  1. The problem is there’s nowhere else to build one, we have absolutely awful public transport to the outer suburbs which would have land available or existing infrastructure. There’s no way they will touch Suncorp. It’s a brilliant stadium though. you won’t be seeing it in international cricket anytime soon given it’s ‘current state’ anyway unfortunately
  2. There’s a lot of resentment here for a few reason, a lot to do with general distrust of state and federal governments. We won the bid and our state leader flew to Japan to celebrate while the state was locked down due to covid, we’re currently going through a bad housing crisis whilst receiving way more immigration than we can handle, most of the parks around the city have homeless people living in tents which would’ve been unheard of 10 years ago and nothings really done about it. cost of living is through the roof. So spending upwards of 8 billion on the olympics seems a bit off. plus Queensland government has a track record of building fairly poor infrastructure that goes wayyyyyy over budget so a lot of people don’t really trust them to get this right.
  3. Also do you think English fans have a different mindset about it than other countries and we are just more American as in everything has to be big brand new and shiny?
  4. So my fine city of brisbane is hosting the Olympics in 2032, the main debate is why we would even want to host considering the cost but the second raging debate going on is what to do with the stadium The Gabba, knock down and rebuild or refurbish? It had major renovations done in 2005 about one hundered and sixty million (site has been around since late 1800’s) and people are saying it’s at ‘end of life’ in 2030 so knock it down, I do not know what end of life means in that context and no one can tell me, will it just fall down on its own? Who knows. it’s been called the worst major stadium in Australia and has lost the rights to international cricket. SO my question to the brains trust is this, considering it’s Reno makes it a bit younger than our Saint Marys (although that was built brand new) and considerably younger than most English football grounds who haven’t had any major work done for years what is your opinion on the state of our stadium and stadia around the country? I have been to st Mary’s as a young lad so I don’t remember much but I’ve been to the Gabba recently and it seemed fine, if you’ve been to the Gabba and could compare to English stadiums that would be great too.
  5. Not too fussed really, I do like a good cup run but this seasons probably not the best time for it. Just for the sake of embarrassment I would’ve rather it was at least a team in the same league as us. i couldn’t watch but glad to hear the kids did well. Can’t remember any of the lot last year lighting things up in their brief appearances.
  6. Does anyone else feel awfully bad for Bree? He was by all accounts a important part of that Luton side heading for promotion and joined a team going the opposite way. sure he got a good pay rise and 2(?) games of premier league footy but hasn’t even been in the squad since, feel like Jones royally fucked him.
  7. Yeah looks the way I’m going. I’ve been trying to find this out though, do you get every game? Talked to a guy on Facebook and he said aus would only get about 15 saints games and a kiwi on reddit said NZ gets every game but I can’t find anything out for sure. wondering if it’s worth getting a VPN so I can become an honorary kiwi.
  8. 30o plus bucks for australia and I won’t even get all the games plus it doesn’t seem like they will play replays (not sure about this though) so I’ll have to get up and God awful hours. No thanks.
  9. Calling it now, Edozie is going to be very important this year as will tella (if we keep him) im actually pretty comfy with AA up front too, if we get rid of adams and bring someone else in I think we will do fine.
  10. I remember that coming out it was huge in Australia and gave me the proud opportunity to announce I’m from there any time it came on.
  11. Edozie clearly showed talent in his stints just lacked the finishing touch, which our whole squad did tbf so I’m not going to judge him on that shit season.
  12. Oh god I just remembered I had to have emergency surgery when I was a nipper in Portsmouth (queen mary???) so I technically owe my life to our fishy friends.
  13. To be fair he was our fourth best defender in the prem. I think he’d do well in the champ. im picking lyanco anyway just because he’s the only player that made me smile watching saints last season.
  14. I had a dream about the away kit, it kinda looked like this Chelsea kit but with thicker solid white lines on the sleeves and neck and faint different coloured blue lines on the main body. if I’m right someone owes me a 50
  15. From fordingbridge originally but my old man and his family all lived in Southampton, I suppose technically it’s a bit closer to bournmouth so I might switch teams found out that my mums dad(never met him and mum moved down south when she was a baby) was from South Sheilds in Newcastle so I’ll be doing a bit of glory hunting this year.
