even the first goal you question should he have come and cleared out the ball. Away at Leeds and West Ham last year are another two good examples. I agree on alcaraz who to my mind flatters to deceive and his Argentine heritage buys him some slack. I’d rather have Armstrong in that 8 role on current form.
  7. Bazanu is the sunken cost fallacy in action. The club is not yet prepared to throw in the towel. It will come but takes time. Had he cost £4million we would have moved on by now but £15million is a big hit to take so I think he will be given the entire season unless he totally implodes
  8. I don’t agree. I take the view that it was precisely how we were set up and the system/philosophy that made it so bad. Yes for example Holgate and Mara were dire, bazanu should have saved a couple, but I think anyone who was at the game and who saw it from high up in the stands would say it was a tactical disaster zone. We were cut open so easily it was embarrassing; we were given a lesson by Tony Mowbray.
  9. I also think if you are going to adopt a philosophy that involves playing out from the back and keeping possession in those areas you have to buy players who capable of implementing that strategy and are comfortable on the ball - holgate looked anything but today. Let’s hope the Man City lad does a better job.
  10. The sluggish aimless passing continued today even when we were 2 and 3 behind. We should have been taking the game to them but we just continued to pass it around for passings sake for long periods. I don’t think we have really sorted the CM platform since Romeu left. Sunderland looked a lot more powerful there. Charles has looked decent in the holding role so god knows why he ended up at RB today. I didn’t appreciate we have the second worst goals conceded in the football league
  11. Just got back. Absolutely abysmal and in no particular order : 1. shocking debut from holgate. Self evident why he couldn’t get in a poor Everton team. 2. The slow aimless passing at the back is not providing control and it just allows the opposition to reset. We have to be able to mix it up and move at pace but it so often appeared to be on the edge of calamity. To have some much possession yet to concede 5 goals is proof that it’s not working. 3. Martin should watch the next game from the stands so he can see how easily we are caught out up field when the opposition win back the ball. It was embarrassing as two or three passes and they were through us. Need to play Charles as a holding player. 4. Defensively we were shambolic. I’m hoping that was down to holgate and he won’t play much again but it was amateurish. I didn’t understand why when holgate went off we ended up with Charles at RB, and Manning on the left of centre. 5 Mara was hopeless and contributed nothing. However surely better to play him as CF if you are going to play him as AA is not productive there. 5 Bazanu should have saved a couple but we know his fallibilities and the club have chosen to ignore it for now. However whilst he cost us a couple of goals I put the blame for the defeat squarely on the manager. Totally outthought by Mowbray. 6. Thought KWP was the only one to come out with any credit. We’ve no played 5 and conceded 4 and 5 in two of those so that tells its own story.
  12. You were probably one of the clowns who thought last summer’s activity was a 9/10. let’s see what the squad looks like at close of play tomorrow
  13. I personally think keeping che is more important than KWP or ABK. It allows Armstrong to play as an 8 and gives us some presence up top. Really don’t want Armstrong up front as he’s weak there but has been good as the 8.
  14. All the comments from RM were that he had bought into things. Seems a very odd move so we save a few quid and get a loan fee but lose a 20 Goals plus striker
  15. Yes that’s why I said it would be stupid to have Ballard up front during September. I didn’t say that is what the recruitment team would allow to happen and I don’t think for a moment they would do that. Cut the abuse as well. Theres no reason for people to not post critical comments if that’s how they feel about a situation - contrarian views are a good thing
  16. Stupid more like
  17. Sounds like a SR move. Sell your only credible striker and bring in as his replacement a guy who has had a very serious injury and isn’t able to play for some time. I really hope this isn’t the case.
  18. Fingers crossed 🤞 will have been a great window if we can manage it and get the lad in from Aberdeen
  19. Striker or two, CB, RB assuming KWP leaves, decent back up keeper, CB. flip it round - which of the signings screams ambition bearing on mind the funds realised. there doesn’t appear much desire to invest a significant chunk of that
  20. They are all loan signing and holgate has been poor for Everton
  21. Fair enough but it’s what we do with the proceeds. At the moment there doesn’t seem a great deal of ambition
  22. Seems incredible that having had two years to sort out a decent striker we are still scrambling around for one with less than a week to go and our only real link is someone from Aberdeen
  23. Do we think he might be sold ? My concern is that one of the big boys come sniffing
  24. Do you really believe that ? They own the club so of course they will be involved in signing off on things
