  1. Perfect for us. I don't see Ankersen being happy with it though because Bielsa isn't going to take any direction on team tactics and formations.
  2. At this juncture I would part company with Jones as the first priority. You cannot have that degree of incoherent blame flinging going around the club.
  3. I honestly can't see how they can stick with him. If you can't trust the guy running the team to speak in public then you have a problem. Not to mention, the interview(s) yesterday hinted at someone who is on the edge of a breakdown and the kindest thing would be to put him out of his misery before something bad happens.
  4. I think Bielsa would indicate that the board has conceded that we're going to be relegated. I don't see them doing that any time soon. Which also, sadly, probably protects Jones for a another couple of weeks.
  5. Might as well start preparing for next weekend's relegation 6 pointer. Lots of questions before this match: - Will Jones still be in charge? - Another week in the reserves for Caleta-Car and Orsic? - Diallo to start again? - Saints to set up to invite pressure? - The ongoing mental disintegration of Nathan Jones to continue in his pre match presentation. At this juncture it's hard to speculate beyond a Wolves win as we never beat them no matter how well we play they seem to nick a goal. Despite that I'm still hoping against hope.
  6. I think the reason SR hired him keeps coming up in the conferences. He had stats that looked good without spending much money - he keeps banging on about this. Unfortunately, his stats only looked good at one club, teams improved after he left them and the Premier League is not league one or the championship. Somehow they failed to do basic due diligence like evaluating his communication skills or leadership ability. Hint - someone who picks a fight with anyone who disagrees with them and contradicts themselves from one sentence to the next may not be who you're looking for.
  7. In Ankersen's head this is like the bit in Moneyball where the team starts doing what Brad Pitt asks and suddenly starts winning. Just have to have the doubters give up and stop questioning.
  8. They warned us about Mark Hughes too. I hate to say this but maybe we should listen to Stoke fans more often.
  9. I'm here for that. We can be done by lunchtime
  10. Page hundred might take us a few days. Can't we get it done by 70? On the plus side, if he stays we get to watch his feud with Ian Wright play out
  11. That's what you would say if you were trying to hide your pro Jones vote 😂🤣
  12. Welcome back. It's just as awful as yesterday and the club hasn't sacked him yet.
  13. "we didn't do the basics right" and calls his players weak. I'm not struggling to find examples.
  14. Here's another one complaining his team couldn't defend crosses. https://youtu.be/MctHVxE4eSc
  15. Here's a Luton press conference. To summarise. They didn't have enough quality. They went 2-0 down because they didn't defend their box properly. They got it in the other team's box more but couldn't score. When Jones says he doesn't recognise himself in Saints it seems like these are characteristics of Jones teams. https://youtu.be/Jm-XaeMfELw
  16. Here's the full BBC interview https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/64486322 He starts off better (suspect he got a bollocking) but then goes back to blaming the players. It's because he's tried to give players what they want and it's about a system that suits him, not the players.
  17. I'm looking forward to Ankersen's next TED talk which I sincerely hope isn't going to be a protracted and earnest apology.
  18. Nuff said. ChatGPT should be giving our press conferences. Give a press conference in the style of Nathan Jones, manager of Southampton football club after losing 3-0 away to Brentford in the Premier League. Good afternoon everyone and thank you for being here today. I’d like to start by saying that I’m extremely disappointed with the result from yesterday’s match against Brentford. Our performance was far from what we expect of ourselves and I take full responsibility for that. But let me tell you, we are not going to dwell on this defeat. This is a game of football, and we understand that ups and downs are a part of the sport. We will pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and get back to work. I’m extremely proud of the players that we have on this team, and I know that they will give their all in the next match. They are a talented group of players and I have no doubt that they will bounce back from this. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the fans for the disappointing result. I understand that they have high expectations of this team, and it’s my job to make sure that we meet those expectations. In conclusion, I would like to say that we are not giving up on this season. We will continue to work hard, stay positive, and strive for success. I’d like to thank you all for being here today, and I’ll take a few questions if there are any. Rewrite that in the style of someone who is having an angry nervous breakdown and is trying to shift blame to the players while bragging about his achievements as his previous club. Ladies and Gentlemen, let me tell you, I am completely and utterly FUMING right now. I mean, what the hell happened out there yesterday?! I want to make one thing very clear, this loss is NOT on me. I'm the best manager in the business, I brought that team from the bottom to the top and I'll do it again here. No, this loss is on the players. They let themselves and the club down yesterday. And let me tell you, I won't tolerate this kind of performance. I mean, come on! I've been in this game for years and I know what it takes to win. And I'm telling you, these players just don't have what it takes. I'm not going to stand here and take the blame for this disaster. I've got a reputation to uphold, and I'm not going to let a bunch of underperforming players tarnish it. And let's not forget, I've been successful wherever I've gone. I took that team from the lower leagues to the top of the table, I won the FA Cup, I've got a record that speaks for itself. So, let's not forget who's in charge here. I'm the one calling the shots, and I promise you, things are going to change. These players better shape up or ship out, because I will not accept this kind of performance again. Now, if there are any questions, I'll take a few, but be warned, I'm not in the best of moods right now.
  19. I think the problem is that the board has listened to too many people to their detriment. They've tried to give people what they want. But that's not going to happen any more. They're going to do things their way because statistically they have been the best in Europe. And on an absolute shoestring.
  20. I think you'll find that's being "caught on his heels" 🤪
  21. According to Merriam Webster's dictionary it means front foot noun : a foot measured along the front of a piece of property called also foot front
  22. You would think that being a good communicator would be one of the things they'd assess during the hiring process. The Chewbacca Defense only works in a court of law.
  23. Please please please please please please please I would also be ok with Bielsa or Benitez
  24. Luton is the feeder club for managerial appointments to Europe's elite for a reason.
