  1. If Sulemena is injured we're unlikely to offload him in this window.
  2. I applaud any city that boycotts the Sun but your logic is flawed. Just because there's a book evangelising about how amazing Merseyside is does not invalidate the lived experience other people have had with the city.
  3. Jones decided to give the players two weeks off during the World Cup break rather than start working with them. So far I've been impressed but that may be down to my desperate need to believe that our current manager is the answer. Our defending is still not great to say the least but at least we may have a cutting edge. Don't think I could watch another season like last one of dour football.
  4. Given last seasons' sentiment - a surprising number of us are backing Adam Armstrong to be the main striker next week.
  5. Bazunu Livramento Bednarek Stephens Manning Smallbone Charles Tella Alcaraz Edozie A Armstrong
  6. From the last two friendlies... Assuming JWP and Lavia go I'm not unhappy with Charles and Smallbone in central midfield. AArmstrong looks more potent than Che up front. But a striker would make a big difference. Keeper is a concern. Manning improves us at left back. If we keep one of Tino or KWP then right back looks good. Less sure about Bree. Charly and SArmstrong can run the show in attacking midfield in the middle. Tella, Edozie and Sam Amo-Ameyaw look good out wide. Sulemana too if he stays and his head is interested. Centre back is a concern especially given the likely departures of ABK, Lyanco and Salisu. Though equal concern if they stayed. I guess Bednarek and Stephens look most likely here. So, if we can move some people on then a striker, cover for midfield and another centre back out outfield players look good. Goalkeeper is a must because McCarthy can't play this system and Bazunu may not grow into it. However, for the first time in a long time there's real buzz about us going forward. Probably the first time since Koeman. Our defending is still best viewed from behind the sofa though.
  7. Keep the cutting edge and lose the suicidal passing and it's set for an exciting season.
  8. I like the way we gifted them a two goal headstart before we put out our real team.
  9. We need this level of intensity
  10. What a first touch by Amo-Ameyaw
  11. PSG will need someone in for Mbappe
  12. Our keepers are coached to dive out of the way of the ball.
  13. Edozie has had some pretty rough treatment. He's skinning his man at will. Amo-Ameyaw looks great with the ball at his feet too. Djenepo not so much. Every touch seems like he's surprised where the ball has gone.
  14. True. If you were going to bet your life on a man being able to stand between the ball and his own goal he would be your man. At least until he stopped tracking back 5 metres before his own penalty area.
  15. Who wouldn't? That silky first touch. The ability to glide past his man and the almost preternatural ability to pick out a team mate. He's a loss and no mistake.
  16. I'm not used to us scoring from a cross.
  17. Charles. Good nod
  18. Decent strength on the turn there by Edozie. Ref should've played advantage
  19. Some kind of hazing ceremony?
  20. If we pretend we're not watching the suicidal defending for a moment - we really look so much better going forwards.
  21. It's a genius plan to scare Liverpool off. I'm here for it.
  22. Anyone for 9-0?
  23. Trademark defending from the cross.
