  1. I think he is rubbish as well. IMO He only has one point to make in any match and he repeats it 20 or 30 times, e.g. last year at Charlton when Alex & Adam both went off injuried he repeated 20 or 30 times about getting puncheon back. He current point is about "lack of width" which he repeats 20 or 30 times a game, meanwhile in the background you can hear that something is happening because of the crowd noise but he is going on and on and on about his "one point" and ignores the action. If I remember correctly when he was in charge (95/96) we were very limited in our team setup. A Fixed 4-4-2 system with every player restricted to his own area of the pitch. A quote from Duncan book (page 244) after the "grey shirts" victory over manure in the 4th game from the end of the season. So with his "super tactics" (sic), how is it possible for a player like Matty to take 34 games before he scores from open play ?
  2. The Football League rules are in Section 12.3. The important bit for the Cheats is 12.3.2 and the League view of the £10.8m loan to purchase the players in the summer. http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20110629/section-3-the-league_2293633_2125717 . So it 10 points for going into Administration. The figures of -17 and -20 are when the Club rejoins the League via the "exceptional circumstances" rule because they have been unable to agree a CVA. For example Rotherham case http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20080806/fl-board-statement_2293334_1359838 or Bournemouth http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20080807/league-make-bournemouth-offer_2293334_1360692 or Luton Luton in Admin -> 10 points http://www.football-league.co.uk/latestnews/20071122/luton-town-in-administration_2293301_1173766 Luton exit Admin -> 20 points http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20080710/league-board-considers-clubs-in-administration_2293334_1353487
  3. IMO I don't think Dickson will play another game for us as it will cost us at least £25k (poss up to £30k with the 20% clause), and that money would be better spent elsewhere. He has made 29 appearances for us and there is another payment to Brentford at 30. http://www.football-league.co.uk/footballleaguenews/20100803/dickson-compensation-fee-set_2293334_2109797
  4. If I remember correctly that was the GK that Arry when out to the far east to watch when he was Director of Football at the Skates. I don't think he made a save in the whole game as his team won by a big score. Next thing they sign him and it ends up with the then manager (cannot remember his name) getting the push shortly afterwards and Arry taking over as Manager and promptly getting rid of the GK.
  5. And when the Football League have their board meeting before then, armed with the report from BDO Stoy Hayward about the £10.8M loan used to buy various players (halford, varney, pearce, huseklepp, henderson etc). It will be something like "please don't give us the 10pts penalty we deserve because it will scare off the new owner (sorry front man for chinny)." The question is, Are the Football authorities so simple to be taken in again and again and again ?
  6. The Football League site says he was on 3 bookings before today in league + cup games. http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Discipline/0,,10794~201110433~7,00.html As posted above the BBC Stats page says it is 4, however if you go though their results I can only find 3. He was booked against :- (1) Sunderland LC in 54 min; (2) Liverpool LC in 39 min and (3) Us 65 min. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/brighton/results/default.stm
  7. I'm not sure how important this is but when it was announced that Baker Tilly were going to be the liquidators of "oldco", their own web site said that 2 liquidators would be David Hudson + Geoff Carton-Kelly. http://www.bakertilly.co.uk/media/news/Pages/Baker-Tilly-appointed-liquidators-to-Portsmouth-City-FC.aspx A few days ago (19 Dec) it was announced that David Hudson was leaving Baker Tilly http://www.accountancyage.com/aa/news/2133647/david-hudson-leaves-baker-tilly IMO This seems a strange change of career path while he is still working on a high profile case ?
  8. Said a man who's team originally played in PINK shirts (1898-1907). http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Portsmouth/Portsmouth.htm I wonder if your club manages to last to it's next anniversary whether there will be special shirt in the original colours. All those "pink phew" walking around fratton in their anniversary shirts, imo there will be coach loads arriving from east sussex every week which might just get your gates over 11,261 (15 Oct). p.s. reading that web site I knew about Royal Artillery FC had been thrown out in 1998 for financial cheating but the events of 1911 "a severe financial crisis struck and the club was wound up after suffering relegation to the Southern League Second Division." was news to me. Perhaps your club should be marking the 100 years some how............ like being wound up again.
  9. Great picture. Guly is stoping the corner coming into the near post, but as soon as the corner is hit deep his job is to get back on the post to cover the looping header. Jose correctly shields his player out of the action when the ball is headed back. As you say it is Adam job to pick the other player up when the ball is headed back to the near post. Cork has also lost his player as well at the far post, but because of the sunlight it is hard to say who heads the ball back.
  10. The Football League site also has Painter, LuaLua and Taricco on 4 bookings as well. http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Discipline/0,,10794~201110433~7,00.html
  11. Your article was dated the 8th Dec, however this one dated today says it COULD be before Xmas. http://www.accountancyage.com/aa/news/2132954/football-insolvency-judgement-christmas
  12. I went for a run past St Marys this morning and looked through the gates at the Northam end. I saw 3 GK going through a training exercise, saving shots in a temporary goal on the halfway line by the Kingsland Stand. My first thought was, is this Kelvin or Bart getting some extra practice in, but to my horror I could only see 3 youth team GKs being given a work out. By the time I got to the Chapel end I looked through those gates and could see the rest of Dodd's Youth Team training on the pitch before tomorrow game. Panic over.
  13. The Football League rules have a section for Emergency Loan of Goalkeepers (Section 54), they are allowed to be signed outside the "loan window" under strict conditions. http://www.football-league.co.uk/regulations/20110629/section-6-players_2293633_2125731#52
  14. And the FL web site says they have SIX players on 4 bookings (varney, ben-haim, norris, halford, ward and lawrence) and burnley have 2 Saints supporters playing for them.
