Better than League2

I'm trying to recall all the shirt sponsors since the 1980s when shirt sponsorship began. I've got: Rank Xerox Air Florida Draper Tools Sanderson Flybe Veho Virgin Media I think I'm missing quite a few there. The Virgin Media brand is probably the biggest we have ever had though so that's probably progress.

Here's a must have book for Factless Allen and his acolyte. https://www.theguardian.com/football/football-cliches/2016/aug/10/language-football-journalism-translated-sport

The guy is clearly unhinged.

Remember there is no coherent strategy at Fatpipes. At the start of the summer it was announced the existing squad would be tweaked with a few additions and by the start of the season they had signed 11 new players. Six of them started today. A management consultant would have a field day with McInnes, Catlin, the 11 HNWs and the Trust as well as concluding that Cook has no real plan for the squad either.

Happy days!

I might have read this before. ‘But when a club of Portsmouth’s size come calling you can’t really turn it down. ‘It’s great to get it done and I’m looking forward to getting going. ‘The club speaks for itself. You only have to look at the fanbase. ‘It’s a massive club which shouldn’t be in this league. Read more at: http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/pompey/new-defender-s-pompey-promise-1-7514048

"... Banqueting department is functioning well" Mark Catlin ROFL. Answers on a postcard. What's a Pompey banquet? http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/pompey/catlin-fans-backing-handed-pompey-budget-rise-1-7510453

Two more players signed - that's 11 over the summer, the full set. Strange for a team that was going to sign just a few additions and go away for a summer camp to train, not gel. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/pompey/pompey-seal-double-swoop-1-7511422 More evidence of an unfit skipper at the helm perhaps?

They've been doing up the Timber tabernacle. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/pompey/pompey-home-undergoes-summer-overhaul-1-7506577 New toilets and everything. Plus a quick mention that the pitch has been relaid again.

They really do know how to rub people up the wrong way. How will such a stupid piece of publicity assist the skates?
-
Given that all L2 teams would play under the EFL Trophy rules there would be no advantage or disadvantage in the promotion race really. I suspect the unwritten fear is that a full strength Pompey squad could, at some point, come up against an U-23 Saints side and be defeated.

Those kits don't match the competition images anyway. Look at the collars etc.
-
And all the hype in the Snooze from Factless and co about how it is Alan McLoughlin's testimonial game. He might have made £5000 out of it.

I'd love to see the return of Corp Ho.

But we have no problem with you being here so that looks like an unequal playing field.

Pompey stuff Salisbury in 2-2 thrashing. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/pompey/paul-cook-another-typical-pompey-display-1-7485339

Bleurgh!!!

Outrage that the new kit is made by Sondico when it was clear Adidas and Nike were vying to hand millions over in a shirt deal.
-
I notice a few more references among the fish to 'young Jack'. I think this is turning into a 'Little John' type moniker.
-
Someone moaning on the News that Paul Cook was spotted out on the lash in Warsash the night before the Sutton game.
-
Tbf they put the 1st team on after 69 minutes and got a goal back. It suggests little depth in a large squad though.

BT internet fault prevents sales of season tickets.... Hmmm..... I wonder..... Surely not??? http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/pompey-unable-to-sell-tickets-due-to-bt-fault-1-7478300

06/07/2016 6:26 AM CUT Priory81 I predict that at some point in the future; maybe 5 years, perhaps 10, Mark Catlin, Iain McInnes and maybe others from the current administration will be declared "Hall of Fame" members. What these people have done, along with the PST shareholders is nothing short of miraculous. Just a few years ago I would get angry having to explain away the shame of Pompey's administrations. Nowadays, the renewed pride I feel in supporting a fan-owned club that has reinvented itself is immense. A great and successful season on the field will complete the fairy story.
