  13. Hi, On August 13th I will be attempting to walk the Borem Deathmarch, which is 100km in under 24 hours. I hope to raise as much money as possible for the charity Myeloma UK (http://www.myeloma.org.uk/Page.aspx?pid=420) The reason why I have chosen this charity is because about 2 months ago my Dad was diagnosed with Myeloma (bone marrow cancer). He is about to undergo a bone marrow and stem cell transplant which will hopefully get him on the road to recovery. Once he eventually gets out of hospital his immune system will be shot to pieces, and as a result, he won’t be able to attend a single game this season (he's a massive saints fan and has been going to The Dell / SMS for the last 55 years...) Obviously, our main concern is for him to get better, but the prospect of missing one of best seasons ever is not helping his morale. I hope to raise as much money as possible for Myeloma UK and to try and put a smile on his face. I appreciate that times are hard, but every donation counts. You can donate via the following link http://www.justgiving.com/borem2010 Many thanks.... Matt PS: Mods, I would be very grateful if this was a sticky for a few weeks, thanks

  16. I had a family over from Kenya a few years back, they came form a small village just outside Nairobi and had no running water, electricity etc. I took the two kids to a game at SMS, you should have seen their faces when they walked in to a stadium with 30k people inside it. I think its the most amount of people either of them had seen in their lives.... It was a lovely warm, sunny day. I was sweating in shorts and t-shirt, they both had big winter coats on and woolly hats !!!!!!

  18. Shouldn't this be on TMS. Are you seriously unable to work out how to put a tent up !!! Having looked at this picture (http://www.comparestoreprices.co.uk/images/li/lichfield-arapaho-6-vis-a-vis-tent.jpg) I would guess at the following.... - Lay outer tent flat out on the ground, trying to get it to resemble something like what it should when erected. - Feed all four poles through the sleeves on the outside of the tent, remember 2 poles cross over each other, and the other 2 form the porch at each end. - The 2 poles that have been crossed over have to be erected first...so, fix the pole ends into the pole grommets at each corner of the tent, the poles should form an arch and stand up. You will probably need more than one set of hands to do this. and will need to "wrestle" with it to get it into the arched shape. - Now do the same for each porch pole. - With the help of someone else, you should be able to move the tent around freely to make sure its positioned in the correct place. - Peg down the tent in each corner (dont put all pegs in as you may need to readjust them) maintaining the tents integrity, and keeping the tent taught. - Get the inner tents and peg them to the inside of the outer tent - You may need to make some alterations to the pegs etc at this point to make sure its stable etc. - Peg out the rest of the tent. - Peg out the guide ropes, you probably dont need to peg them all out unless you are either up Everest or its particularly windy. - Get the woman to get the stuff out of the car and in the tent whilst you cook meat.
