  1. Been supporting Saints since 1982 and this is the worst it's been for me. I don't feel anything when we concede or lose. I don't expect to win. What's it now 9 wins in 80 games, two wins in 38 odd. They are an average bunch of players who have in the main given up and therefore we are looking at 4-0 defeats as par for the course. Blaming the manager seems pointless. I don't think any manager could make a real difference now and this stretches back over 80 games and two seasons so it's far more fundamental than that. You can trace it back to not replacing Romeu or Ings.. I feel sorry for Juric. He took a gamble and it's backfired for him and he's unlikely to ever get another decent job after this and Roma. The fucking worst thing is there are still eleven games left to play.
  2. Seems weird we have gone from the old trafford game to this
  3. Looks like we will lose 4-0 again
  4. These discussions seem pretty futile at the moment Whatever combination we got for it's not going to make any difference really
  5. 'He was initially a winger back in his Shamrock youth days, transitioning into a keeper later into his development'. Quite from breaking the lines article in 2022. Can't copy the link for some reason The transition is proving glacial...
  6. It's all opinions but the first goal was poor ( albeit typical) and the second would have been taken by a dominant keeper, which he isn't. He's played two games for Liege and you wonder how many more will there be. If the club is serious about turning the club then there's a lot of work to be done across the squad but we can't have another season with this guy as number 1.
  7. Another masterclass in the art of goalkeeping
  8. 8-7 to saints with three goals from ryan fraser in injury time to win it
  9. I don't see the return of Edozie or Bazanu as positives. How much did they cost £22million combined ? Laughable really that we got it so wrong. We would be lucky to get half of that back.
  10. 7 wins in 77 PL games since they took over
  11. Can anyone think of a worse starting midfield put out by saints in the PL ?
  12. Didn't Juric say that Bednarek turned down a large offer during January, so someone must rate him ( assuming it's true) ? THB has been a disappointment and appears a bit overweight to me and at times it looks like hes running through treacle. Like a lot of the squad he's struggled with the pace and power in the PL
  13. He's obviously a poor keeper at this level, but he did make a decent save against WBA away last season that was important at the time. Apart from the Preston game that's has already been referenced, I can't recall another. As someone said the best chance of getting rid is for RM to get a championship club and you'd think he'd be keen to take Bazanu and hopefully some of the other crap we have accumulated.
  14. You could only really blame him for the second goal, but from the highlights looked like his typical saints performance where he makes a cock up, is bulled when coming off his line ( which is rare) and he doesn't make a notable save. After the season we have had then it doesn't seem fair on any of us to have to put him with him again next season.

We have never properly replaced Romeu or Ings for that matter and they left several years ago. Its a toss up between what is the most dysfunctional; our midfield or attack. We just haven't matched up with the pace and power in the PL

McCarthy had a good set of games in the Play-offs in what were tight matches. Baz has always struggled so it doesn't seem unreasonable to conclude that if Baz had been playing we would likely not have been promoted. We will never know. No doubt it will be mandated by the clowns running the club that he will be No 1 again next year so we can look forward to more of the Baz debate and questions such as is he totally shit or with a better defence would he make more saves low down to his left ? Can't wait.
  17. It can always get worse albeit in the context of this season feels like there's not much more to say

I think the need to be 'clever' is because the players are so shit. It was a failing of RM and whoever the manager he seeks to make up for the shortcomings of the squad by trying to be innovative and it just makes it worse I imagine if Juric had a couple of decent forwards and CMs he would play them in their conventional positions, but he doesn't.

We've won what 2 PL games in 37 and in that time we've had 5 managers. Theres come a point when you have to look elsewhere. I don't know whether Juric is a decent manager. He's got a fucking shit squad and was given nothing extra in the transfer window ( which was a good thing) but I just don't see how we can make any informed decision on his abilities this season in the circumstances. What do people expect ? Whoever we brought in would have struggled to get a tune out of our midfield and attacking options and today highlighted how poor a side we are. It's another loss today in a horrific season and we just need it to end as there's no fun in this.
  20. Seems a bit odd that having recruited a championship strike force to play in the PL we might well lose a couple of key components in BBD and Armstrong for the championship but they may return of course. Personally I think if they do and we make a couple of decent signings and buy a decent keeper to replace ramsdale we could do well. Importantly we also avoided a splurge in the last window.
  21. Summer2024 for me - the forward recruitment was lamentable and it seemed obvious to anyone with any football nouse that a forward line of BBD, Archer, TP, Armstrong and a crocked Ross Stewart was totally inadequate for the PL. Fuck knows who singed off on all that but it was completely negligent and effectively meant we were down before we started. I don't know what they were thinking but it's symptomatic of the way the club has been run in the past few years with poor recruitment save for the odd exception. What's the strike rate - one decent player in every 5 ? I seem to recall we only scored one or maybe two in our principal pre-season games and that forward line allied to the painfully slow build up play was a total car crash.

I think he's doing ok bearing in mind the squad is crap. The football is less soporific and frankly after the total dog shit managers we have had to endure over the past few years to have someone who is competent and not self obsessed is a welcome change.
  23. Suspect we will start the season next year without AA, archer or BBD and which would have been a fantastic championship strikeforce, yet totally inadequate for the PL.
  24. so looks like we will all be back down in the championship again next season not great for the health of the game

I think many things screwed us but the forward recruitment in the Summer is near top of the list. Absolutely abysmal and showed how dysfunctional the recruitment team is and was. At least Juric seems better able to play players to their strengths even if those are relatively poor in comparison to other in the PL.
