Three Reform UK councillors at Durham County Council have resigned from the party. The resignations come after a Sky News investigation into chaos and allegations of bullying at the council. Councillors Lyndsey Fox and Paul Sexton have resigned from the party and Sky News understands a third councillor, who does not want to be named, has also left the party. This takes Reform closer to losing their majority at the council, after winning 65 of the 98 seats in Durham just over a year ago. Some councillors have also joined the party. Ms Fox told Sky's Cathy Newman that she resigned because she has "heard nothing" back from the party's leadership since raising a "serious safeguarding issue" in July. She says others still in the party are "very, very upset and unhappy" but will not inform the party's leaders at the council because they are "terrified". 16 Reform councillors have left the party for various reasons since the local elections in May 2025. In the investigation, Sky News spoke to five councillors who had left the party.
