This is a fantastic result......good teams win even when playing badly..........away from home, a goal behind, a comeback like this takes character and resilience....great to see us scoring late in the day for a change....am really encouraged by this result.....COYR!!!!

anyone got a radio link?
-
proud, but still feel we threw it away...we had enough chances to finish that off and two mistakes gifted them the game.....
-
no, the chances were ours for the taking, we could've won this...

4 minutes.....COYR!!!!!

****ing typical...every 50/50 going their way....foul on lambert on edge of area not given by bottling official who doesn;t want to upset a premiershiup team....****

Oldham V Saints - Post Match Celebration Thread

I think, as someone on here commented earlier, their possession stats were badly affected by all the time they spent picking the ball out of their own net ;o) -
Oldham V Saints - Post Match Celebration Thread
Viking Saint replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
As a Bitterne lad in exile in the frozen wastes of Lancashire for the last 10 years, this was the first time I'd got to see the boys twice in a fortnight, having been at the Huddersfield game at home in December. Got home a few hours ago and have been grinning like a Cheshire cat ever since. We really were a class above tonight. Looking at the forum earlier, there were a lot of people saying they'd take a draw away at Oldham as it's a tough place to get a result. If that's the case, no one told the players. We looked confident and sharp and could've had more. Admitedly, the first goal via a handball from Rickie that we were probably in the best position to see and their keeper had a howler for the second. It would've been interesting to see what would have happened if they'd scored instead of hitting the post when we were 2-0 up early in the second half. Davis had pretty much nowt to do but did it all the same, fullbacks were fine, Jaidi was rocksolid and Fonte was class, he never looks like getting beaten in the air. Chaplow was his usual, industrious, aggressive and got round the pitch. Chamberlain and Lallana were what we've come to expect from them, too quick and skilled on the ball for the Oldham players. Schneiderlin really got stuck in tonight and made some hefty challenges - it was interesting that there was discussion about his future at the club on here earlier...he is, without question, the player we have with the greatest vision and tonight he showed that he can mix it physically with League 1 level players. I believe we should do everything we can to keep him. Upfront was interesting. Guly can do great things and then blaze a shot 40 yeards wide...Rickie looks fitter and more energetic but should he really be coming as wide as he is? If he's being told to stay in the areas where he was moving to to pick up the ball tonight, we don't have a predator around the 6 yard box as Guly isn't quick enough....it sounds daft after we've rolled a team over 6-0 away but the striking situation needs looking at... The support tonight, for a Tuesday night away game at Oldham was fantastic.....NA made a point of directing the players over to the fans after the game...I hung around for a while afterwards and ended up talking to the Oldham groundsman, who said our fans were fantastic and that he hasn't seen a better team all season and if we don't win the league, something is seriously wrong....not bad to hear ...and Ferguson was there tonight but left after 70 minutes......right, more beer to drink, thanks for a great night....COYR!!!!! -
Saints vs Manchester Utd - 4th Round FA Cup Draw
Viking Saint replied to saint_bert's topic in The Saints
nobody will expect us to win this so the pressure is off and we can go out and just play football.....I just hope that unlike two years ago, we don't get overawed and turn in a feeble performance....I would've liked a good cup run but this is a win-win situation for us....nothing to lose COYR!!!! -
Get in!!!!!
-
d*ckheads....the lad always gave his absolute best for us
-
bit of an odd side, given that a lot of pundits are looking to us for an upset.....
-
fantastic news, and a real statement of intent....agree that it's the best signing we could've made!!! Happy Days!!
-
think you've hit the nail on the head there.....he got to the point where he looked scared of having a shot and screwing it up....he squared one to Lallana he could've buried himself and I think Barnard would've scored 2-3 of the chances he didn't take in the first half...that said, there was some brave last-ditch defending from the opposition defence.....Guly looked better in the second half when he dropped a bit deeper...in today's programme, he mentions that he sees himself as an attacking midfielder.....it also mentions the difficulties he's having with the language....does he perhaps not understand what NA is asking him to do.....did anyone else notice that he had his shirt off and was straight down the tunnel whilst the other players were applauding the fans after the game....think the crowd reaction might've gotten to him a bit....shame as he's got some potential....
-
I felt it got to the point where he was scared of having a shot and was laying the ball off instead....he squared one to Lallana when he could've buried it himself.....he looked better in the second half when he dropped a bit deeper....AOC, Lallana and Jaidi all ticked the boxes for me today, though Jaidi's legs are looking a little slow....still a bloody good day out though!

agree entirely...Premiership side at home, and they'll probably field a reserve-ish side as they have two important league games either side of us...this is a good chance to progress....game on
