  1. Slightly annoying that Rovers got a late winner. Pompey's play off opponents look weaker on the whole now. I'd have fancied Rovers to beat them. Not so sure with the other 3.
  2. Oh I don't know, I quite fancy reading them again....it's been a long time. Anyone want to dredge them up?
  3. Yeah, absolutely pathetic being 7th in the Premier League and still in contention for 5th. Far more respectable to be unable to even get automatic promotion from League 2 for the 3rd consecutive year despite having by far the biggest fan base,
  4. The next instalment on their views of our season..... the season that will go down as one where Incester took advantage of the medium-longterm problems or rebuilding of ManUre, arsenal, Chelski, Citeh and arguably Liverpool, where were Scum at the business end of the season? 20 points behind, getting excited about the only cup they won....4 decades ago. Pathetic.
  5. Without doubt my best away day with Saints so far in my life. A bank holiday monday too like today. Amazing memories and an amazing journey since....seems much longer ago now than only 5 years.
  6. Worst.Commentator.Ever. Just massively pretentious and thinks he's some Shakespearean poet.
  7. I wouldn't be surprised if they stick us in once the target exceeds 250. So just after lunch, we'll probably be hanging on again for last session and a half.
  8. Bloody hell, from that picture you can actually see the outline of his flabby belly and man boobs. For a premier league footballer to be able to let himself get into that state is amazing in this day and age, to be honest. Says a lot about the management of the club too that he's only being disciplined now, due to specific acvtivities which have surfaced in the tabloids.
  9. And similarly you can always back us to be 3 or 4 down for less than 100 pretty much every time we bat. Never going to do much with such a poor top order, Vince excluded.
  10. Motson has been awful for decades now. The BBC clearly appear uncomfortable with getting rid of him due to his iconic status, and are probably allowing him to decide when he feels can no longer commentate. The fact that he's a bumbling inept old fool these days doesn't appear to come into it. When Kane scored us at SMS this season, the whole "Harry Kane scoring against the club where he was once on loan" thing was just the tip of the iceberg, clearly got us confused with Norwich. His constant chuckling during commentary for no reason whatsoever (particularly on replays) is particularly annoying.
  11. "Schmeichel knows, of course, the value of clean sheets - his father Peter, one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation, would have told him so." Surely the BBC are winding everyone up, Crooks can't have put his name to this obscenely obvious comical quote.
  12. In the eyes of a Pompey fan, the Premiership is now riddled with "plastic fans" , lifeless stadiums, obscene money and huge debts. Only since their demise has this been the case though. Conveniently when they were in the Prem it was brilliant. They'd never want to go back to the Prem, no way. Not at all. Nasty Premier League. It's only pure coincidence that this theory happens to coincide with their football team clearly not being capable of ever returning to Premier League. Pure coincidence.
  13. I suspect if they'd just stuck as straight back in this morning they'd have had an even bigger chance, given our general penchant for 3 or 4 down for not very many in the longer form. That said, they may have fancied getting a few more runs as it's a nicer day today and the conditions for batting are generally favourable perhaps?
  14. I thought that at first, but the last couple of paragraphs, coupled with other posts on the thread from the same guy, lead me to conclude sadly not. There's plenty of others on there with similarly bitter delusional views, but that one in particular stood out
  15. The bitterness over there about him is utterly bizarre and pathetic, they're all piping in with why he actually wasn't very good! You couldn't make it up.
  16. Pompey fans view on Le Tissier below, from their forum....(brace yourselves) f Le Conc had joined Pompey like he could have, he would have got used to proper atmospheric crowds, and playing like a bloke in front of real fans. He probably would be a much more rounded individual and won more caps. Instead he played for Scumpton in front of tiny crowds who thought he was the best thing they had ever seen (and still do) As Pompey have had a lot more history, he would have been just another good player, but at Scumpton be became Le God because of their near total lack of success, and their fans ridiculous love of him meant that he felt he could never go anywhere else and be loved the same. This is where his lack of confidence comes from. That is why he had so much reticence for leaving the club, and why he couldn't play well for England. He effectively needed to have an arm around him playing for another club ie Chelsea / England, and didn't get it. They wouldn't have fitted the team around him either beacuse they had other players who could win games single handedly. Scumpton effectively killed his England career by treating him like an all conquering hero, even though all he ever did was save them from promotion a few times with his underachieving team mates.
  17. There's a possibility he may be on the bench today from what I've heard. An impact sub where he can make his legendary clever runs against tiring defenders.
  18. I think that goal in the 2011 Asia cup final got a lot of people very excited and enhanced our expectations of him , thus buying him a lot of leeway for picking up constant niggles and generally being a bit turd. A classic case of a player who was all fart and no ****. Over-hyped to the max by various local media , but actually wasn't very good.
  19. I bet you were one of the ones who thought he was too good for the rest of our attacking players and that his amazing intelligent movement, positional play and ability on the ball was wasted on an inferior set of team mates.
  20. Anyone know what the great speech slurrer is up to these days?
  21. You couldn't make some of this up. That's right, its the medical teams fault that his career never flourished here. It's also definitely much tougher to shine in the championship than the premier league. Glad we've got that clarified. Gaston is performing against the odds in the cauldron of Championship football, so just imagine how successful he'd be in the silky Prem, if only given the chance!!
  22. If it was up to some on here, Gaston "That Villa Game" Ramirez would be getting more chances than a monopoly board. That Villa game though.
  23. That'll keep this thread going for another month..........shall we list all the players who score dozens of goals in the championship who aren't good enough for the Prem? Because, based on his playing history, that's exactly the basic description of Gaston.
  24. For the record I'm a Gashtonette
  25. Over on the Ramirez thread we have a debate split between those who think he could still do a job if utilised correctly, and those who think he's had his chance and is clearly not good enough. So, I ask the question, would your consider yourself a "Gastonette" (Pro Gaston), or a Gashtonette (anti Gaston) Poll perhaps? Sticky?
