Michael Owen compares Saints to his Racing stable
WealdSaint replied to rickylambert's topic in The Saints
I think Burnley might be a bit miffed at JRod. They did much of the early work on him. -
Why so many rumours about our best players leaving?
WealdSaint replied to jasoneuelllfanclub's topic in The Saints
I think that the bigger clubs, together with many other people in football, view us as smallish Prem club and that therefore all our talented players are ripe for the picking. To date this has probably been correct. This is quite an important time because if we hold this squad together over the summer we can move on to the next stage. However, if we sell more than a couple, we will forever be viewed as a club that finds good youngsters that the big boys can buy at their time of choosing -
Manager reaction - Southampton 4-2 Norwich Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "We were leading the game 3-0 and had it in control but we suffered a bit at the end. "In football nothing is finished until the final whistle. We lacked focus at the back and you can't take anything for granted in the Premier League. We were far superior to Norwich throughout the game and we were playing against a very good team."
-
Phewwwwww What a game. A buttock clenching finish after it all looked so easy. Even 4-2 flattered Norwich, who were truly terrible.
-
I would be gutted if he left. If we are to move forward we need strength in depth.
-
We were fortunate to have him on the bench today. He played well. Strength in depth.

Post Match Reaction: Crystal Palace 0-1 SAINTS

Good solid performance. Not a classic, but we beat a well organised Pulis team. -
A true saints legend He deserves his place at the top of the page with all the rest
-
RL.........made 2 and scored 1. Maybe not the most mobile, but a eye for the pass
-
Dire first half Why bring VW back when Cork is in such a rich vein of form? VW passing is so poor compared to Cork Jrod is at least getting into the right positions. RL has had a quite half but has provided a couple of chances for JRod that didn't come off. AL playing well, but not as influencual as he sometimes is. Boruc is making up for Arsenal away!

Luke Shaw.............what a player, he really came of age tonight

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-0 Yeovil - (FA Cup 4th Round)
WealdSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Finally back after a mare of a journey last night (the wind that blew the guy's hat off also blew trees onto the railway line :-( ) I thought it was a reasonable match. Yeovil, played with a lot of passion and we, on the whole, looked proffessional and set up to win without risking too many injuries -
I like JRod. As far as I know (I'm most definatly NOT ITK) he is a good influence on the team. Even on his off days he tries his heart out. He has become a mutch better player under MoPo. I would think if MoPo stays he will. Which then brings us to will MoPo stay after June!
-
My second trip over from Kent this season with my 15 yr old son. I think a cup run would do the club a power of good, therefore the strongest squad possible from the beginning. If we put out a team of strangers and Yeovil get a sniff then it could all go horribly wrong. If we get comfortably ahead, then give some of the youngsters a run out

Post Match Reaction: Sunderland 2-2 SAINTS
WealdSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
What a rollercoaster. I said to my son after the first 30 mins that we needed to get at least 3 goals in the first half as Sunderland couldn't possibly be this s**t for the whole match. The injuries were the cruelest blow. If Lovern's injury is as bad as it looks Katrina may have to give MoPo the money to g o& get another centre back. Jack Cork, fantastic player -
Analysis: Katharina Liebherr's ascent to the Southampton helm
WealdSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
A good article many thanks for posting -
It is of course possible that NC left because he had a conflict of Interest. Perhaps this frees him to go and talk to some of his banker friends and put together a bid to buy the club of the Liebers?

Cortese has left Southampton Football Club - Officially Confirmed
WealdSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
So the morning after. Well, having a man who wanted total control, yet dosn't own the club, was always likely to go wrong eventually. The manager & players will probably carry on as normal IF they feel the club is still being competantly run. NC has played a huge role in the club, and for that he should have everybodies thanks KL you have a blank sheet of paper. Get Writing! -
Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-0 West Brom
WealdSaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Not a great game, but MoPo bringing on of Gaston was a master stroke Sqeaky bum time last 5 mins. -
Good half. Kelvin looks nice & confident. First 10 minutes was brown trouser time. Chambers having a cracking game. Cole saved Chelsea twice
-
Gaston is a fantastic creative mid fielder. Unfortunatly for hin Adam is even better. But he is creeeping back into the team
-
Klateburg (or however you spell it) usual c**p game. Deserved a point Gaston looked much better today
-
The great thing about our season so far, is that in no match (that I have seen anyway) have we really looked like we were in a much lower class than the opposition. As a long standing (suffering?) saints supporter, it's so great not to have those typical games where we don't turn up and get whipped by 6 or 7 goals.
-
I'm born in 66, so have seen quite a few saints RB's. Whilst Golac was a great player for the club I would rate Clyne the best. I also agree that Chamber's is a fantastic prospect. We are terribly short of a champions league squad in most positions but not RB
