The "Why have we signed him" transfer that proved you wrong

The irony of having your outside windows cleaned is really you should make an effort to keep the insides clean also. I can't say I do it as often as my window cleaner does the outsides! He's also very weather beaten to look at but a lovely guy. He must be 60. He does sunshine, rain, snow and hail. I pay him to clear the roof guttering twice a year also and we always have a joke about how he is going to put tennis balls at the top of the down pipes!

It ties in with the question put to Neil Allen yesterday on Twitter that asked was there any truth that a meeting had been called for staff for 24 July, which is the 7 days required for redundancy for those who have been there a year or less.

Appleton said: ‘It’s also the first game against a side that have been together for a long time, on a difficult surface, with an almost balloon of a ball. Point 1: Gib are an amateur side who get together once in a while. At least one player is in the 3rd div of the Spanish league which is semi-professional. Point 2: I watched the stream and the ball was changed each time it left play at either end with ball boys supplying a quick alternative so there were probably about 6 balloon shaped balls! More nonsense from an increasingly desperate Appy.

Good spot. I'd assume that discussions doesn't mean notice but there can't be much time difference for TB to set the ball rolling.

Oh dear.

I'm waiting for Neil Allen's write up. I think he'll talk about how good the squad's ping pong skills are again.

Love the way that the Gib commentator was forced to try and talk Pompey up. Superb. They are an utter mess. As mentioned, Brighton will murder them if they get that far. And Appy was saying he wants to sign about five to six of the triallists. Fantastic.

Have to object to the thread title and request it should be altered. It takes us down to the lowest common denominator.

They're worried about turncoats!

Presumably that's the key to it with a one-time premium for the first time if they haven't been cleaned for years. I pay £6.50 every three weeks for my castle though.

Well played Whitey.

Absolutely astonishing that they don't have these on record. They're basically saying we could never have paid them as we binned their claims and never actually had any intention of paying them either!
-
Shave the other one so they look the same, if a bit odd.

I'm 44 years old and have just gone up half a shoe size. I can now wear a pair of shoes that were too big but will have to send back another pair bought on the internet as they are too small. Weird.

There aren't actually unless you listen to those peddling voodoo science. Here's the up to date advice of the Health Protection Agency: While it is not possible to rule out adverse health effects from modern, well regulated municipal waste incinerators with complete certainty, any potential damage to the health of those living close-by is likely to be very small, if detectable. This view is based on detailed assessments of the effects of air pollutants on health and on the fact that modern and well managed municipal waste incinerators make only a very small contribution to local concentrations of air pollutants.

Stakeholder engagement / pre-application consultation / developer PR / lobbyist etc.

I don't disagree but that will not be accepted by the antis who fall into two camps always: A) Straight up NIMBYs who want electricity but don't want a power plant nearby, mainly because of concern about house prices B) Those who have no real understanding but gain a fearful perception of the plant and its potential detriment to public health and air quality - effectively those who are willfully misled by category A ringleaders quoting voodoo science.

Deep Purple were great. End of an era.

This is my direct field of work. I have been involved with successful planning permission of a number of biomass plants, efw plants, CCGTs and wind farms. In terms of biomass plants I have helped two 300MW plants to get planning consent. Biomass will be an important contributor to a balanced energy portfolio which is what the country needs in terms of both the climate change programme and energy security policies. Modern biomass plants are not noisy, do not smell and have advanced filtering and abatement systems that eliminate most of the NOx, SO2, particulate matter and dioxins. However, that is never believed by local campaigners who use voodoo science to whip up fear of cancer, birth defects, COPD and pretty much any other illness or disease that they can think of. The main issue with any modern power plant is likely to be visual impact. The revised Helius plans are better than the first set. But that is the point of public consultation also. It should be remembered that the proposed venue is a dock also, so is earmarked for industrial type activities. I haven't looked at all the Helius plans but I would assume they are thinking of supplying biomass to the plant by ship, thus keeping additional lorries off the roads.

That's why the govt has announced big rail infrastructure schemes today - to try and pump prime the economy.