  15. He probably doesn't want to mention those days because the original football club from that hole namely "Royal Artillery (Portsmouth) Football Club" were thrown out of competitive football by the FA in 1897/98 because of cheating (something to do with forfeiting their amateur status). Same old genes always trying to cheat at football.
  16. And the men and woman making the decision are listed here http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/BoardProfilesIndex/0,,10794~1356443,00.html It is interesting that 5 of the 8 are linked to Championship Clubs. (Glick (Derby); Harvey (Leeds); Lamb (Boro); Ritchie (ex director at WHU) and Clarke (ex leicester director)). I cannot see those 5 voting for liquidation because Lamb & Clarke "teams" will lose 1 point, and the other 3 will lose 3 pts for their teams. I expect they will "fudge" the decision of Thursday and ask some 3rd party to look at the accounts since they last came out of Admin and to explain the £10.5m from CSI that was spent on players. ( http://www.football-league.co.uk/championship/news/20101024/pompey-exit-administration_2293322_2193579 ) dated 24 Oct. There is a wonderful quote in that article IMO the "increased financial reporting" should have told them about the £10.5m from CSI so there should be no need for a 3rd part to look at the Accounts.
  17. At the start of the season I was only expecting to be in the top 6 at this stage of the season. We have played above ourselves so far and to be top and 7 points (poss 5) clear of 3rd is a excellent effect from everyone (players, manager, fans, ceo etc). This league is very competitive and I thought at the start there were 15 sides who had a chance of promotion, so ALL SIDES are going to lose some games this season that they expect to win. I can remember last season when we went to walsall (0-1) and rochdale (0-2) we had problems breaking down teams that put up mass defensives and clogged up the central midfield area against us, it is the same this season.
  18. Thanks for that.
  19. Back on the 23 Nov I posted a link to the company (Field Fisher Waterhouse) that advised CSI on the purchase http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?14620-Pompey-Takeover-Saga&p=1192337#post1192337 In the post was a link to the Field Fisher Waterhouse's Press Release http://www.ffw.com/press-releases/20...smouth-fc.aspx However, that press release has now been removed from their site and you now get a 404 (Google seach "field fisher waterhouse portsmouth csi" shows there was a press release but it has been removed). I wish I had copied the whole article and not just 2 paragraphs.
  20. The Football Creditors Rule was due to be in the High Court today if this article is to be believed http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2011/11/14/hmrc-turns-coy-on-football’s-tax-debts-as-‘creditor’s-rule’-case-looms-141101/ but I cannot find it in the listings for today (http://www.justice.gov.uk/guidance/courts-and-tribunals/courts/hearing-lists/list-cause-rcj.htm ). The only other days I had are 16 Dec Antonov (City of Westminster) ; 16 Dec for Murphy and the TV deal (High Court); and of course Henry for Jan 23 (Southwark Crown Court)
  21. I don't know whether this is 100% or not but the BBC stats for the Cheats says they have 6 players on 4 bookings, (namely Lawrence, Varney, Ben-Hain, Halford, Norris and Ward), i.e. 1 booking away from a ban. They have 2 games before ours and imo it would be nice for a strong Ref at Burnley. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/club_stats/default.stm
  22. That a BIG problem I have with Dave, he gets ONE thing in his mind and repeats it every few mins. For example last year at Charlton we had both Adam & Alex taken off injured and Dave went ON and ON and ON about getting Jason back from his loan (it wasn't possible because of the terms of the loan), but Dave kept repeating the same thing over and over again. Yesterday he kept going on about bringing on Steve instead of Morgan (after 5 mins). He must have mentioned it at least 20 times yesterday and has since been repeated by a few on here as "the reason" for the defeat. The balanced view from him should have been to say that it would have left us OUTNUMBERED in central midfield by 3-2 and if we lost the central midfield battle it could had been a bigger defeat. (I can remember back in AP days where we played with 2 wide players and only 2 CENTRAL midfield players we had lots of problems playing against sides like swindon because they used to pack the central midfield with 3 players, from memory our results were 0-1, 0-3 and (DW manager) 0-3, 0-1 before Nigel came in and COMPETED for central midfield against sides like that). imo Dave has a big problem sometimes because he only has ONE IDEA and there are often another view point to his against his argument, but it never gets mentioned.
  23. Both played in the pre-season friendly at St Marys http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2403609,00.html In fact it was Mattock who made 2 very bad tackles on AOC, one 2 footed and the second very late from behind on his ankle that caused him to go off. From memory Steve replaced AOC and caused Mattocks alot of problems in the 2nd half by "playing close to him and then spinning off" down the wing.
  24. Perhaps somebody that uses Twitter should ask Daniel Geey what he thinks about the 2 Banks ? http://twitter.com/#!/footballlaw He is a leading lawyer and advise entities in the football industry on regulatory and broadcasting matters. He writes various articles on Football and the Law because (quote) "keen interest in sports law and have experience in advising on Premier League, Football League and UEFA rule compliance and Premier League broadcasting issues". Why I mention his name is because because he is an associate at Field Fisher Waterhouse and "gives guidance on the Fit and Proper Person Test" http://www.ffw.com/people/search-all/g/daniel-geey.aspx He was also part of the team at FFW who advised CSI on the purchase of a certain team http://www.ffw.com/press-releases/2011/jun/acquisition-of-portsmouth-fc.aspx
