I remember last time we finished 8th in the prem. and we missed the chance to "move up to the next level" partly due to finance & partly a lack of ambition. This time the ambition is in place, the finance is in place. The future is bright the future is Orange (sorry couldn't resist it!)

I have to say that the team played better than I had expected. I've been a big critic of Welbeck, but I thought he played well. Other than the cross, I still can't see what Rooney did. It seems a repeating pattern, the Rooney that plays for Man U never seems to turn up for the world cup finals. I wasn't sure how much we got defensively from Gerrard & Henderson? I'm not sure that Luke would have done any better than Baines over all, as Baines was left defending on his own too much, but I'd have put money on Luke making the tackle when they got the cross in for their second goal. Substitutions were odd, esp Wiltshire when we desperately needed a goal. I thought the whole point of having Rickie in the squad was the impact striker who you throw on in the last 15 minutes when you desperately need a goal

Well, all being well, I look forward to him working with James Ward Prowse on his free kicks shortly

I'll cheer Rickie if he scores because he is still technically a saint til the 1st July, because of his 5 great years with us and because he is a truly nice guy who has had a true modern day fairy tale career. I'll cheer Adam if he scores and hope Liverpool realise that his price has just gone up £5 Million more. If Luke makes or scores then I'll cheer him and dream that he might stay for just one more year

To be honest, this is really old news. We all knew Man Utd had put in a big offer on the last day of the season. We were all pretty certain that Luke & his advisers were, at the very least, interested in the proposals.

I was worried the way we always faded in the 2nd half last season. It was interesting to see that Man U had picked up on that when I watched the Giggs's diary the other night. MoPo got rid of us for reasons we don't know yet. I fear for him at Spuds. I will always hold a soft spot for Nigel Adkins who I view as a true gent, but MoPo is now "just another ex saint manager" to me.

I just noticed from newsnow.co.uk that Saints are suddenly advertising loads of security posts. Either a lot of staff have left or they are increasing numbers in this area Anyone able to shed any light?

If, and it's a big if, Adam is going then it would be madness to sell Gaston. The reason Gaston didn't get the game time was because Adam is a similar player and in the last 2 seasons has been in better form. It's also just possible that Gaston hasn't thrived at Saints so far because he wasn't in MoPo's inner circle (This is solely baed on what I have read on this forum, so treat with caution!)

Beattie was under rated. BUT his close ball control was not as good as Rickie's
