Well pleased THB is staying, hopefully we can sign Downes, Fraser and a few more and get rid of all the players out on loan and bring in some good fees. Sammy Smodzics would be good.

Well done Russell Martin for getting us up at the first attempt. I have been very critical of the tippy tappy dross played in some games, but am certainly able to put my hand up and say the manager has got up against the odds and he deserves a lot of praise for that. I have no issue at all with his politics or his decency as a human being either and never have unlike others on here. My only issue has been some of the football we have played over the season.

Well done Hants so far, lets hope the forecast is wrong for the next 2 days.

Southampton 1-0 Leeds - Saints are Promoted!!
Andrew Watson replied to TheAlehouseBrawlers's topic in Golden Posts
The 2 league games we scored 1st,even though they equalised within minutes at Elland Road, have a feeling the 1st goal is all important in this game. Please let it be us. -
Thank god for that desperately needed victory, unlikely to take many points off Surrey. Well done to JF and FM.

Delighted to be proved wrong, well done Saints.

Heart says win, head says we go out. Do we have the bottle when the stakes are so high, I really hope so,but am not so sure. Please prove me wrong my beloved Saints.
-
Must win game already, with Surrey next we really need to win 1 of our first 7 games and this is the best chance.
-
My Plymouth supporting neighbour told me yesterday that Matt Gill our assistant manager is very good friends with some one at Argyle and that we were given 3 days notice to sign Finn Azaz and dithered too long and he went to Boro. Make of that what you will.

Going to be very nervy unless we take control early,we certainly need to create alot more going forward. Too close to call, their away record counts for nothing in the play offs.
-
The sad thing is - The Cat,when you are approaching 70 like Dark Munster and myself you become very cynical. We have both supported the club for over 60 years and have seen an awful lot of lows in that time,as well as some highs I might add. With this manager who knows what team and formation he will pick next weekend at - The Hawthorns and that is a real worry
-
If we had KM in charge we would have gone up. What a response to the Coventry equaliser as well,if that had been Saints they would probably gone 2-1 down instead of 2-1 up. Ipswich are not the second best side on paper, but will deserve to go up if they get the right result on saturday, they have lost only 6 games and fight for the whole 90 plus minutes, well done to them.

Another 4 day no show at - The Oval, this could be a season to forget in 4 day cricket and there I was thinking of a 5th place finish. Rory Burns showed by gutsing it out as an opener that it is possible to put a decent score on the board,do not think it helps that are openers are just 22 and 23 respectively.

Mid table Championship mediocrity awaits next year
Andrew Watson replied to Andrew Watson's topic in The Saints
The club has been on a downward trajectory for a few years now, I never thought that I would see our beloved club so far behind Bournemouth in my life time, they have invested very well in a good squad,as for us. -
As the club has wasted circa 13 million pounds laying off the last two managers,we could be stuck with this manager for at least another season. What a sobering thought to look forward to,more dross tippy tappy possession football, all this seasons best players gone [ THB,KWP,FD,RF ] and next to no money to get better players in for next season. Had the club got Sean Dyche in instead of the awful Welsh manager we would probably still be in the Premier league, what an absolute shambles of a club who now rank a very miserable third on the South Coast. Totally pissed off fan of 61 years.

Leeds will do the same to us at Elland Road and we are not getting out of this league for years. For the record we got the double over this lot last year.
-
Totally irrelevant after yesterdays pathetic result and second half performance,at least when we lose it will not be as hard to take , Lose 3 - 1. No chance in the play offs either, but have thought that for weeks.
-
If Adams and Armstrong could finish they should both be close to 30 goals each,as for Martin do not have the words. Beyond angry but not surprised, they really are a bunch of over paid, spineless pussy cats.
-
I thought 5th at start of season, the bowling looks a real worry though. I think we might regret giving Abbot this year and maybe Abbas as well,KA has been a magnificent signing, but at 36,playing 4 day cricket as a strike bowler is a very tough ask. I would be delighted to be proved wrong of course.
-
Watford had nothing to play for and were very unlucky to get nothing from yesterdays game, if we cannot put games to bed it does not augur well for the last 5 games and the play offs.
-
It could now possibly be Norwich in play offs.
Andrew Watson replied to Andrew Watson's topic in The Saints
Two porous defences against 2 high scoring forward lines, could be a very interesting 2 games in store with plenty of goals. 5 goals each in the 2 drawn league games. -
As crazy as it might have sounded a month or two ago, there is every chance this scenario playing out. A different proposition to WBA and possibly a much harder one, they are the form team since the new year,we could expect a much harder game than we had there on new years day, where we dominated and threw away 2 points.
-
His not knowing his best side and playing Stephens and Manning and not changing Bazunu [ probably because we do not have another decent keeper ] has cost us automatic promotion. The best thing he has done in his time here, was refusing to meet our horrendous PM,who belongs to an equally hideous party.

In total agreement with Coalman,Adams is not an instinctive finisher as I and many others on here have said. Chez and Gio1saints are perfectly entitled to their opinions which is what a forum is for,a very good friend of mine who played a decent standard in the seventies and eighties says Adams is one of the worst finishers he has ever seen, his overall Saints average is under 1 goal every 4 games. Hardly a world beater but everyone to there own.

Appear to be playing for Cleverly, some thing they were very reluctant to do for Ismael. Must win and very winnable if we approach the game in thr right way and play the right side.
