Things you will miss - things you are not looking forward to...
lethallee replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Miss: Winning week in week out (pretty much) Look forward to: Less Tuesday night games Visiting Emirates, Old Trafford Etc.. Sell outs for most home games Smashing record transfer fee paid for Rory Delap (hopefully!!) Pro Evo 2013 to include Southampton (Sorry not made transition to FIFA!!) -
11 against 11 we should beat Coventry. With 12 against 11 we should destroy Coventry!!
-
Unfortunatley I can only see a West Ham win tonight and a comfortable one at that. Leicester 0 West Ham 3 Therefore we will need to win against Cov to guarantee promotion. Pressure will be on but to be honest if we can't beat Cov at home then we don't deserve 2nd place.

Based on the club's progress so far under NC, perhaps in a few seasons time we may have the opportunity to sample the standing terrace at the Allianz Arena (Home of Bayern Munich) Now that would be awesome.
-
Ultimately the best team will be the team who wins the title. the best team will be determined by next weekend simple as that.

Good work rate, Good skills but needs to be more consistant with his decision making, shooting and final pass.

The difference between the two teams last night was that Reading kept it simple but had end product whereas we were complete opposite. I think we over complicate our play due to lack of pace in wide areas and up front. De Ridder was a threat but i don't think we gave him the ball quick enough to allow him to go one on one with fullback. Passing became very laboured in 2nd half with Lallana quiet. Our crossing was very ineffective with very few crosses coming from byeline and instead being floated in from deeper postitions which was easy for reading to deal with. Kebe's cross for their first goal is the type of cross Lambert and Sharp would thrive on. I thought Cork and Hammond had good control of midfield up until our goal then De Ridder come on and reading made tactically switch at which point we gave them more possession in middle of park. Fonte didn't cover himself in glory for any of their goals and wasn't strong enough against Roberts. Felt sorry for Jos as he had good game except for the chance in 1st half where he should of scored. I thought the pitch looked great but noticed the ball was not zipping about which may of been a factor in our laboured passing. Still 3 games to go and a lot can still happen but really think we need at least 7 points from remaining games. The positive is that our fate still in our hands. COYR

Adkins has just emphasised how great our support was today and the impact it had on team. Likewise, jeering players also has an impact but obviously in a more negative way. It is not helping the particular individuals or team by doing this. My point is that we now have 4 games to go with destiny in our own hands so lets get behind the team and all the players including Guly. We can help push the team over that line.
-
Chaplow is not a defensive midfielder.
-
Guly was probably was one of our better players yesterday. He is not lazy at all in fact he worked really hard yesterday. Some of the fouls he gave away yesterday were because he was tracking back to cover our midfield players who were caught out of position. Yes he should of scored at start of game but imo we would of been even more toothless attacking wise without him.
-
As they proved at SMS earlier in season Blackpool always carry a goal threat but defensively they are poor. Has makings for a really entertaining game and very difficult to predict what way it will go. Our fullbacks will have to be on top of their games to minimise threat of Blackpool wingers. Assuming Blackpool still play 4-3-3 formation, perhaps Nige will start with morgan, Cork and Hammond to allow us to get hold of possession in midfield. Lallana in free role behind Lambert and Sharp. Blackpool 1 Saints 2

Poor 1st half better teams than Barnsley would of punished us. More often than not we ignored Lee's runs down channels. When he did eventually receive the ball he was caught offiside unnecessarily. 2nd Half much better especially after Lambert went off and Cork came on. Fox and Morgan were our best players today over the 90 minutes.
-
The abuse Guly received today was totally unjust. The 2 idiots behind me in Block 29 Row EE were slating Guly everytime he had the ball and even when he was layed out on deck after being whacked in face they were telling him to get up. When Lallana and Lambert made mistakes, which happended regularly in first half, it was oh Adam or oh Rickie. These so called supporters were a total disgrace and bloody annoying to sit near. In my opinion Guly was ok first half whilst many others were poor. He had good second half seeing lots of the ball.
-
I think we will go Chaplow left, Guly Right with Lee and Lambert continuing up front. Lallana on bench with possibly de Riddler. Ipswich have been very unpredictable this season but based on their recent form i suspect this could be a very tough game. We have struggled against teams who press us high up pitch. Be interesting to see what tactics they employ. 3-2 Saints
-
Home form is a massive worry. Does not help we are starting games poorly at moment with Adkins not getting tactics right from first whistle. Low confidence, unsettled starting eleven and wrong tactics = Poor perfromances and results.
-
Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Chaplow Hammond/Morgan Puncheon Lallana Lambert Sharp
-
this barnard works channels well which has been missed in some games this season
-
I personally think we will still end up selling puncheon at some point in the near future. Bit cinical perhaps but I think the supposed clear the air talks and reinstating him to first team squad means Cortese has more chance getting the 1 million fee he wants.
-
When teams really press us and take control in midfield area we really do struggle. For me the lack of drive and intensity from central midfield is a problem which has gradually dogged us as the season has worn on. We don't have that element of the unknown about us like we did at the start of the season with opponents now more clued up on our tactics. Morgan, hammond and Cork too similar for my liking. We do miss Chaplow as he is the one midfielder who has drive and intensity in his locker.
-
Without Lambert we are always going to be more lightweight up front so we have to find another way of playing like we did 2nd half at Coventry. We should always play to the strengths of the players that our available for selection. Many posters have commented how well Lallana and Cons link up so tomorrow would be a great opportunity for that theory to be proven right.
-
Lallana was shocking tonight looked lethargic and was liability giving ball away countless times. May benefit from being dropped to bench for a while. Guly and lambert also poor. we were so predictable offering no variation to attacking play. Bristol city got it tactically spot on and deserved win. de riddler was our most threatening player but his crossing not great.
-
Time for some positive thinking..... 3-0 Saints, Hammond hat trick Simple as that !

We were not at our best but still created fair few chances . well deserved point in end against a good team. hope chaplow back next week and hammond dropped to bench. cork and Morgan looked good partnership. thought cork was very good 2nd half
